This morning Google news has 310 news stories about Portland's own Brandon Mayfield getting $2 million in taxpayer money to settle a lawsuit.
The lesson here is: it doesn't matter how concrete the evidence may seem, don't arrest anyone, especially a Muslim after a terrorist attack. Hesitate. It's far better to let someone get away than offend someone whose own fingerprint expert says that their clients prints were on the bomb material.

Dear democrats: take care of my needs
With democrats sweeping victories in the last election I have come to accept that government will be growing in some ways. Democrats are itching to start providing some of our "basic needs" at taxpayer expense.
The Washington state democrats say that "A caring community provides a safety net of social services to meet all people's basic needs..."
I am therefore urging all Washingtonians to carefully review the following chart of Maslow's Hierarchy of Needs:
Note that "water" is included in one of the foundation blocks to this pyramid of "basic needs." I would urge all of you to copy and submit your water bill to your nearest elected democrat so that this need may be satisfied. You will also note that "sex" is a part of this block. (also excretion but if you've ever used a public restroom you will gladly go without government providing this need)
Next we have a "safety" category that includes safety of property. I am anxiously waiting for the democrat legislatures around the country to pass bills restricting the kelo property grabbing decision.
Next up is "love/belonging." I'm hoping for a creation of the State Department of Matchmaking to find me a taxpayer funded friend. Also we have many single people out there on the dating scene. Since you are simply looking to fill one of your "basic needs" I would recommend that the cost of your dinner out be tax deductable.
Imagine how many Assistant Compliment Supervisor II's we can hire to take care of my self-esteem. I'm not saying that I need a PERS recipient to follow me around showering me with praise all day... several times a week will be sufficient.
The top part of the pyramid is going to be the most difficult and will probably require a Department of Self-Actualization with many branches such as the Office of Creativity.
I have so many needs...

Run for your lives! The sky is falling!
It's that very special time of year again. No, not Christmas season. The time when I absolutely refuse to watch local news on the tv.
This is because every snowflake (and possibly some white lint) is treated like a blizzard. And God help us if some snow actually sticks on the ground! Wow, then it's time to don those (fill in the network color) parkas and rush out and actually show us what snow looks like! Yes, the intrepid reporter will, without fail, point to and actually pick up some snow to show us, the ignorant viewer.
Yes I know that snow is good for ratings, people want to find out if schools are going to be closed (they're run by unions, of course they are closed) or if you will be able to get to work. (unless you work for Dianne Linn you are expected to show up if you want to get paid)
But please, spare me the drama.

Random musing of the day
You know what irritates me? Going to the store and seeing a stroller with a 5 year-old in it. The kid can obviously walk but for some reason the parent(s) allow him to be pushed around like a baby.
The only thing worse is if the kid has a pacifier in his/her mouth.
So please, if that's you, stop damaging your child. Take the pacifier, kick him out of the stroller and make him walk like a big boy. In fact, to make up for the years of pampering you should probably make him carry a backpack with a rock in it and occasionaly make him stop and do push-ups.

Portland citizen in the spotlight
Federal Appeals Court to Hear Patrice Lumumba Ford Case
Patrice Lumumba Ford's 18-year sentence will be reviewed by the U.S. 9th Circuit Court of Appeals on December 4 in Portland, Oregon. Ford received national media attention as part of The Portland Six, who were accused of being a "terrorist cell" in 2002. Ford's new lawyer, Shaun McCrea of Eugene, will argue that the sentencing guidelines for "treason" were erroneously applied in her client's case.
And the libs are still declaring them innocent. It almost seems like a sad case of a victim defending his/her own attacker.

