Teddy K's accomplishments Part 2

The Governor’s Affirmative Action Office established the first statewide comprehensive Cultural Competency Assessment and Training program for all state agencies; and leads monthly workshops to provide “best practices” to state agencies.
-Teddy for Gov

That’s why I think Basic Rights Oregon is one of the most important organizations in this state. Not simply because you’re fighting for a particular cause that I have long believed in. But because you are one of Oregon’s strongest – and most effective – voices for fundamental American values.
-Basic Rights Oregon speech

Note: It was hard to pick a quick bite from that speech but I settled on this one because we all know that this embodies fundamental American values:

Through an agreement with Governor Ted Kulongoski and Mexico's President Vicente Fox, the Mexican Consulate is setting up Spanish literacy programs throughout the state.
-One of my old posts

But when searching through our failed governors track record I think that this is the best site to sum it all up:

OnTheIssues.org
Pick your topic, the answer is almost always: "No stance on record"

His stances that are on record:
I support the three-year surcharge...

and

He outlined a three-pronged attack to make health care more affordable and easier for the state & private industry to provide. The new items in his plan were:
Get a waiver from the federal government to allow everyone without insurance to join Medicaid just to buy prescription drugs at the lower cost;

Require drug companies to disclose gifts they provide to doctors;

Deny drug companies a deduction on their state taxes for advertising costs.

Way to go Teddy! Or in the language of your constituents: ¡Manera de ir teddy!

Daniel's State of the [something witty] address

My fellow Americans and the thousands of illegal aliens who are hopefully translating this into Spanish, I am humbled to be here in this forum.

In a two party system, a system of debate, a system in which ultra-leftist Castro supporting communists are referred to as Democrats and moderate Republicans are called Right-Wing facists, we have some problems. The main problem being that the debate does not contain enough Ted Kennedy sound-bites. To fully appreciate the issues before us we must allow Kennedy to talk more often and hearings should be held after happy hour.

But the State of [something witty to be inserted later] is strong and with the help of some guest workers we will make it even stronger. (Lift that side up Pablo...)

Abroad our Nation is envied and some countries want to kill us. This would be no problem except that liberals don't seem to want to fight back. Some countries may not like us. That's ok because other countries suck. Seriously. I'm not even joking at this point. Just try to name another country that doesn't suck. Well ok, Australia but that's it.

So we are making war against enemies while at the same time our media is dragging us down and some of our own citizens are rooting for us to lose. (Mental note: have those people deported)

Iran, we're going to kick your ass.

But to my fellow Oregonians (this is going to get me into trouble...) please stop rooting for the Seahawks. They are not an Oregon team. Adopting the closest out of state team to root for just seems pathetic to me. It's time to splash some cold water on our collective faces and admit that we just aren't a sports town.

Sure we could root for the Portland Anarchists or the Eugene Eco-terrorists or we could all join a non-competitive game of hacky sack but we aren't going to have a football team. Just accept it.

Perhaps we could come up with some other alternative sports to cheer for in Oregon. We could do a variation of the X Games that we would call the M Games.

We would have competitions between state agencies to see how many criminal aliens they could serve in a day. (double points if they've been deported once before) County jails could compete for the number of forced releases they let go because their jails are full of inmates with immigration holds.

We could have weight-lifting competitions with the pounds and pounds of drugs coming from Mexico.

So you see, our Nation de Atzlan, err, our Union is strong. And with Pablos help it will only get stronger.

Can't find one in the private sector...

Because we need to add one more person to the PERS rolls...

The City of Portland Announces an OPEN Recruitment for: Auto Body Restorer
Approximate Monthly Salary Range: $3,799 at entry - $4,127 after six months

The Auto Body Restorer is responsible for restoring or modifying all types of vehicles and heavy equipment operated by the City, including performing straightening and aligning, and restorative repairs.

Many companies have a fleet of vans. Almost none of these companies have their own auto body restorers. Why not? Because it's cheaper to get an account with a local auto body shop and get a discounted rate for using them exclusively. That way, you don't add another employee to the rolls who will get benefits.

Portland has a large fleet of vehicles and the local businesses would love to have a chance to bid on a contract to be the shop to fix them. But since government doesn't have to worry about making smart decisions with money and since governments main job is to grow itself, it insists on keeping everything in-house.

Heck, why not just manufacture the automobiles yourself Portland?

Teddy K's achievements

We were the first state to finance public art for every public building.
-April 4, 2003

“This has been a very important and successful year for art and culture in Oregon. In spite of a very tight budget, we were able to preserve the state’s two leading public voices for art and culture - the Oregon Arts Commission and the Oregon Cultural Trust.

Governor Ted Kulongoski today announced his new postsecondary education initiative and announced the appointment of former Governor Neil Goldschmidt to serve on the Board of Higher Education.
-November 13, 2003

Governor Ted Kulongoski issued his second warning to Oregon residents within a month: If you face the possibility of flood damage, buy flood insurance now.

Executive Order: 05-01
The Director of Affirmative Action and each Agency Director or Administrator shall review and discuss the affirmative action plans and affirmative action goals for their departments to identify resources for improving, if needed, the hiring and developmental opportunities of underrepresented persons.

Executive Order: 06-02
Paraphrasing: We need to grow grass on top of buildings at taxpayer expense. We should name our children Sunflower or Stardust. People who drive cars should be punished.

And so continues the saga of our worthless governor. I would love to list rape victims that were needlessly assaulted because of our states magnet policies of helping illegal aliens but it's hard to provide a source link to that other than to point to one example:

Kulongoski, you worthless excuse for a leader, children have been victimized in horrible ways that no one should ever have to experience because you REFUSE to stop making Oregon a magnet state for illegal aliens. You are a despicable creature.

Market forces? What's that?

Liberals' Energy Policy: Obstruct Supply, Marvel at Price
High energy costs are a mystery. It seems like no matter how much we prohibit domestic energy production, energy prices just keep going up -- and we just keep getting more dependent on foreign sources. There is no law of economics that can explain it, no hypothetical relationship between supply and demand that could predict price. Bill O’Reilly must be right. High prices must be the result of a secret plot by big oil, or perhaps the freemasons.

Mac Johnson continues to be funny and continues to be right!

Mexican Police Arrest Four Illegal Iraqis
Mexican federal agents have arrested four Iraqis trying to sneak into the United States without proper documents, the government said Monday.

Wasim Francis Schamoun and Ivan Yalda, both 23, and Refon Chlil Oraha and Thaer Salem Yelda, both 27, were found on a bus in the northern city of Navajoa after police received an anonymous tip, the attorney general's office said in a statement.

NOTHING TO SEE HERE! PLEASE GO ABOUT YOUR BUSSINESS. NO NEED TO BE ALARMED.

What? People are trying to kill us? Oh yeah, war on terror. Now I remember. But that's all over there. Not here. No sir. Just harmless Mexicans trying to make a living coming across our open border. That's all. It doesn't bother the Republican party. Noooo. Their "good-hearted folks" those criminal aliens, er, I mean "guest workers."

Reminds me of the "guests" I had last weekend in my house. I didn't invite them in but they came anyway. They insisted that I stock my fridge with their kind of food, watch their kind of tv programs, and listen to their kind of radio. When I suggested that they had worn out their [non-existent] welcome they called me racists so I backed down immediatly. Can't be called a racist. That wins everything. Rock beats scissors, scissors beat paper, paper beats rock, charges of racism beats ALL POLITICIANS!

I was going to work for the Oregon ACLU but...

