I can tell by the comments to my last post that some people don't understand my philosphy. When I say that high taxes are morally wrong I don't just mean if they apply to me. Just like I think that ALL theft is wrong, not just theft of my property.
It doesn't matter if I'm in the top bracket or not. That's not the point. And please keep in mind that you are only thinking INCOME TAX when you talk like that. If Obama gives me a small INCOME TAX break and then raises an ENERGY TAX am I giving less of my paycheck to government?
Politicians want to spend your money. They can't get it all from the top income tax bracket. The attitude of "rape anyone you want as long as it's not my wife or daughter" sickens me but in this case it shows a fundamental misunderstanding of the tentacles that our ruling elite have in our wallets.

Keep your laws off my wallet
Conservatives don't want low taxes to stimulate the economy, that's just a pleasant side effect, we want low taxes because it's morally repugnant to take people's hard earned money to spend on needle exchange programs, grape genetics studies and monuments to politicians.
If you think that taxes should be higher then why wait for them to actually get raised? Start sending that extra check to the government today!

The high volume of purchases and stockpiling of weapons and ammunition by rightwing extremists in anticipation of restrictions and bans in some parts of the country continue to be a primary concern to law enforcement.
Oh... my... goodness... people are buying legal products?!?!?!? I can see how that would be a concern to law enforcement.
Both rightwing extremists and law-abiding citizens share a belief that rising crime rates attributed to a slumping economy make the purchase of legitimate firearms a wise move at this time.
I guess that rightwing extremists are not law-abiding citizens as they are seperated here.
Debates over appropriate immigration levels and enforcement policy generally fall within the realm of protected political speech under the First Amendment, but in some cases, anti immigration or strident pro-enforcement fervor has been directed against specific groups and has the potential to turn violent.
I'm so thankful that debate on this issue "generally" falls within protected speech. I'm not aware of or advocating violence of course but I think that the "specific group" that our anger is being directed at is the group of "illegal aliens" and their politician supporters. Imagine that.

State or Oregon: break the law for farms
State of Oregon Agriculture
Oregon, along with neighboring states of Washington and California, typically has the highest agricultural wage rates in the US (excluding Hawaii), averaging nearly $11.00 per hour. Wages in Mexico are less than $4.00 per day. Even at present wage rates, it is difficult to attract domestic workers to on-farm jobs. However, workers from Mexico find these wages attractive and have been willing to enter the US under illegal conditions to work in agriculture.
Policy recommendations
Urge Congress and the President to quickly pass immigration reform legislation so that employers and employees know the rules and processes for legal employment in agriculture.
Repeal legislation requiring proof of citizenship for an Oregon's driver's license.
Your state department of Agriculture at work. Their primary concern is that we shouldn't require that drivers be legal citizens.
And while I'm sure that workers from Mexico are willing to break the law for $11/hour is there any chance that a legal worker from Oregon who is one of the 12% unemployed might be willing to work legally for that wage?
Does the department of agriculture want to give employment opportunities to Oregonians or Mexicans?

A new diversity report reveals that while many defendants are "criminals," the judges presiding over their trials are "law-abiding" citizens.
"It just goes to show that historical inequalities haven't changed much in the last few decades," says a new taxpayer funded task force. The task force, created by the Supervisor of diversity and equality for minorities, has been studying the alarming rate of convictions of people accused of crimes.
"Criminals are disproportionaly locked up when you compare their incarceration rate to that of the general public," said Juan Garcia, a senior member of the task force and recently paroled felon. "Juries are looking at the crimes rather than the troubled childhood of the defendant."
The task force has recommended that newly appointed judges also be current or former inmates in our criminal justice system. "The constitution clearly says that defendants should be given a trial by their peers, that means a drug dealing rapist should have a like-minded person presiding over their trial."
"Dude, you got a hit?" asked one judge recently appointed after the task force report came out. "It's like, I see my old homies on trial, and like, I just, like, tell that prosecutor to shut up, you know what I'm saying?"

Miguel Sachez of the association says "criminals really are discriminated against as a group when it comes to judicial positions, if we are to be a truly diverse and tolerant society we just can't let this go on."