Hopefully the debate will be in English
An OFIR member in Eugene alerts us about a forum on immigration, to be held at Lane Community College in Eugene on November 28 from 7:30 PM to 9 PM in Building 19, Room 257.
The title of the forum is "The Politics of Immigration: Confronting our past, constructing a future." Jim Garcia, Chicano/Latino Student Program Coordinator at Lane Community College is the sponsor. Thus far, he has invited as speakers an immigration lawyer and Mike Samonoa, ethnic studies professor at Lane to represent the open-border point of view and Springfield city councilor Dave Ralston, who opposes illegal immigration and who will speak for immigration controls and restrictions.
Lane Community College is located at 4000 E. 30th Ave., Eugene OR 97405. The telephone number is 541-463-3000. Website: http://www.lanecc.edu/
I know that Rick Hickey will be attending. It would be great for more people to show up and support the position that "illegal is illegal." (something so simple that politicians can't quite get it)

The day after
Well, it's the day after Thanksgiving, you know what that means... no not the biggest shopping day of the year, it's when the ACLU, PFAW, and company really ramp up their efforts to keep Christmas from being mentioned anywhere, anytime.
"Oh Daniel, you're being paranoid, there is no 'war on Christmas'" you say. Uh huh, that's what I love about liberals, they try to make huge societal changes while at the same time insisting that nothing is going on. (which has nothing to do with the fact that they need sweeping supreme court decisions to make all these non-changes)
The biggest trick the Devil ever pulled was convincing the world he didn't exist. Don't let people try to convince you that Christmas isn't being excluded from the public square.

Stereotype... or a description of the suspect
What Can I Do to Make Your Flight More Uncomfortable?
Six imams removed from a US Airways flight from Minneapolis to Phoenix are calling on Muslims to boycott the airline. If only we could get Muslims to boycott all airlines, we could dispense with airport security altogether.
The idea that a Muslim boycott against US Airways would hurt the airline proves that Arabs are utterly tone-deaf. This is roughly the equivalent of Cindy Sheehan taking a vow of silence. How can we hope to deal with people with no sense of irony? The next thing you know, New York City cab drivers will be threatening to bathe.
Come to think of it, the whole affair may have been a madcap advertising scheme cooked up by US Airways.
"US Airways - now 100% Muslim free" may not be a bad advertising slogan considering that all recent airplane hijackings have been at the hands of Muslims.

Mexican Grinch Halts Christmas Trees at Border
In one of the first actions under Operation Christmas Tree, Mexican environmental authorities have halted a shipment of Oregon-raised Douglas fir trees at the Mexico-US border.
According to the Profepa, Mexican inspectors seized a shipment of almost 2,000 Oregon-grown trees at the Colombia crossing on the Nuevo Leon-Texas border. Justifying its action, the environmental protection agency said the trees were detained after inspectors discovered live Douglas fir twig weevil larvae in the shipment. The trees will be returned to the US, the Profepa said.
Words fail me. But perhaps when we can discover illegal aliens doing something serious, like having "twig weevil larvae" in their pockets, instead of just carrying tuberculosis, meth, marijuana, cocaine and other benign things we can start "returning them to Mexico."

Crime (democrats) and punishment (republicans)
I heard Governor Kulongoski this morning once again talking about how "head start prevents crime." Also how "spending money saves money." (I'll leave the second statement to the collection agencies)
I'm sure that full day kindergarten also "prevents crime" in the opinion of Kulongoski.
Now before you lemmings jump on and say that this isn't the "opinion" of Kulongoski, that there was an "actual report" released, I would point to who did the report: Fight Crime: Invest in Kids.
Their "plan" involves government being involved in every aspect of parenting, or simply outright trying to be the parents. I don't need a government beauracrat coming to my house to "coach" me on being a parent. I don't need my kids spending 10 hours a day in government run institutions. (including during the summer)
These trolls want your kids FROM BIRTH.
And I don't need your stupid statistics on how government programs keep these kids out of jail. You want more that a statistic, you want something tangible? Then go down to your local county jail and survey the inmates with one question: are your parents married?
Then when you find out that 99% don't have a married biological mother and father maybe you should re-evaluate your constant trashing of the traditional family. (Oh c'mon Daniel that doesn't really happen... example: Metro councilor Robert Liberty "Ozzie is dead, and Harriet is a working mom. What we need are homes for single-parent families who want to live near where they work, shop and go to school.") [note: I trashed Liberty and his liberal utopia pretty well didn't I?]
Maybe instead of trying to replace the family with government you should get the heck out of the way of us raising our kids!
Suggested follow up survey at the local jail: Do you regularly attend Church? (guessing that people who do attend regularly aren't in jail or prison, maybe the "invest in kids" group could bus "disadvantaged youth" to a neighborhood church for Sunday service and Youth Group.)