ACLU Oregon
The ACLU of Oregon is committed to ensuring equal opportunity in employment without discrimination based upon race, religion, color, national origin, sex, age, physical or mental disability, sexual orientation, gender identity, marital or familial status, or any other basis unrelated to the individual’s abilities and qualifications to serve. People of color, women, LGBTQ individuals, and persons with disabilities are strongly encouraged to apply. (Their emphasis)

It's always hard to feel like I have less of a chance than other candidates. Singling out certain groups of people and "strongly encouraging" them to apply is the best example of the double standard of reverse discrimination.

More money for the same failures

Oregon Public Schools Threatened By Failing Grades, High Costs And Changing Demographics
Teacher salaries averaging over $40,000, with many earning over $60,000 per year, have combined with declining enrollment and declining educational achievement to pose a Catch-22 dilemma for many Oregon school districts. The way forward for Oregon's students is not promising.

In Oregon, there is an institutionalized hue and cry asserting that the lack of money is always the root cause of public education's failures and the underperformance of our students. In the liberal media and among its supportive politicos, it's always about the lack of money for education in Oregon...It's never about demanding acceptable performance from highly paid educators.

It's like saying that the Ford Pinto wasn't fundamentally flawed, they just needed more money for a better marketing plan.

Letter to Gabriel Rico

I did the post before this and walked away. Actually, being the "handyman" that I am I replaced a light fixture. (NOTE: If an anonymous commenter leaves a comment like "If your such a handyman then how come our garbage disposal still doesn't work" I have no idea who that is.)

But I stewed about that article from the last post. The whole "Latino's need help figuring out the law" or "Latinos are afraid of the police" thing bothers me. It bothers me not so much because my wife is included in that broad brush of people but because it is clearly a disingenious statement that is knowingly made.

Therefore I had to write Gabriel Rico, the Statesmen Journal reporter, to give her a piece of my mind.

Dear Ms. Rico,

Today you wrote an article about my wife. At least, I think that you did. My wife is Hispanic or a Latina, or whatever the race baiters would call her these days. (She simply considers herself an American)

But the article "With help of disc jockeys, police seek Latinos' trust" seems to imply that people like my wife are stupid. Imagine my wife's surprise when she found out that she was scared of the police because she "thought [they] were going to deport [her]." She didn't even know that being a Latino (Latina) was a deportable offense!

Imagine her even greater surprise that perhaps she may need a program about drug awareness (she just thought they were illegal) and traffic laws (which she obeys) simply because of her ethnicity.

And while she does listen to the radio she has never heard of DJs Don Angel and Jose Alfaro. Perhaps you could do a story featuring Lars Larson, a radio personality who she actually does listen to. Or does her ethnicity dictate that she must listen to the Spanish radio stations?

It was difficult to console her after she read this article but I explained that by "Latino" you really meant illegal alien. That's what you meant right? Because Latino's aren't afraid of being deported. Latinos don't need help understanding traffic laws any more than the general population does. Latinos aren't "afraid" of the police are they?

I hope that in the future you will refrain from insulting my wife, and the thousands of other Latinos in this state who are Americans, by correctly labeling the demographic that you are talking about.

Sincerely,
Daniel [My last name]

Calling Latinos stupid

With help of disc jockeys, police seek Latinos' trust
Two popular Willamette Valley disc jockeys soon will bring their Spanish-language radio show to listeners from inside a Salem police car.

Beginning next month, KWIP (880 AM) "La Campeona" DJs Don Angel and Jose Alfaro will join the Salem Police Department in a campaign to reach out to the growing Spanish-speaking community by riding with police on patrol and reporting their adventures to listeners

Confusion and mistrust about the role of local police has hampered other forms of outreach to Latinos, he said.

"We hosted one program to teach about drug awareness, and a lot of people were afraid to come because they thought we were going to deport them," Moore said. "Our job is not to deport people."

"We are very pleased that they are interested in this community," Alfaro said. "Sometimes (Latinos) make mistakes simply because they do not know or understand the rules and laws."

Are you calling Latinos stupid? Are they dumber than the general population who is expected to know and understand the rules and the law?

Oh wait, this isn't about Latinos it's about criminal aliens. And for the record, it's not that they don't "know or understand" the law, they simply don't care about breaking it.

This is a waste of police time and resources. "Reaching out" to a community of criminals while saying "our job is not" to enforce the law is absolutely disgusting.

Saying that Latinos are "confused" and "mistrust" police is a completely racist statement. It's the criminal aliens who, being lawbreakers, don't trust law enforcement. Although it appears their distrust is misplaced, law enforcement just wants to "educate" them and maybe find them some social services.

Governor Atkinson

I just came back from a meeting with fellow bloggers and gubernatorial candidate Senator Jason Atkinson.

It was a very positive experience and further justified my support of this candidate. Senator Atkinson is down to earth, intelligent and really wants to take Oregon in the right direction.

In my first "Why I support Atkinson" post back in August I listed various reasons to get behind his candidacy, most of which were the special interest group ratings. Just a quick rehash:

Planned Parenthood Advocates of Oregon: 0%

NARAL Pro-Choice Oregon: 0%

Taxpayer Association of Oregon: 100%

Oregon Christian Coalition: 100%

The same thing can't be said about Senator Atkinson's opponents.

One of the issues that I'm most passionate about is illegal immigration (Really? We couldn't tell...) and Senator Atkinson was the first to come out and say "no voting, no drivers license, no social services" for illegal aliens. He reiterated this position today.

This is in contradistinction to candidate Mannix whose campaign staffer isn't quite sure what an illegal alien is apparently and I still hold a personal grudge against Mannix for this incident.

While Atkinson is a true gentleman and will not refer to his opponents by name when discussing their differences I am a lone operator and I operate under a different set of rules, namely my own.

So now, the loyal reader are wondering; "What can I do to help this candidate?"

The bare minimum is: you can vote for him! Since you were alreadly planning to do that maybe you would like to see what you can do to make sure that other people vote for him.

Talk to your neighbors, talk to your co-workers, talk to your church, your Cub Scout leaders, the guys that you watch the Superbowl with. (Kulongoski has the "bowling" demographic locked up but since I am going bowling with the scouts on Monday I will try to make a dent in his influence there...)

Second, campaigns run on money. Saxton, you know, the guy who supports abortion, is raising lot's of it. Mannix just takes from the Republican coffers to pay off his personal debt. Senator Atkinson is raising money through grassroots efforts and he plans to be a steward of his campaign money like he has been with tax dollars in the Senate. So rest assured that your donation of $25 or $50 will be stretched to the max. Donations can be sent here and don't forget, it's a new tax year and you can take advantage of Oregon's political tax credit.

Third, the Atkinson Blogger Network will be organizing coordinated posts to get this candidate some national attention. This will probably involve us putting out an email address of someone and asking you to send an email voicing your support for Atkinson and requesting that the subject of our post interview/talk about our candidate. Please take the two minutes to send those emails and please visit the other blogs on the network. They are a good group of people.

The eternal question: Am I short or is Senator Atkinson tall?

Defending ones country

I have often thought that the anti-war crowd was unpatriotic. Not so much because they oppose war, no one likes war, but because the vocal anti-war crowd is usually a bunch of anarchist drug-addicts who have no comprehension of how the world works.

So it was much to my suprise that the movement was preparing to defend against a nuclear attack with our looming problem of Iran.

Of course, the country that they are preparing to defend is Iran!