The solution: make everyone poor

Most billing revenue in Oregon FQHCs comes from billing public insurance programs. As expected, a strong relationship exists between billing revenues and the percent of uninsured visits: the more clients enrolled in public insurance, the more opportunity exists to bill and generate revenues.
Translated: the more poor people dependent on government health care the better the "opportunity" to bill one government agency to pay another government agency.
Data also showed that school socioeconomic indicators such as the percent of students eligible for free and reduced lunch might be good indicators of the percent of student clients with public insurance. However, there may be some limitations to this approach in areas where there are large numbers of undocumented immigrant populations who, if enrolled in school and meet family income definitions, may inflate free and reduced lunch rates.
So we have government agencies tracking you once you are enrolled in one "free" program to determine if they should institute another "free" program. You are nothing but sheeple being used to generate revenue and provide beauracrats with jobs. The government wants you poor so that they have control of your health care, your food supply, your energy usage and much more.
At least I have finally found a use for illegal aliens: the ones who get free lunches (and how many do you think don't qualify since their parents can't legally have an income) throw off the numbers for statistical analysis in this case.

Obama: laws don't matter
Obama to Push Immigration Bill Despite the Risks
While acknowledging that the recession makes the political battle more difficult, President Obama plans to begin addressing the country’s immigration system this year, including looking for a path for illegal immigrants to become legal, a senior administration official said on Wednesday.
He said [during the campaign[ that comprehensive immigration legislation, including a plan to make legal status possible for an estimated 12 million illegal immigrants, would be a priority in his first year in office. Latino voters turned out strongly for Mr. Obama in the election.
The president wants to give mass pardons to people who:
1. broke our immigration laws
2. broke our labor laws
3. broke our tax laws
4. broke our perjury laws
5. and did I mention that by "broke" I mean "are continuing to break up until the day they get this mass pardon."
We will fight this again and we will stop it because Americans don't want this. The elite want it but we do not.
Our immigration system is not "broken." Our laws are just not being enforced. Remove the incentive to break into our country, strengthen security at the border and this problem is solved.
Legalizing what is currently illegal does not solve any problem. You can stop the high rate of arrest for unathorized use of a motor vehicle if you make car theft legal... but the people whose cars are stolen won't be any happier.

A Springfield man was convicted in federal court Tuesday of conspiring to sell nearly 16 pounds of heroin seized at his home in March 2007 after an undercover drug investigation that netted the arrest of 34 southern Willamette Valley residents.
No witnesses were called, and the illegal Mexican immigrant did not plead guilty. Instead, Ramirez-Baldenebro was convicted in a brief stipulated facts trial in which he acknowledged that prosecutors had evidence for a jury to find him guilty of the two felony counts.
Papagni also described what detectives found after getting a warrant to search Ramirez-Baldenebro’s east Springfield home. On a bedside table was a statue of “San Malverde” an early 20th century Mexican bandit regarded by some there as a Robin Hood figure and patron saint of drug smugglers. On a shelf below the statue were bags containing more than 16 pounds of heroin, the prosecutor said.
This is outrageous! Has anyone considered that this man has now been "ripped from his family" just because he broke a few laws? These kinds of raids harm the "dignity" of this man and do not show him "humane justice" at all.
Our laws are a mere nuisance and his arrest just proves that their enforcement is inhumane.

This is taxpayer funded housing that is essentially based on race. I was going to put up all the links to the endless amount of "programs" that this involves but all you need to know is this:
Our government funds groups whose only goal is to help illegal aliens and race-based constituencies have every aspect of their lives taken care of for them. They are slaves to the state.
They will file your taxes for you because they think you are too stupid. (they will probably show you how to sign up for the ITIN as well)
As part of an EITC (Earned Income Tax Credit) Campaign, it is the goal of Bienestar and its partners United Way, CASH Oregon, and TaxAide to help more latino families access tax credit refunds available through the Earned Income, Child Care and other tax credits. These credits often go unused by people who don’t know about them or who don’t know how to file for them.
They will put your kids in in government program you can find, they will knock on your door to get you signed up and they will get you your GED... complete with Mexican flag in the background:

When seconds count the police are just minutes away
I've said it before and I'll say it again...
Upstate New York gunman kills 13, commits suicide
A gunman barricaded the back door of a community center with his car and then opened fire on a room full of immigrants taking a citizenship class Friday, killing 13 people before apparently committing suicide, officials said.
One receptionist was killed, while the other, who was shot in the abdomen, pretended to be dead, then crawled under a desk and called 911, he said. Police said they arrived within two minutes. The rest of those killed were shot in the classroom. Four people were critically wounded.
Police heard no gunfire after they arrived but waited for about an hour before entering the building to make sure it was safe for officers. They then spent two hours searching the building.
The timeline always seems to be the same when the victims can't fire back:
gunman arrives > kills everyone > kills himself > police arrive > police stand outside pointing weapons and the building for hours
The timeline when a potential victim can shoot back like in the recent church shooting incident:
gunman arrives > gunman shoots > gunman gets shot > everyone else lives

The late night folks who have other people write their jokes for them have been making "Rush Limbaugh used drugs" jokes a lot lately.

In fact, I'm guessing that a random survey would show that more people know about Limbaugh abusing Oxycotin than they do about Obama's coke.
It's a real testament to the media that they can work tirelessly to destroy a private citizen while covering for the President of the United States and be successful.

ICE releases immigrants after raid
Many of the workers arrested by immigration agents last month in a Bellingham work site raid have been released and given permission to work.
Immigrants were released with documents advising them "that per the assistant United States attorney assigned to this case, all persons involved with the Yamato Engine Specialists ... should be afforded the benefit of deferred action and an employment authorization document, valid for the duration of this case."
We are rapidly approaching a point when average citizens are going to have no respect for our laws or our government. Even the ones whom "experience hath shown that mankind are more disposed to suffer, while evils are sufferable than to right themselves by abolishing the forms to which they are accustomed."
We abolished the political ties to our government in 1776 in part because:

He has erected a multitude of new offices, and sent hither swarms of officers to harass our people and eat out their substance.

"Basic Needs" must now include: food, water, shelter and a government worker to empower you regarding your health care. Someone tell Maslow.
We also model what it means to address the social determinants of health by actively promoting health in specific communities, including (but not limited to) the disability community, the Latino immigrant community, and the Maple-Mallory neighborhood in NE Portland. Save the planet by giving up your freedom
The "green" nonsense has gotten out of control. I'm sure it's just a coincidence that the secrets to saving the planet just happen to be the same thing that liberal facists have always wanted: higher taxes and absolute government control of our lives.
When Oregon's Global Warming Commision has an action plan called "Land-use planning to reduce VMT" that can be translated into "government telling you where to live."
Higher-density, mixed-use developments are much easier to serve with transit and reduce the distances between residences and destinations, making bicycle and pedestrian trips much more feasible.
Government will save the planet by making sure you can't have a backyard and you can bike to work.
But if cramming the population into sardine cans isn't enough they establish "Pricing policies to reduce VMT" which means that the government will make it too expensive for you to drive.
These liberal facists want "modified rate designs to reflect others to install advanced two-way daily and seasonal peak demand" electric rates to force you to sit in the dark. The two-way system allows the government to have control of your electric box.
I spent a few minutes reading the A Framework for Addressing Rapid Climate Change and I'm convinced that unless we push back hard our God-given liberty will be lost.

This month’s accuracy tips have to do with how the application should be filled out by an applicant. The application (DHS 415F) was designed to capture the information of clients who apply for benefits and those who live in the same household but do not seek benefits for themselves. Civil Rights regulations prohibit us from requiring clients to disclose their SSN or citizenship when they are not applying for benefits for themselves. Therefore, in filling out the application, clients who are not applying for themselves should list their names under thesecond section of #3 on page 2 of the DHS 415F, where it says “List all other people living in your home.”
Example: Mom comes in to apply for food stamps for self and her three children. Mom lists the three children on the application as the people she is applying to receive benefits for. She lists herself as another person in the HH, and does not want benefits for herself. There are a few reasons Mom might not want benefits for herself; one might be that she is an ineligible non-citizen, and does not want to disclose her status, and does not have a valid SSN.
In the FS Chapter, Section D.6, it states that only those persons who want benefits are required to provide their SSN. Other persons living in the household are not required to provide their SSN. Who here thinks that Adderall would be used illegaly in these numbers if it had the stigma of meth? Students who see their classmates using drugs as a crutch ask "why not me" and simply get the pills from their dormmate.