Former Sen. Edwards Acknowledges Staffer Asked Wal-Mart for PlayStation 3
Wal-Mart Stores Inc. said Thursday that a staff member for former Sen. John Edwards — a vocal critic of the retailer — asked his local Wal-Mart store for help in getting the potential 2008 presidential candidate a Sony PlayStation 3. Edwards said a volunteer did so by mistake.
"By mistake." Rrrriiiiiiggggghhhhttttttt.

But isn't it all free?
Oregon leaders' choice: Santa or statesman
Full-day kindergarten. Universal health care. Fresh bouquets on the desks of every state employee, paid for through a newly created State Flower Fund. There's no end to the number of government programs that might make life better for Oregonians after years of cuts.
The Fishwrapper calling for less spending? Actually not really. Of the three items listed above you can bet that they support the first two while reluctantly opposing the third.
And instead of saying they want to "spend" on something they say we should "invest" in something. Kind of like I could "invest" in a six-pack.
My prediction: Lars and Victoria are going to have lots of cannon fodder to talk about when the next legislative session comes about.

Welcome to our side
Something I thought about regarding the WW story on the illegal alien student:
"To work, they use fake Social Security numbers, which they bought nine years ago for about $30 apiece on a street in Woodburn, in a transaction that went something like a drug deal, Carlos' father says."
"As far as the couple knows, they are the only ones with their particular Social Security numbers, which they shared with their current employers in order to get their jobs. Presumably, their employers use those numbers to have taxes withheld from their paychecks..."
Maybe you have heard the phrase "a Republican is just a Democrat who has been mugged." Well, when the IRS knocks on the door of one of you amnesty advocates and insists that you have unreported income you just feel free to join our side over at Oregonians for Immigration Reform.
"An immigration enforcement advocate is just an anmesty proponent who has been victimized by an illegal alien."

That's "Dr." illegal to you
Illegal Scholar
Carlos is a bright high-school senior who wants to go to college. Here's the problem: He's an undocumented immigrant.
This is the WW story that we have been hearing about all day. Read it for yourself. It's a great story on the crimes and costs associated with the "good" illegal aliens. The stolen social security numbers, the fradulent work documents, the tax scams, the education costs... and these are the illegal aliens that aren't (presumably) raping girls and selling drugs.
Question for "Carlos": you can't get a job, what do you need a college education for?

What's that sound?
Oh, that's the sound of thousands of perverts rushing to apply for a job where they can share a bathroom with your wife/girlfriend/daughter.
YOUR GUIDE TO SEXUAL ORIENTATION, GENDER IDENTITY, DISCRIMINATION, and WASHINGTON STATE LAWS
Q. What is the employer’s obligation regarding restrooms?
A. If an employer maintains gender-specific restrooms, transgender employees should be permitted to use the restroom that is consistent with the individual’s gender identity.
Where single occupancy restrooms are available, they may be designated as “gender neutral.” All employers need to find solutions that are safe, convenient and respect the transgender employee’s dignity.
While the state of Washington seems very concerned about the "safety" and "conveniance" of someone who is mentally disturbed and not at all concerned about the "safety" or "conveniance" of the general population.
Q. Would your average woman feel "safe" having a 40-something man walk into the bathroom behind her?
A. No.
The lumping of the "transgender" folks into the gay agenda reveals it for what it really is: a pact for a sexual free-for-all where no judgements can be made at all. Any argument, however invalid, about someone being "born that way" goes out the window here.
We know which way you were born. You want a doctor to change that fact with a pair of scissors.