PREPARE TO DEFEND THE PEOPLE OF IRAN FROM A NUCLEAR ATTACK!
Some of you will know that the regime presently running the USA is now planning, along with the cooperation of NATO (including the UK and Israel), a pre-emptive (first strike) attack on Iran. This attack will probably be to destroy Iran's nuclear reactors and air defences. Most of these defence systems are buried in hardened shelters, deep underground. They are built specifically to withstand the heaviest assault by conventional weapons so what the US intends to use against them are so-called 'tactical mini-nukes', nuclear missile warheads of an explosive yield of anything between half to four or five times the size of the bombs dropped on Hiroshima and Nagasaki.

Clearly the author of this piece, KosmikK, (a misspelling of the word "cosmic") has inside sources very high up in the intelligence community. Or at least he thinks he does, perhaps that last cosmic bong hit caused him to believe that his labrador retriever was a joint chief of staff...

The point is, this person would be killed in Iran. His head would probably be cut off. You don't get to smoke pot, have sex with with random men in a bathhouse, or protest in Iran. But with no perspective and an absolute hatred of the country that gives him his freedoms, KosmikK is willing to defend a country that I'm sure he's never been to and knows very little about.

What causes this rabid hatred and ignorance? Probably a public school education. That and a severe mental disease.

Peace protestors not sounding peaceful

Portland Indymedia has posted pictures of their suspected "snitch" in several anarchist arrests. Keep in mind that these are Democrat voters when you read the next quote:

"Such speculations have recently been confirmed, and I was told to make everyone aware of this person to watch out for her, and to, like one should do with every snitch, erradicate their prescense from the radical community."

Indy allows comments and the fist one starts like this:

"We're all going to have to keep our eyes out for places to hide cameras on one's person. Maybe it's time to expect anyone going to meetings to take off all head gear, sun-glasses and other unnecessary items."

Now I've gone to a few Republican meetings and we never seemed worried about cameras or "snitches." But then again, we weren't discussing breaking the law either.

If you vote Democrat you vote with these people. (and people like "Snoop Dogg") Think about that.

It's for the children Part 3

Potter proposes tax for schools
Mayor Tom Potter proposed an almost 1 percent income tax for city residents to help pay for local schools.

Blah blah blah, read the story for the details. So, we know that the tax is "for the children" right? What do they get out of it? A quick look at what positions the Portland Public Schools are hiring for is very insightful.

ESL /Bilingual Teacher - All Levels TEMP 05-06 School Year

So maybe the tax of for the illegal alien's children who don't speak English. But other than the endless supply of bi-lingual educaters the schools are running lean and mean. It's not as if they are hiring web developers or Psychologists or anything. Oh wait, they are.

Now let's pretend that you want one of these jobs, you know, for the kids. (certainly not for the generous benefits...) Simply contact the HR person.

Did I say "person?" I meant people, all 32 HR people. 32 HUMAN RESOURCES EMPLOYEES? WHY? Duh, it's for the children.

It's for the children Part 2

TEAM A FY 2005-06 BUDGET RECOMMENDATIONS TO THE MAYOR
Mayor Potter took a new approach to developing the Mayor’s Budget for FY 2005-06. He divided the four commissioners into two teams and assigned them various bureau portfolios.

Team A approached this task focusing on what they viewed as frontline services. Commissioners Leonard, Commissioner Saltzman and Mr. Wheeler agreed that frontline services include police, fire, and other public safety services, as well as City parks.

Way down in the budget...

Team A did not accept BHCD’s reductions in the Needle Exchange or portable toilets in St. Francis Park, currently used be many homeless people.

Way to stick up for those "frontline services" Team A! Clearly you represent your constituents: junkies and the homeless. (NOTE: These two demographics frequently overlap)

(OTHER NOTE: That is their grammatical error/typo. I just copy and paste)

The pluralism police

City of Portland Diversity Development Strategic Initiative
OBJECTIVE: Management models a positive attitude regarding diversity in general, and multi-culturalism in particular, by action and participation in the development of standards of acceptable staff behavior.

Require all staff to attend city-sponsored training and require additional training for supervisors as necessary.

Provide time and resources for staff to participate in diversity training and multicultural events.

Time (time = money) and resources (resources = literal money) for diversity indoctrination. Remember, the new tax is for the kids...

OBJECTIVE: At this stage, the goal should be “institutionalized diversity
development” and “enthusiastic multi-culturalism.” Failure to embrace these issues
and to be an active participant should not be tolerated by the City at a management
level.

Everything is tolerated except failure to embrace “enthusiastic multi-culturalism.”

Directors hold managers and supervisory personnel accountable for hiring, promoting and maintaining a diverse workforce through performance evaluations.

This means that minorities and women get better performance reviews.

You can read the rest of this nonsense if you want to scare yourself, you get the idea from these highlights.

Palestine: A terrorist state

Palestinian PM, Cabinet Resigns After Hamas Victory
Hamas won a huge majority in parliamentary elections as Palestinian voters rejected the longtime rule of the Fatah Party, throwing the future of Mideast peacemaking into question, officials from both major parties said Thursday.

Palestinian leader Mahmoud Abbas will ask Hamas to form the next government, with his defeated Fatah Party weighing whether to form a partnership or serve in the opposition.

So...
U.S. State Department:
Current List of Designated Foreign Terrorist Organizations

HAMAS (Islamic Resistance Movement)

Palestine in now officially under control of a terrorist organization. (Cue the liberals who want to give them more land...) What do we do about it?

America has a stated policy of not negotiating with terrorists. All talks with this country and all foreign aid should be cut off and a complete embargo should be enacted.

These are the people who danced in the street on Sept 11th. These people clearly have no interest in peace, only the destruction of Israel and America.

International observers, led by former President Carter, said the elections were "well-administered."

Anytime homicidal maniacs are elected you can always find Carter gushing over how well the elections went.

Side note: Iran hails Hamas victory

Stop the criminal hang-out

Contact Mayor Rilling of Cornelius!
trilling@ci.cornelius.or.us

Dear Mayor Rilling,

It has recently come to my attention that so-called "day laborers" congregate in Cornelius on N 11th and Adair. I had the opportunity to speak to some of these workers and found out two things: they are almost exclusively illegal aliens and they prefer this type of work as opposed to going to a temporary labor agency because this way they can avoid taxes.

I'm sure that you are very familiar with the statistics regarding illegal immigration and livability issues such as crime, drugs and litter. I personally witnessed someone outside the El Centro Cultural drinking beer at 9:00am.

I also notice that city ordinance 785 prohibits the loading and unloading of day laborers on the next street over. I would ask that you consider passing an ordinance to ban the day laborers current area of congregation.

Cornelius should not be a magnet for illegal aliens.

Please ask if you want more background information from me and I would be very interested to hear what your opinion on this issue is.

Thanks in advance for your reply.

Sincerely,
Daniel [my last name]

New Ann Coulter column

Abortion Stops a Bleeding Heart
The Democrats are trying to "reframe" their message to make people think they believe abortion is wrong. I think this is going to be a hard sell if they plan to continue ferociously defending abortion-on-demand right up until the moment the baby's head is through the birth canal.

Coulter condends that Democrats sacrement of abortion is going to come to an end. I'd be more encouraged if republicans, notably republican gubernatorial candidate Ron Saxton, would get the message and stop supporting abortion.

Portland Peak Oil presents: Ecovillage development expert Brandy Gallagher-MacPherson
Ecovillage development expert Brandy Gallagher-MacPherson will be presenting her talk, "Coming Out of the Closet.... How Ecovillages Might be Considered Mainstream (where community meets regulatory reform!)"