At a town hall meeting held in Salem on Saturday, February 21, 2009 Senator Ron Wyden stated that he supported the E-Verify program.
On Tuesday, March 10, in the U.S. Senate, Wyden voted to table Senator Jeff Session’s amendment 604 that would have extended E-Verify for five years. Maybe in Washington DC that is not considered lying, but to regular folks there is no better term to describe what Wyden did.

President Barack Obama will present plans for immigration reform this year, Hispanic lawmakers said Wednesday after strategic talks at the White House.
Obama "was clear and eloquent and determinate to let us know that we are all together in the route of comprehensive immigration reform," Democratic lawmaker Luis Gutierrez told reporters after the discussion between the president and the Congressional Hispanic Caucus (CHC).
I think that taxing people to pay for needle exchange programs is un-American. I think that requiring a building permit to construct a new deck is un-American. Can I stop paying taxes and asking daddy gov's permission for everything?

University of Oregon: let Mexico annex it
How did Oregon get so lucky? Our very own Unviversity of Oregon is hosting this years National MEChA conference this weekend. What is MEChA you ask? According to the U of O page:
Chicano is our identity; it defines who we are as people. It rejects the notion that we are an insignificant minority group that should assimilate into the Anglo-American melting pot of materialism, greed, and intolerance upon us. It is a symbol of Resistance as well as a symbol of Unity amongst Mexicanos, Salvadorenos, Chilenos, Puerto Ricennos, Cubanos, and all other Raza.
It became synonymous with the vast territories of the Southwest, brutally stolen from a Mexican people marginalized and betrayed by the hostile custodians of the Manifest Destiny.
But will the conference at our state University be all about racism and taking back the American southwest? Hardly. Imagine these exciting speakers:
Paulina Hernandez is a queer femme cha-cha girl, artist, political organizer & trouble-maker-at-large from Veracrúz, Mexico.
Anita Tijerina Revilla is an assistant professor in Women’s Studies at University of Nevada, Las Vegas.

But I'm sure that this conference will involve reputable people who are intent on following the law right? According to the official Principles of Unity for the conference:
We realize that the use of alcohol and drugs outside of conference activities is the responsibility of each individual and their pertaining chapter. However Aztlan del Noroeste asks that you maintain respect for our community and others.
So make sure that you are "respectful" if your particular chapter enjoys recreational narcotics.
I'm glad that everyone has the freedom to assemble in this country. I don't care if these people want to get together and hate American materialism. I just wish that there would be some public scorn directed towards this racist and revolutionary group.

Single parenting: like child abuse but with a government subsidy

While TANF is primarily a program for children in single-parent households, there is a small program for children in two-parent households (TANF-UN) where the parents are unemployed or seriously underemployed. In February 2009 there were 2,539 families with children being helped in the two-parent program, compared to 20,966 single-parent households in the regular TANF program.
I'm always dismayed that the stigma of single motherhood has gone by the wayside. Now it is something to be celebrated and considered "brave" or a badge of honor. There are 8 times as many single parents needing this welfare over the two parent households.
Men: if you get her pregnant you need to marry her. Take care of your obligations.
Women: stop having sex with men that you aren't married to or intend to marry.
Government: stop rewarding single parents.
Anything else and you are condemning kids to a rough childhood.

Hell freezes over
I actually agree with an Indymedia post. They have come out in opposition to HR 875 which I also think is a terrible freedom abridging idea. The federal government has no bussiness restricting "backyard farming."
Unless of course they enjoy us being completely reliant sheeple who need FEMA when something bad happens. Water and food are actual needs, for the government to say that you can't be self sufficient and provide for yourself is scary beyond all belief.

So I heard some people making fun of WES the other day and thought that I would do the "transit versus car" comparison.
Plugging in the exact same address to Tri-Met's tripcheck and Mapquest gives me this result: (I actually used WES transit stop addresses to give it a fair shot, obviously if you work/shop/live several miles from a station it gets to be less fun)

Travel time: 37 minutes (including 10 minutes walking)
Fares: Adult All Zone ($2.30)
Driving
Total Estimated Time: 21 minutes
Total Estimated Distance: 15.89 miles
$2.30 will buy you a tank of gas and most of us have a vehicle that gets at least 16/mpg. You can save time, save yourself the walk in the rain and still be able to pick up some groceries on your way home if you take your personal vehicle.