From Indymedia...
Congradulations North Korea!
(they didn't learn them to spell to good at them government schools)
The Songun Politics Study Group (USA), home to the Kimilsungist fighters within the epicentre of US imperialism wishes to reaffirm militant solidarity with the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) on the issue of nuclear bombs and the struggle against imperialism, namely US imperialism.
It is quite correct to say that the USA progressive should stand with the DPRK nuke tests openly and defiantly not only out of principles of internationalism but because for their own people the possibility of war with deep consequences has been greatly checked by the DPRK taking a stance of dignity and self-assertion.
Go, Go Socialism! Go, Go Communism! Go, Go Nuclear, Nuclear DPRK, Hurray!
However, a couple of days ago on the same site...

Anti-nuclear activists on Saturday delayed a waste train from northern France to northern Germany by several hours, said the French reprocessing company, Areva.

Say WA?!?!?
Washington State Labor and Industries
Q. If I am an undocumented worker, will L&I turn me in to the Immigration and Naturalization Services or the local police authority?
A. Labor and Industries is NOT associated with the Immigration and Naturalization Service. We will not report an undocumented worker to the federal government or to a local police authority — it is our intent to ensure employees are provided a safe workplace, appropriate wages, and medical coverage if injured.
Doesn't bother WA L&I if your labor is illegal, just if you are illegaly making at least the minimum wage.

TRANSITIONAL FOOD ASSISTANCE
Purpose: Transitional Food Assistance (TFA) is a program to provide stable food benefits to families leaving the Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) or Tribal TANF programs while receiving Basic Food.
"CLARIFYING INFORMATION"
People who are non-recipients of a TANF/SFA Assistance Unit do not impact the household’s eligibility for TFA.
EXAMPLE
Stephanie is the head of household for TANF and Basic Food. Stephanie is an undocumented immigrant and has failed to cooperate with the Division of Child Support (DCS) for TANF. As an undocumented immigrant, she does not receive TANF for herself.
Because Stephanie is not a TANF recipient, the failure to cooperate with DCS does not impact TFA. When the household leaves TANF, they may receive TFA.
It's the same argument that Oregon makes and it's an argument that only a lawyer could appreciate. Sure we're putting the money in her control but we're not really giving it to her...
I really like the part about the illegal alien being "uncooperative." I mean, if she walks into the DSHS office and spits on the nearest social worker do they still give her free stuff?

Banning BB Guns
You might think that Massachusetts can't become any more anti-gun.
Well, think again. Now there's a proposal to ban BB guns in Massachusetts. Complete with a BB gun amnesty period. And a BB gun buyback program.
In fact, these politicians not only plan to ban BB guns in Massachusetts, they're sending letters to Maine, New Hampshire, Vermont and Rhode Island to ask those states to do the same.
I had bought a Daisy BB gun to teach my kids how to shoot in the woods across from my house. Come to find out that Sherwood has a city ordinance against firing BB guns, slingshots, etc within city limits. (The only way to find this ordinance is with a google site search to find the minutes of an obscure meeting)
I guess the girlie men on the city council are worried about someone losing an eye. While I'm disapointed that we can't plink pop cans in the woods it's worked out since once we are outside of city limits my boys can freely shoot a 12gauge instead. (with a little help)
Hat tip Orbusmax for the story

Called Directo a Mexico, the product allows U.S. banks participating in the program to conduct money-transfers for Mexican workers through its automated clearinghouse system.
To use the service, "all individuals are required to be documented," said Elizabeth McQuerry, a vice president for the Federal Reserve's retail payments office in Atlanta.
Oh good, I feel better...
"The form of documentation depends on the bank or credit union," she said. "According to the U.S. Patriot Act, the matricula consular is a legal form of ID for a bank or credit union to accept."
Aaaaah hahahahahaha, I knew they were joking. The illegal alien card is accepted. I guess by "documented" they mean "in possession of some sort, any sort, of document. Fraudulent or not."
In 2005, Latino immigrants sent $53.6 billion from the United States to Latin American countries...