First, by creating a brand new re-zoning project which allowed for a 'Sustainable Land Management Design" (a park, an organic farm, an education facility, and an eco-residential housing cluster), secondly by working with building inspectors and engineers on 'natural building' (cob, strawbale, light clay, etc) compliance with building codes, then alternative Waste Water Treatment through the Health Act...

Have none of these eco-freaks read the story of the three little pigs? I consider my house open to people who need help but if you build your house out of straw and it falls down then you are on your own.

I also notice there is no mention of showers...

Only in Portland could an event like this happen.

It's for the children

Although the final form is unclear, it is obvious to me that we will need a temporary tax to save our schools.

-Tom Potter

Fellow taxpayers, it is clear that local government needs more money. It's for the children. Yes, the children. The children who may technically be 35 - 45, living in their parents basement, smoking pot and wearing a beret but it's for the children.

What?

Portland City Council Approves 2% for Art
After a year of review including an audit of its own Percent for Art program, Portland City Council unanimously approved revisions to the Public Art ordinance, and increased the percent for art allocation from 1.33% to 2%, at its January 11th meeting.

Yes, without the new city tax who will pay the artists? How will they afford their soy milk and tofu burgers? Are they doomed to forever live in their parents basement? Do you really want to condemn them to a lifetime of being barefoot? (NOTE: It has just come to my attention that the whole "barefoot" thing may actually be a preference...)

But the point is, Portland is here to be responsible with your money. There is absolutely NO irony in the fact that Tom Potter calls for a 1% tax increase nine days after the city council increases the percent for art program.

It's for the children...

The Oregon connection

Eighteen Illegals Flee Car At Oklahoma Traffic Stop
An early-morning traffic stop by a Yukon policeman led to a full-scale manhunt Tuesday for 18 suspected illegal immigrants.

The FBI, U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement and several state and local law enforcement agencies combed the area near Interstate 40 and Mustang Road after 18 men fled from a traffic stop, officials said.

Officials first contacted the men when Yukon officer Jared Reed said he saw a van swerving on eastbound I-40 and pulled it over.

Reed said he began asking the driver questions, noticing the vehicle had numerous people inside.

The driver handed Reed an Oregon driver's license and answered all of the officer's questions.

Yukon Deputy Chief John Corn said immigration officials then were called to the scene. Corn said the arrival of the transport vehicle may have been what prompted the men to flee.

Why is it that every illegal alien from Washington to Florida has an Oregon drivers license?

At this point I'm very suprised that the rest of the states have not voted to fence us off from the rest of the country. Clearly we are endagering everyones lives with the loony policies that people like Ted Kulongoski, Tom Potter and Lorna Youngs have put in place.

Because these people have been able to operate in this country a customs officer was beat down, four schools were closed and and countless man-hours have been spent trying to find these now fugitives. And those are just what's noted in the news article! Who knows how many drugs were brought here by these people, how many tax dollars wasted, how many wages depressed, how many kids were raped and how many other crimes were committed.

No longer a free market

Oregon AFL-CIO wants large companies to pay for health coverage
Taking aim at the world's largest retailer, the Oregon AFL-CIO plans to file a ballot measure this week to force Wal-Mart and other large Oregon employers to spend more money on health insurance programs for their employees.

The proposed initiative, patterned after a new Maryland law, is part of a nationwide effort by labor unions in about 30 states to try to extend health insurance to more people who currently lack coverage even though they have jobs.

The idea is to make sure that a company like Wal-Mart pays its "fair share" in providing health coverage to workers, Chamberlain said.

And all of this is said the day after Ford announces 30,000 job cuts because of Union mandates. This is so wrong I'm not even sure where to begin.

A company doesn't exist to provide health care, a company exists to make money. That being said, Wal-Mart does go above and beyond the call of duty with their social responsibility.

In 2004, Wal-Mart Stores and SAM'S CLUB gave $1,222,500 to local causes and organizations in the communities they serve in the state of Oregon. In addition, many charities and organizations received in-kind donations and additional funds raised through stores, CLUBS and distribution centers in the amount of $1,074,538, for a grand total of $2,297,038 contributed through Wal-Mart's presence across the state.
SOURCE

And their business paid more than $14.7 million in state and local taxes in the state of Oregon in 2004.

When Unions and government stop dictating to the market and let the market start dictating price and wage again then we will see a resurgence in the number of successful American businesses. Until then we will continue to see companies like Ford and the airlines struggle.

Getting a college education

Lecture series covers ‘intersex’
There were no seats left in the room for attendees

“Common sense dictates that males and females should be classified by the appearance of their genitals. The biological reality is more complex, in terms of variability and mechanisms,” said Vilain. There are classifications such as chromosomal sex, genetic sex, gonadal sex, hormonal sex, internal reproductive structures, external genitalia and “brain sex.”

Of course, common sense. Who wouldn't classify "brain sex" as equal to "actual sex"? It's just common sense.

Concert Rocks the Ballroom
The MU Ballroom was rocked Friday night with the sounds of hip-hop and rap from Northwests artists. Not only did it provide weekend entertainment for class-weary students, but it was for a good cause, too.

The hip-hop/rap show featured live music from artist such as Neema from Unexpected Arrival, Mo X and Lil G, Red Head Steve, Xile and Pain.

It being for "a good cause" aside, listening to lyrics about bitches and hos isn't what college is all about.

On-campus group is ready to Rock 4 Choice
Mention “activism,” and most OSU students will run away faster than you can say “Here comes campus police.” However, this Friday night, the apathetic OSU population will find that activism and hard-rocking are not so far away from one another.

This Friday at 7:30 p.m., Pro-Choice OSU and the Feminist Majority Leadership Alliance will present Rock 4 Choice, a concert and raffle for the new on-campus group Pro-Choice OSU.

The OSU students run from campus police? Why would they do that? Is it because they drive drunk? Is it because they kidnap gay sheep? Is it because they assualt national guard soldiers because they are white? Is it because they try to pay taxi drivers with marijuana? Why?

But seriously, college is all about celebrating sticking forks into babies skulls and sucking their brains out.

Multnomah Counties solution to crime: Teach them how to do it better

A needs and assets assessment of the Hispanic community of Multnomah County

The hidden world of undocumented workers and the informal economy
As described elsewhere in this report, being undocumented
means that:

*The best jobs are usually unavailable.
*Living in poverty is likely.
*Segregated housing is more likely.
*It is more difficult to learn English, given isolation status.
*Many educational opportunities are not available.
*Children, may believe there are few reasons to stay in school.
*The best opportunities may not be in formal employment, but
rather informal activities.

Uh, no... being "undocumented" means that you are breaking multiple laws. You are in this country illegaly. You are a criminal.

Informal activities are different from criminal ones in that they include goods and services that are legal, but whose production and marketing are unregulated and untaxed.

That's how it's different than criminals activities. It is very similair to criminal activities in the fact that it's... wait for it... A CRIME! Again, they can't work legally, they committ perjury on their I-9 and then fraud and ID theft on their W-4. Then they commit tax evasion and various violations of regulations.

But the criminal element of this is not a problem for Multnomah County, the problem for them is that these criminals are being exploited! And their solution to this problem?

Employment recommendations
Outcome:
To increase opportunities for Latinos/Latinas to own small businesses
or micro-enterprise ventures.

Examples of micro-enterprises include; landscape maintenance, childcare, personal and residential services.

Increase availability of literacy and ESL classes to fit the needs of community such as through provision of childcare, evening hours, transportation and easy community access.

No word on whether or not there will be drinking fountains labeled "Latinos only" in Multnomah County.

How a few Americans struck fear into a foreign government

The Cornelius protest wasn't even much of a protest. It was just a few of us walking around the building, trying to talk to people and taking pictures.

But evidence of how much one or two people can make a difference: We scared the crap out of the Mexican government.

Whether it was hiding behind the blinds while waiting for us to leave...

Or covering up the side-doors with paper when we would stop and look inside from the sidewalk...

it was clear that a couple of bloggers were capable of throwing a wrench into the plans of a foreign, and hostile, government.

When we changed positions to take advantage of the public alley that ran next to the building they huddled together in a conference while at the same time trying to hide behind the pillars.

And when the cameras came out it seemed that everyone was shy... either that or they realize that they are criminals and wanted to hide their faces.

And the Mexican Consul General, THIS MAN, is too scared to talk to me or even make eye contact. (and I asked him for a minute of his time every time he walked outside) Actually, I was able to walk up and shake his hand when he first arrived, before I had been kicked off the property. He wasn't very enthuisastic to see me.

Another blogger posts on El Centro Criminal

Polish Immigrant has his story of the El Centro Cultural nonsense as well as a compilation of all posts done by the bloggers who were there.

My morning laugh

Greg at Oregon Billboard did a great post on the person I call "squinty" from yesterday's protest. Great picture of her too. Read it and chuckle. And Greg, you know that she's going to sue you now too right? With her law licence and all. Yeah, she has one. Uh huh...

But, if you are new to the thread here, start five posts down making sure to go to the other bloggers links who describe the day in their own way.

And thanks to all of you leaving comments. I appreciate the feedback. I also really appreciate that some of the criminal enablers who were there read my stuff.

This is squinty.
AKA Harvard
AKA The college Grad

She was so rude to us while at the same time insisting that she "knows the law" and was "going to sue me" that we couldn't settle on just one nickname. In the face of my logic on the issue of illegal aliens all she could do was shake her head and squint.

But enough about squinty. I'd like to point out why it is important to stop this nonsense. The livability of an area goes down when it becomes a magnet for illegal aliens. I spoke to someone who lives across the street from El Centro Cultural and he told me how there are always groups of guys in the parking lot drinking even when the building is closed.

I personally witnessed one guy drinking his beer in the parking lot.

If any of you have seen pictures of the border you have seen the garbage that is strewn about. What's ironic here is that this is right next to a dumpster, the just choose to throw it on the ground instead.

It looks as if the neighbors across the street got tired of the day laborers at one point and the city had to issue an ordinance.

Of course, the area where the day laborers congregate had litter on the ground as well.

These people have no respect for laws, no respect for the communties they live in, no respect for even the areas where they congregate. A city that wants this kind of stuff is a city asking for trouble.

Cornelius Protest: Part quatro

Once again, if you are new to the thread please start at the beginning. (four posts down at this point) and then head on over to Greg's site and see his post on today's events.

What did I do today? I hung out with illegal aliens!

The play by play left off at Part Dos. (Part Tres was a divergence from the script)

After going back to the front of El Centro Criminal we stood in front of the building wondering what was the best way to cause the criminals inside to be nervous and make the point that we weren't going to go away.

A woman got the city manager on the phone and I asked him about an alley that ran adjacent to the building and was as close to the front door as you could get without being on the property. He informed me that this was a public right-of-way so we rushed on.

This cause much concern amongst the consulate and they quickly huddled a group together to try to figure out what to do about us. This was because now their criminal customers weren't comforable coming out the front door only to run into our cameras.

Quick question: When you feel guilty what does that mean? It means you're doing something wrong! It was a beautiful site to see these people acting like the criminals that they are.

We decided to get scientific and two tactics were then employed: If they hurried past us without making eye contact they got their picture taken.

Notice this fine scientific specimen: criminlus wonttalktodanielus
You will note the plumage they exibit at the end of their upper appendages. It closely resembles that of an official Oregon logo. This diplay helps the specimen camoflouge better if foreign environments. It's like evolution except it's more of a mutation since the state plays a Dr. Jekyl type character in the whole proccess.

If eye contact was made I would attempt to engage the specimen in conversation. (Greg was operating the camera at this point) Like in hunting, various calls were used to attract different species. (basically I would use "proper" spanish or slang spanish) After an intial spanish phrase I would then experiment to see if the specimen spoke any English.

Once a light-hearted conversation about the lack of rain or such I would then attempt to corner my prey by asking about their matricula and if they would take pictures with me.

Thus you end up with never before seen in-the-wild pictures of me with a fine specimen of illegala butwilltalktodaniela. Several of these were encountered throughout the safari. They can be easily idenfied by their good-natured smile that says "it doesn't matter if I'm illegal, there's nothing you can do." Or you can identify them by their Matricula card...

Certainly my least favorite of the species was one of the most common: the dreaded actualcitizen butigoresdaniellikeasmallandimmaturechildwould. This is a very dangeous species. While not belonging to the parasite family illegala or criminalus they form a sort of symbiotic relationship with those two species. In my scientific opinion this is because they share the same fur color, nothing more. Clearly this is a primitive species to rely on such racist, err,
superficial identifyers.

Photos of these speciments include:

This was one of the dominant males a worksus foraforeigngovernus. Or in laymans terms, the Consul General. I have encountered this precise specimen multiple times before and he has since shied away from human contact after our first encounter during which my nature calls seem to have made him uncomforable. This animal is very territorial and will often appear agitated in my presence.

The Consular General specimen was usually in a head-bent-down position so as not to make eye contact as he wandered back and forth attmepting to establish his "territory." No word on whether or not he peed on any trees to accomplish this goal. It was very clear that we were higher on the food chain and were not going to reliquish the territory we had established as our own.

A subspecies of the acualcitizen genus is the imastaworkersaurus butiwillstillingorus. The curious thing about these creatures is that they depend on us for their very survival but treat us with the utmost disrespect.
"
The females of this species can be idenfied by the short fur on top of their head. They are not know to procreate so they are constantly hiring, err, bringing new specimens into their herd.

This is the exact vehicle that the above pictured specimen uses to roam her vast territory.

I realize that I kind of got off track with my whole safari theme here... well, next post will be the entire gallery of the woman who says she will sue me if I post her picture. (I hope that you are reading this squinty eyes, I'm sooo sure that your lawyer is on retainer and just itching for the chance to... I'm not sure what, or maybe you have a law license yourself? Do you squinty? You seem smart. In fact, I'm sure that you are a lawyer yourself. Harvard Law right? Yeah, it shows. I'll keep you waiting a little bit though)

Cornelius protest: Part tres

Start three posts down to see this from the begining (part uno and dos) and make sure you check out the other blogger's links who were there with me.

Let's get right to the meat and potatos:

The person on the right is me, the person on the left is Benjamin*. That thing in Benjamin's hand? A Matricula Consular Card, a sham ID that is accepted by the Oregon DMV so that illegal aliens can get drivers licenses.

Why does this matter? Because the drivers license is the number one form of ID we use and we are outsourcing it's integrity and security to Mexico. We can't verify the authenticity of the Matricula card, we simply take it at face value regardless how stingent or lax the standard is to get one of these cards.

Today these cards were passed out at El Centro Cultural.

Now I know what your thinking: Daniel, why are you harrassing those poor undocumented immigrants, they just come here to do jobs that American's won't do.