OFIR press release
Tuesday’s election a victory for immigration reform?
Most political observers have stated that the election Tuesday was a referendum on President Bush’s policies. Democrats gained control of both the U.S. Senate and the U.S. House of Representatives. Not one Democratic Senator or House member lost their seat. National issues even affected the vote for governor here in Oregon.
Jim Ludwick, President of Oregonians for Immigration Reform stated, "Almost everyone believes that the election was a referendum on the policies of President Bush. President Bush is the chief proponent of amnesty and open borders. If the election was a repudiation of President Bush’s policies, how can it not also be a repudiation of his immigration policies?”
Ludwick went on to make the following points:
The House Immigration Reform Caucus chaired by Congressman Tom Tancredo has 104 members. Their goals are the same as OFIR’s. 96 of the members were re-elected and 2 were open seats.
In Arizona there were 4 anti-illegal immigration propositions on the ballot. Prop. 100, which denies bail to illegal aliens charged with a serious crime, passed 78% to 22%. Prop. 102, which prohibits illegal aliens from being awarded punitive damages in any Arizona court, passed 74.5% to 25.5%. Prop 103, which makes English the official language of Arizona, passed 74.4% to 25.6%, (50% of Hispanic Arizonians voted in favor of it). Prop. 300, which limits certain educational opportunities for illegal aliens, passed by a 71.7% to 28.3% margin.
In Colorado voters passed a referendum that denies valuable tax deductions to employers who knowingly hire illegal aliens.
Ludwick went on to say, "Most importantly, many of the newly elected Democrats campaigned on being tough against illegal immigration. In Wednesday’s report on the election, The Oregonian reported that,’Winning House Democrats campaigned hard on a platform that was largely business-minded, fiscally tight and tough on illegal immigration.’"
Immigration reform, our sovereignty and control over our borders should not be partisan issues. They are issues that should unite Republicans, Democrats and independents.
A recent poll by the Center for Immigration Studies reported that three out of four voters believed the reason we have illegal immigration is that past enforcement efforts have been grossly inadequate. Also, when told the scale of legal and illegal immigration, voters overwhelmingly thought it was too high.

We helped them while they were illegal
I am going to throw a big "our tax dollars have been helping illegal aliens" party for the next few months before they stop being illegal aliens and become our "guests."
So without further ado...
State of Washington Commission on Hispanic Affairs.
Meeting Minutes
A social worker from DSHS stated that there is a program through DSHS for undocumented families to apply for housing assistance. It is only available once a year.
Meeting Minutes
The Commission partnered with the Department of Health (DOH) to effect change within these agencies in order to better serve undocumented workers.
2007 - 2012 Strategic Plan
The State's recent budget shortfalls have directly affected the Hispanic community. For example, in recent years, Hispanic undocumented immigrant children have lost a significant portion of medical coverage as they were transferred from the state-funded medical assistance program to the Basic Health Program.
Oh boo-freakin-hoo. I'm soooo sad that the illegal alien children lost their cadillac coverage and now only get "basic" health care at the cost to the taxpayers.
If you want to know how this "strategic plan" affected the Washington state budget the look no further...
The Governor’s Budget for Health Care
Restores health coverage for immigrant children. The Governor’s budget restarts the
Children’s Health Program for children of undocumented farm workers with incomes below
100 percent of the federal poverty level.
$17.5 million GF-State
That's $17,500,000 general fund dollars. Dollars that could go to public safety, schools, roads, etc.
But here is the best part, thanks to Bush and his newly elected democrat congress these programs will no longer be necessary! If only because the illegal aliens will now be legal guests.

Mike "amnesty" Pence
The Mac View: Pence as Minority Leader a Great Deal for Illegal Aliens
As much as I love and adore Human Events and my many friends at HE, I have to disagree with them on their fawning over the prospect of Mike Pence becoming minority leader. He'd be a great minority leader, especially since his personal not-an-amnesty amnesty plan for 20 million illegal aliens will help ensure that the GOP remains a minority party.
Mac Johnson is right on.
To ensure that the same voters who stayed home yesterday will stay home in '08 we just need an amnesty bill.
And we need that amnesty bill like a fish needs a bicycle...
If you are feeling blue over the election I highly recommend going and reading some Mac Johnson columns. It will help you feel better.