I know, it's with those jobs that they can afford cars like this:

So yes, I'm feeling really sorry for them at this point. So thankfully our state agencies were inside to help those families that contribute so much to our economy...

It's wonderful that families like this one who probably pay no income tax and maybe a few thousand in property taxes get schooling, health care, food, etc for their children. And yes, those are official "Oregon Worksource" bags they are carrying. Your tax dollars at work.

*Names not changed to protect the innoncent, they aren't innoncent, they are criminal aliens.

Cornelius protest: Part dos

Start at the post below this to get the info from the beginning. Then check out RINO Watch for his post. I just want to say that the group of people that I met today are some stand up citizens and genuinely enjoyable to be with.

Back to bussiness:

I left off with the Cornelius PD showing up (having been called by the criminals) and the officer was a good guy, when I told him that I saw a guy drinking behind a dumpster on the property he wasn't surprised. He left but the police kept a presence by driving by occasionally.

So we decided to go take some pictures with the day laborers:

"Hardworking" criminals waiting for some unscrupulous person to pick them up. (I caught one, more later)

Both Jay and I stuck our thumbs out in an attempt to get work until we realized that this was work that "American's won't do."

There you have Ron and I. Ron was willing to talk to me (in broken English) and answer my questions. In a genuine effort to help I suggested that he try a Temp agency for work. He shook his head and told me that then he would have to pay taxes! Imagine the indignity of paying taxes. I had to agree with Ron that the notion was absurd.

So who are the people that pick up day laborers, pay them in cash, and don't care about the law?

The owner of this blue Dodge truck is someone who does!!!!

The truck pulled up and like Hyenas the criminal aliens swarmed... that is until I got right in front of it and took a picture of the license plate! At that point they all laughed at the guy like he had been busted. You can't see the driver in this pic but he had his face in his hands. Needless to say, he didn't get to employ and illegal aliens today!

In a effort to break these posts up I'm going to stop now, stay tuned for more including me with an illegal alien who is proudly displaying his Matricula Card!

Cornelius consulate visit

Start by reading Jay's post. He did a good one. (And I know just who that shrill lady must have been)

Then I'll tease you by saying that I WAS IN THE BELLY OF THE BEAST! That's right. I showed up before all the people who know who I am got there and I got inside to see DHS and DCBS setting up their tables and even got some of the little goodies they offer:

They even gave me a piece of candy! Errr, your tax dollars even gave me that piece of candy.

Spanish comics don't really make sense to me but I think that it says: I want to take American's jobs! The comic is courtesy of the USDOJ.

Why not come to Oregon where you can get health care at taxpayer expense? You can see that this is the Spanish OHP.

At this point someone from the consulate (who I didn't know) asked me if I had an appointment. I left the room and went to the lobby of the "cultural center" where I was promptly surrounded by everyone. A worker there wanted to know what I was doing and if I wanted to talk to him.

I gave him my speech on respecting legal immigrants, this is a great country, blah blah AND I HAVE NO RESPECT FOR ILLEGAL ALIENS WHO ARE CRIMINALS. They are stealing and it's wrong to help them commit their crimes. At this point I was told to leave the building.

So I stood right out the front door and made small talk with anyone who would listen. It was going great until this squinty-eyed woman (who says she is going to sue me) started screaming at me. (We have since nick-named her "the college grad" or "Harvard" for short)

A little while later and they realized that they could kick me off of their property all together. As I was re-parking guess who shows up: Senator Bruce Starr!

Please take a minute to email him some thanks! He went inside to witness for himself what was really going on and says that department heads have some things to answer for after what he saw.

(At this time the illegal alien lobby had called the cops on me...) More in a later post, come back it's worth it!

We went around back to the "day labor" area and had some good conversations with the criminal aliens and I busted someone trying to pick them up! Stay tuned... I have to eat!

My favorite thing about "El Centro Cultural"

LAW ENFORCEMENT CONTACTS POLICY AND DATA REVIEW COMMITTEE
El Centro Cultural is used, at international, national, state and local levels, as a tool for outreach to the community where members can be heard without fear of retribution, regardless of their immigration status.

Louie described El Centro Cultural as a physical location that is identified as a positive and safe place for the Latino community, through which members of the community can raise issues. Rubenstein stated his belief that the Washington County community, especially in Hillsboro and Cornelius, truly knows that the police follow Oregon state law regarding immigration status.

This is a key issue in law enforcement agencies’ ability to provide basic police services to their communities. Louie emphasized that working with El Centro Cultural allows the Hillsboro Police Department to hear what the Latino community has to say.

Yes, there should always be a place for criminals where they can go without fear of "retribution" for their crimes.

But I, your humble blogger, am on my way to this criminal sanctuary to protest/infiltrate/stop the Mobile Mexican Consulate and our state agencies from further assisting criminal aliens. Or maybe I'll just get myself a Matricula Card and change the URL of my site to JorgeJuanLopezMendezisright.blogspot.com...

The party of the little people... who are subject to the state

Welcome to the official website for the Democratic Party of Multnomah County Oregon. As Democrats, we are dedicated to making people's lives better. Our vision is to restore an effective and efficient government that will respect your rights, count your votes, rebuild the economy, and restore accountability.

Read it again. Who is going to do everything? Government! Democrats are not the party of the little guy, they are the party of government. This is most apparent in their support of the eminent domain ruling where people are kicked out of their houses and businesses so that new and "better" houses or businesses can provide government with more tax revenue.

We don't need government to "rebuild the economy," government isn't a revenue producing entity, get it the hell out of the way so that citizens can rebuild the economy!

The goal post has been moved

Wyden to oppose Alito
Oregon Sen. Ron Wyden said Friday he will oppose Supreme Court nominee Samuel Alito, saying he is not convinced that Alito will bring an impartial viewpoint to the court.

As opposed to ACLU attorneys who always bring an impartial viewpoint.

“I cannot reconcile the seemingly moderate and amiable jurist of the past few weeks” with Alito’s two-decade record as a federal appeals court judge and official in the Reagan and Bush administrations, Wyden said Friday.

Read: He doesn't support a woman's right to kill a baby for conveniance.

The goal post for what it takes to confirm a judicial nominee has moved dramatically. It is no longer good enough to say that the Judge is "qualified" but now his personal views are reason to disqualify him or her. I hope that we remember this next time a Democrat nominates someone.

Republicans should oppose anyone who supports Roe V. Wade. The litmus test needs to work both ways.

A win for law and order

Or as Portland Indymedia calls it:
Murderer Scott McCollister to be Rewarded (Again.)
It's been a few years now, since a young mother was gunned down on a cold, dark ramp near the freeway. Kendra James was only 21 years old on the night she took her last breath and bled her life away through the jagged hole made by a police bullet.

Only in Portland could a crack addict be described so lovingly...

From the (slightly less left-wing news)
Officer To Receive Back Pay, Benefits After Fatal Shooting
The city says Officer Scott McCollister, who was suspended without pay, is now entitled to that salary, worth five and a half months along with benefits with interest.

He should also get a medal for his public service.

Keep the pressure on

Be here tommorow: Centro Cultural

What is Centro Cultural?

We serve primarily Western Washington County by providing education and empowerment programs such as English as a Second Language, Spanish Literacy, Computer Technology, Job training, Day Labor, Cultural Values, Leadership Training and community organizing, Information and Referral and a Hot Meals program. Centro also promotes the Latino.

A racial promotion group. Nice.

Why be there? We will be protesting the Mexican Mobile Consulate and state agencies helping out criminal aliens who have no right to the social serives they will be receiving!

Operation ID

I'm a U.S. citizen living in Oregon and I CAN PROVE IT!

Victoria Taft has started "Operation ID." Go to the link above, print the letter, sign it and send it to the adress at the bottom of the page. Victoria will deliver the stack of letters to Governor Kulongoski and Bill Bradbury!

Also, I will be in Cornelius on Saturday to protest the first Mobile Mexican Consulate of the year. I will bring copies of the letter for any of you who don't want to use the ink yourself. You just supply the signature and stamp!

And here lies the problem

Kidnapped Journalist's Mother Pleads With Captors
"They've picked the wrong person. If they're looking for someone who is an enemy of Iraq, Jill is just the opposite," Mary Beth Carroll told a major news network.

"I, her father and her sister are appealing directly to her captors to release this young woman who has worked so hard to show the sufferings of Iraqis to the world," she said, reading from a written statement.

While I pray for this womans safety and feel terrible sorrow for the family I think that they have demonstrated the fundamental misunderstanding about terrorists. They didn't "pick the wrong person" because to a terrorist there is no "wrong person."

It is beyond even killing just "infidels" or non-muslims, they will kill anyone. You can't plead with them, negotiate with them, placate them, or convince them that you are not their enemy. The only thing you can do is neutralize them. I wish that more people would understand this.

Funniest column ever!

'Chocolate City' Sprinkled With Nuts
Madam Hillary also said the Bush administration "will go down in history as one of the worst that has ever governed our country." While Hillary is certainly qualified to comment on what the all-time worst presidential administrations were, having had firsthand experience in one of them, I think she might want to avoid the phrase "go down in history."

This is the funniest Ann Coulter column since the "Osama now eligible for pre-boarding" one. I laughed out loud multiple times. For you liberals out there, "laughing" is the audible result of finding amusement in something funny. And this is funny! Read it!

Perhaps public art will help Kelley Wirth (D)-Jail

The Regional Arts & Culture Council in Portland, Oregon, is seeking artists for two public art opportunities at the Multnomah County Family Services Unit (FSU), 421 SW 5th Avenue, Portland. The Family Services Unit serves medium and high risk adult parolees with primary responsibility for very young children, families with juveniles under supervision as well as medium or high risk adult offenders. The goal of FSU is to build a positive and safe community by reducing intergenerational criminal behavior, promoting positive change in offenders, and impacting family relationships. Artwork that either literally or metaphorically is about families, relationships and associated activities will be considered. 1) Direct Purchase/Commission a collection of two-dimensional artworks from various artists; budget $15,000. 2) Site specific work for 7th Floor lobby space; budget $8,000.

Congrats to Portland taxpayers who are about to spend $24,000 on artwork for felons to look at.

Also, the percent for art program went from 1.33% to 2%. That means that the next time they spend $58 million to build an empty jail it will require $1,160,000 in artwork. I can now see why Oregon has assisted suicide...

NumbersUSA

If you haven't used the NumbersUSA site yet then get over there to send free faxes to congress, the president, and other decision makers on the illegal alien issue. For those of you who do use the site they have posted a new fax!

To President Bush: Praise Ambassador Garza's statement
"'There is no human right to enter another country in violation of its laws,' Garza wrote. 'Illegal immigration is a threat to our system of laws and an affront to the millions around the world, including in Mexico, who play by the rules in seeking to come to the United States.'"

You can't be serious

The mobile Mexican consulate will continue it's criminal operations around the state.

Their next stop is this Saturday, the 21st, in Cornelius.

Centro Cultural Cornelius
1110 N Adair St.
Cornelius, OR 97113

I'm just disgusted right now. I plan on being there, hope to see you as well.

I'm shocked

Two former UO students eco-terrorist suspects
Two former University students are among six suspected eco-terrorists arrested in December during a nationwide crackdown against violent environmental demonstrators.

Chelsea Dawn Gerlach, a South Eugene High School graduate, and Sarah Kendall Harvey, a former Eugene resident, are both suspects in the toppling in 1999 of a power transmission tower in Bend.

I regularly topple power transmissiion towers during demonstrations... oh wait, no I don't.

The Axis of Enviros: Portland, Ashland, Eugene. They must be dealt with harshly.

Where we are heading

Holland's Euthanasia Law

Specifically allows euthanasia for incompetent patients. Persons 16 years old and older can make an advance "written statement containing a request for termination of life" which the physician may carry out. [Chapter II, Article 2, 2.] The written statement need not be made in conjunction with any particular medical condition.

Teenagers 16 to 18 years old may request and receive euthanasia or assisted suicide. A parent or guardian must "have been involved in decision process," but need not agree or approve.

Children 12 to 16 years old may request and receive euthanasia or assisted suicide. A parent or guardian must "agree with the termination of life or the assisted suicide."

It starts as something voluntary, it moves to a coerced situation when people don't want to burden their families, it move to and even more coerced/forced situation when the state doesn't want to be burdered, soon the "undesirables" are being killed in droves.

Kids who had a bad day at school or a fight with their parents can receive suicide assistance from the state. Life will be devalued.

Thanks Oregon.

The hardcore

FBI's 10 most wanted

JORGE ALBERTO LOPEZ-OROZCO
Nationality: Mexican

DIEGO LEON MONTOYA SANCHEZ
Nationality: Colombian

GENERO ESPINOSA DORANTES
Nationality: Mexican

He may be involved in the transportation of illegal aliens from Mexico into the United States. He may travel to North Carolina, Florida, Texas, or Mexico.

Why are three out of the ten most wanted people on the list not American citizens? You don't get on this list by picking berries too slow. Read what these people did and then get some bricks and mortar, we're building a wall!

Finally!

Clackamas lawmaker calls for investigation of state's participation in immigrant outreach
Concerns that Oregon is actively recruiting illegal immigrants to receive services has prompted an inquiry from a state legislator.

House Rep. Linda Flores is asking Department of Human Services officials to explain their participation with the Mexican Consulate's mobile outreach program.

Of course, Gabriel Rico doesn't give any background information. Here it is:

Previous post summarizing the first protest I was involved in.

Previous post with links to all my pictures (some real classics), newspaper articles (with quotes by me) and much more on this event that is thankfully going to come to an end!

Thanks to all of you who have been contacting Rep Flores. You have obviously made a difference. And thanks to all of you who joined us in protest at these events and thanks to Oregonians for Immigration Reform for organizing and coordinating these efforts!

And sugar plums too?

"It's time for us to come together. It's time for us to rebuild New Orleans — the one that should be a chocolate New Orleans."

-Mayor Ray Nagin

Is it going to be like Willy Wonka's chocolate factory? Will there be oompa loompa's?

Still trying to define "social engineering"

Conference interprets ‘culturally competent’
“What is Cultural Competency? A Series of Conversations” spawned myriad questions, answers and opinions Thursday and Friday on what it means to be culturally competent and how to accomplish the task.

The general consensus of forum participants was that cultural competency is the ability to work alongside a broad array of people. How and when that is achieved, however, was debated.

See my previous post for the way that this nonsense has been defined (and re-defined) in the past. I think that they keep changing it because it's hard to push it on the public in it's current form.

Examples: Rather, cultural competence entails actively challenging the status quo and advocating for equity and social justice.

Exhibits awareness of key concepts: privilege, affirmative action, assimilation vs.pluralism, color blindness vs. color awareness, meritocracy, etc.