Sore losers
I'm not a sore loser here. If you look at my last couple posts I am moving forward, looking at the positive and wanting to focus on what I (and people of a similar mindset) can do to keep this country and American families strong.
However I'm thouroughly enjoying the "ha ha" and "suck it" comments from giddy liberals.
I suppose that I could do what liberals did in 2004 and go put on a skirt, cry to my shrink and threaten to leave the country. But I'm not a whiny girl.
And the claim that this is a rejection of "conservative" (read: mainstream) values is absurd. A democrat got elected and gay marriage got rejected in several states.
As for the issue of immigration, Heath Shuler (D), who was just elected to the House, has this to say:
“Illegal immigration costs American taxpayers approximately $70 billion a year in financial assistance for welfare benefits, health care, education and domestic crime-fighting... I do not support granting amnesty to people who have broken the law.”
So don't assume that because someone has a (D) next to their name that they march in step with MoveOn.org.

Moving forward
Rather than dwell on the fact that we now have Speaker Ortega, I mean Pelosi (campaign slogan: A needle exchange on every corner!), I think that we need to focus on what we can do next time.
Did you all find the time to distribute the Christian Voter's Guide at your church? Did you donate any money, however little, to your favorite candidate/cause? Did you work the phone banks or stuff evenlopes or go door to door for a campaign?
Did you call your like-minded friends and neighbors to make sure they got their ballot in?
I want everyone to remember how they are feeling now, and how they were feeling last night, and translate that into some action when the 2008 cycle comes about.

Ouch
Well... this was not a good election for me. But there are some things to keep in mind:
1) we still have a veto pen in the White House
2) many democrats ran on Republican principles
3) Lincoln Chaffee lost... that's a plus in my book
4) the nutty left got slapped by Lieberman
5) a couple more states passed traditional marriage amendments
6) we still have the Senate... (timestamp: 9:53pm PST)

Election coverage
I have to go attend a Cub Scout meeting so no blogging until (possibly) late tonight. I would highly recommend that you visit Orbusmax for all your NW and national election coverage.
Thank you tripcheck... for nothing
No time to blog, there is a 2-3 hour delay on a road that I use to get to work. The helpful information at this point would be a START TIME for this delay but no info has been posted on the signs or at Tripcheck.org that I can find.
Fun.
Fun.

Republicans, Democrats... Chuck Norris
Yeah, yeah, it's "election eve" but at this point there's nothing I can say other than get your ballot in.
So it's time for a little internet phenomenon. (little did Al Gore realize when he "created the internet" that such treasures like Star Wars Kid, Numa Numa, This Land is my Land and many more would be the result)
Spend any time online and you come to realize that Chuck Norris is the baddest guy on the block. Observe:
Chuck Norris Facts
When Bruce Banner gets mad, he turns into the Hulk. When the Hulk gets mad, he turns into Chuck Norris.
Some people wear Superman pajamas. Superman wears Chuck Norris pajamas.
Chuck Norris destroyed the periodic table, because Chuck Norris only recognizes the element of surprise.
When the Boogeyman goes to sleep every night, he checks his closet for Chuck Norris.
There is no theory of evolution. Just a list of creatures Chuck Norris has allowed to live.
Outer space exists because it's afraid to be on the same planet with Chuck Norris.

One county = the whole state
Over at BlueOregon, yes, that racist site where they hate black people (I keep saying it so it must be true!) they are lamenting the voter turnout, or lack thereof, in The People's Republic of Multnomah County.
"Remember: Multnomah is the bright, blue beating heart of Oregon. If turnout dips in Multnomah County, we can lose statewide."
Nice to know that even they admit that without the cesspool known as Portland this state would go Repblican. For more on Portland's contributions to this state I will simply point to this crime map:
RED = >500 crimes
(stats stop at 500 so it could be one million crimes)
Courtesty Crime Mapper
As for what the Blue Oregon readers think of the rest of us:
"Why would I want to live in biggoted rural Oregon?
No thanks! I'd rather live in a community that is diverse in every sense of the word."