That's a little different than the ability to work with people. (which is a skill that the market takes care of pretty well right now, if you can't work with people then you get fired) What our elitist masters evision doing with Cultural Competency is damning caucasion males for their supposed "white privilege" and fighting for "social justice" such as the right to live on public property in a bum emcampment at taxpayer expense.

Hide the children

Hillary is coming to Portland! Perhaps she can visit our very own "village" that it take to raise a child, or at least give a child-like adult somewhere to be lazy... Dignity Village.

Self-important idiots congratulate themselves for bravery

That's it, I can't take it anymore. Amongst my fellow bloggers (you can see their sites to the right) I am going to take a brave stand. One that could bring scorn and ridicule to me. But here it is: I believe that art should not be publicly funded. THAT'S RIGHT.

Noise from the right-wing blogosphere: Ooooh Daniel, you're soooo brave. Let's all stand together and give each other awards. No, no, not from people outside of our group, just amongst ourselves. Let's give Daniel an award for his brave stance on public art. We'll all wear $10,000 dresses to our ceremony (in the case of the women... and possibly me... hmmmm) and then talk about starving children.

Such is the case of the Golden Globes, the Emmy's and whatever other ridiculous awards ceremonies that exist amongst the self-important "celebreties."

As you now know the film Bareback Mounting, errr, Brokeback Mountain has collected several awards for it's "brave" portrayal of gay cowboys. (something we have yet to see in real life as cowboys don't choose to be gay like interior decorators as a career move or college students do to get attention or to get back and mommy and daddy)

Actual quote from gay author of a film:

"I know as actors our job is usually to shed our skins, but I think as people our job is to become who we really are, and so I would like to salute the men and women who brave ostracism, alienation and a life lived on the margins to become who they really are," Huffman said.

No doubt Mr. (or Miss?) Huffman is worried that he could be ostracized by his fellow "celebreties" or the NY Times editorial page. The Passion of The Christ gets shunned by Hollywood and the major media and Mel Gibson is called a Jew-baiter.

But someone makes a film about cowboys who screw each other and amongst the awards, fanfare and adulation they are hailed as "brave."

Let this be a lesson in the liberal definition of "bravery" which is also why we don't see many liberals in the military.

Words escape me...

All I can say is... DON'T DO DRUGS!

If you do drugs then you will end up hanging out with the "legalize it" crowd at OregonNORML and put together a comic strip like this very disturbing piece:

The Adventures of MOTA, the Oregon NORML Roach

For those of you who don't know, "mota" is Spanish for marijuana. (The irony of the Mexican connection here has not escaped me...)

NOTE: There is a Quicktime element to this but I chose not to install it and listen to the theme song by "smoke dogg" (marijuana use causes the misspelling of simple words like "dog")

Notice how the roach, right before he uh, has intercourse with the joint, talks about how Oregon is the only state where you can posses a pound and a half of weed. Yes, only in Oregon...

Criminals aliens need help buying homes

Tools can help Spanish speakers avoid fraud
Mortgage documents and real estate disclosure statements are hard enough to understand for people whose first language is English. For those whose first language may be Spanish or Chinese or Russian, buying a home in the United States can be especially difficult.
Note: The whole "Chinese or Russian" thing was put in to throw you off the trail. This is about illegal aliens.

Hispanics are vulnerable because they prefer to work with professionals who speak Spanish, and that can expose them to the people who seek to exploit that, he said. Scam artists even use Spanish advertising to lure their victims, he said.
Hispanics prefer to work with people who speak Spanish? I'd love to have Scott Maben provide a source for his made-up little fact. What he meant to say was that Mexican citizens who are in this country illegaly prefer to speak Spanish.

Fraudulent practices include encouraging a buyer who lacks documentation of residency to use a false Social Security number in applying for a home loan. Buyers who do that not only break the law, they could lose their homes, Valez said.
Why wouldn't they think it was ok? The state of Oregon encourages them to do it with their drivers license numbers and employment applications. Once you've done it a few times and you realize that no one is actually verifying the numbers you start to think you can use them anywhere.

By the way, congratualtions to YOU loyal reader, you just got a drivers license under the name of Juan Mendoza-Lopez. Or at least according to your SSN you did...

Job description

Just so there is no confusion, let me tell you what the job of a criminal defense attorney is and isn't.

It isn't to "get you off" on a crime that you did commit.

It isn't so that you have someone to blame when you are sitting in jail.

It isn't to come up with wild alternate theories on who committed your crime.

It isn't to convince a jury that you didn't commit a crime you did.

It isn't to convince the judge that your feelings were hurt when you got arrested.

It is to offer the best defense they can based on your situation. If you did it then what can they do?

It is to keep you from getting convicted if you didn't do it.

I really believe that's what the framers had in mind. It sure makes more sense than what we have accepted as normal these days.

What would you do?

Situation:

A terrorist attack is imminent and the suspects are in your site, do you:

a) do what George Clooney would do and try to "understand" them

b) do what an ACLU attorney would do and make sure their "rights" aren't violated during the commision of their attack

c) do what Jack Bauer would do and shoot, knife, kick, punch and disembowel them until they are no longer a threat

If you answered "c" then you are a good American.

If you answered "a" or "b" then get out of my country. And if you are a male (not a man) and you are married then leave your wife and kids behind because you obviously can't protect them.

Only 9 hours and 50 minutes until the next episode of 24...

Now I see where they get their "buying power"

Bust nets meth, several arrests
Oregon State Police troopers pulled over a 1996 Chevrolet Tahoe south of Medford at milepost 18. During the stop, the troopers received consent to search the vehicle. Drug-detection dog Cookie was sent to the scene and "alerted" on the vehicle.

The search yielded 8.5 pounds of methamphetamine, with an estimated street value of between $90,000 and $100,000, officials said. In addition, $12,000 in cash was confiscated by the troopers.

The Tahoe’s driver was identified as 27-year-old Bertoldo Orta-Garcia. The passengers were 45-year-old Jose Lopez-Vasquez and 25-year-old Feliz Pacheco.

They also were put on immigration holds.

Congrats to the Mail-Tribune for mentioning the immigration hold. I now see the much touted "buying power" that is attributed to Spanish-speaking immigrants. Places like Wells-Fargo are just itching to store $12,000 in drug money.

Also, does anyone care if these criminals had a drivers license? I think that it would be better if they didn't, that gurantees a search of the vehicle by the cops rather than relying on consent. How many drug busts have gotten away because the driver had a license? (and a trunk full of drugs)

Bending over backwords for criminals

Fight over rules could limit use of Oregon ID
The Oregon driver's license is evolving -- under federal pressure -- from a simple proof of driving ability into a high-tech weapon against terrorism, identity theft and illegal immigration. Or, depending on your point of view, a frightening new tool for government spying.

If a drivers license that actually proves who you are, a license with requirements that all but a few states already have, is a "frightening" tool for government spying to you then your tin-foil hat is on too tight.

Oregon lawmakers approved some driver's license changes last year, but not the most controversial proposal, requiring evidence of citizenship or legal residence in the United States to get a license. Oregon is one of less than a dozen states without such a requirement.

But if the 2007 Legislature doesn't impose the citizenship restriction, the state's residents won't be able to use their license to board an airplane or enter a federal courthouse under a law President Bush signed last spring.

With our state government's track record we will probably sacrifice the citizens in order to continue to cater to the criminal alien demographic.

Leyva-Johnson argues that making it harder for people to get driver's licenses will encourage them to drive without a license -- and without insurance.

And locking your car doors is just more likely to make the burglar smash a window to get your stereo so just leave the doors open. Good logic.