Get your ballot in!
If you haven't got your ballot filled out yet then please stop reading this blog and go do it! While I no longer send mine in early (not that I don't trust you Mr. Bradbury...) but have it filled out and it will go in the drop box today!
IT IS TOO LATE TO MAIL IT IN.
Find a dropbox, try your local library. (which, no doubt, is asking for more money on that ballot so they can continue to provide Spanish books, CD's and movies to illegal aliens)
Don't be one of those "I was going to vote but I left my ballot in my desk blah blah blah" guys.

Got a few minutes? Watch for illegal aliens!
Texas Border Watch
As part of the Virtual Neighborhood Border Watch Program, the State of Texas has been testing video surveillance cameras in different environments along the 1240 miles of Texas/Mexico border using the internet to transmit the images. The last stage of the test is to stress the system by providing public access to numerous surveillance cameras.

Helpful hypocrisy, hurtful hypocrisy
The revelation that an evangelical leader was engaging in homosexual behavior and purchased illegal drugs has got the media and the left in a fit of giggles. They love nothing more than to see a supposed virtous man fallen.
I'm currently reading the book, Do as I say, Not as I do (profiles in liberal hypocrisy), which is an interesting read (a little dry) but the author makes a very profound statement at the begininng:
(paraphrased) When a conservative violates his public stance of morality it is always to his/her detriment. The drugs, gay sex, theft, etc hurt the conservative and he/she recognizes that. On the other hand when a liberal violates his/her public stance of morality (don't pollute, corporations are bad/unions are good) is improves the life of the liberal. Not using a Union shop to film or produce movies means that Michael Moore can stay on budget for example.
The preacher who has been accused of having gay sex and admits to buying meth is being ridiculed by the liberals for his wrongdoings. I say wrongdoings because when a conservative does them they become wrong, anyone else and the liberal media would accuse anyone harrassing the person of a hate crime.
While the liberals are content to teach schoolchildren in public schools precisely how to clean their dirty heroin needles they are incensed that a God fearing man could possibly sin. No word on whether or not Haggard would have been able to use a (liberal supported) taxpayer funded needle exchange program if he needed something to shoot up with.
As for the homosexual behavior, I'm glad to see that the media and the left are treating it like the vice that it is. Maybe they will realize that drug use and homosexuality aren't something to be excused or justified but are serious problems for our society.
Haggard says what he did hurt him. We should take a lesson from that.

Creative headlining
A tale of two headlines today:
Poll: Governor Slightly Ahead in Oregon
(Forbes)
Winds blow in Kulongoski's favor
(The Fishwrapper)
One headline tells the story. One headline reveals that someone was outside protesting capitialism during journalism class...
The first line (on the Google news search) is also an editorial:
"Democratic Gov. Ted Kulongoski, apparently benefiting from an angry voter mood toward President Bush and the Republican Party, now ..."
I guess this is where I could write "the author of this article, apparently suffering from a mental illness, is..."
I guess they do back up their statement with one piece of "evidence"... they interview a reporter who hates Bush.

Who knew and when did they know it?
Pedophile Goldschmidt's Aide Says Ted Kulongoski Knew and Helped Neil Anyway...
[Kulongoski]... knew about Goldschmidt's child rape/pedophilia and hired him anyway to head the Department of Higher Education and took him into his inner sanctum as an advisor during his first run for Governor.
But don't let that affect your vote or anything...

At least he didn't accuse them of atrocities this time
The John "soldiers are stupid" Kerry audio montage as put together by Lars Larson.
This time he only calls them stupid, at least he didn't call them war criminals and murderers.

But did he have a rough childhood?
Current chain of events for police contact:
Police are called. Police contact suspect. Police attempt to get control of the situation with neccessary force. (verbal through lethal) Police go home to their families and the bad guy(s) go to jail or the morgue.
Tommy Potter's new chain of events for police contact:
Police are called. Police contact potential police brutality victim. Police attempt to determine if knife wielding man who is frothing at the mouth is "mentally ill." Police open up their field copies of DSM IV and attempt to diagnose the mental illness. Police attempt to determine if suspect, I mean potential police brutality victim, had a rough childhood.