Special investigators pulled over two men in a Ford Taurus near Northeast 191st Avenue and Glisan Street. When the passenger, 37-year-old Javier Luciano-Ramirez, got out of the car and raised his hands, a half pound of cocaine with a street value of $100,000 tumbled out of his shirt, said sheriff's spokesman Deputy Paul H. McRedmond.
Luciano-Ramirez and the driver, 32-year-old Alfredo Lugo-Velez, were arrested on drug allegations and jailed in Multnomah County Detention Center. Both men are Mexican nationals and in the country illegally, McRedmond said. They have been place on immigration holds.
Now who amongst us doesn't occasionally have a half pound of cocaine tumble out of their clothing? Especially when we are illegaly present in a foreign country.
Actually, can you imagine what would happen to you in any other country if caught with distribution amounts of narcotics and were there illegaly. I'd hate to have that happen to you in Mexico.

While liberals love being praised for their looks, their style, their brilliance and their courage, the one quality they don't want talked about is their money. To the contrary, Democrats are constantly boasting about how poor they are -- as if that's a virtue in a capitalist society with no class barriers.
At the Democratic National Convention, for example, there were heartfelt tributes to the daunting self-sacrifice of both Barack and Michelle Obama for passing up lucrative jobs to work in "public service" -- which apparently is now defined, such as in Michelle Obama's case, as "working as a 'diversity coordinator' at a big city hospital for $300,000 a year."
It's impossible to argue with Ann Coulter because she's right. I mean, I suppose you could argue but you'd just look foolish.

Support legal workers

Numbers USA reports great news: Senator Jeff Sessions' amendment to extend E-Verify for another five years has made the cut of amendments that will be voted on before a final vote on the Omnibus Appropriations bill. Thursday, Senator Harry Reid blocked a vote on Sessions' amendment, but because the Senate was unable to get the 60 votes required to end the debate, he's been forced to open the bill back up. It is likely that Senator Session’s amendment 604 will be voted on Tuesday.
The E-Verify program is the most effective tool available for controlling illegal immigration. Along with building the border fence and stopping attempts to grant amnesty to illegal aliens, there is no other issue right now more critical to true immigration reform than extending the federal E-Verify program.
Call (202)224-3121 and ask for your Senator/Representatives office. E-Verify works, it simply allows employers to make sure that they are only hiring legal workers.
And please keep in mind that the comments about "it's not accurate" will be left by people who seem to think the government can't match a name and social security number but is perfectly capable of handing their retirement, health care and personal well-being.
Numbers USA reports great news: Senator Jeff Sessions' amendment to extend E-Verify for another five years has made the cut of amendments that will be voted on before a final vote on the Omnibus Appropriations bill. Thursday, Senator Harry Reid blocked a vote on Sessions' amendment, but because the Senate was unable to get the 60 votes required to end the debate, he's been forced to open the bill back up. It is likely that Senator Session’s amendment 604 will be voted on Tuesday.
The E-Verify program is the most effective tool available for controlling illegal immigration. Along with building the border fence and stopping attempts to grant amnesty to illegal aliens, there is no other issue right now more critical to true immigration reform than extending the federal E-Verify program.
Call (202)224-3121 and ask for your Senator/Representatives office. E-Verify works, it simply allows employers to make sure that they are only hiring legal workers.
And please keep in mind that the comments about "it's not accurate" will be left by people who seem to think the government can't match a name and social security number but is perfectly capable of handing their retirement, health care and personal well-being.

I've said this before Mr. Bruin...
It seems I will have to copy and paste this every legislative session.
No I would not trade a reduction in the state income tax for the addition of a sales tax. Here is why:
The money gets taxed when I earn it and then it gets taxed when I spend it. If only they could figure out how to tax it while it's in my checking account the circle would be complete.
There would have to be a brand new "State of Oregon building for the Implementation and Collection of the Sales Tax" created. It would be filled with PERS recipients with job titles like "Sales Tax Cultural Competency Coordinator" and "Sales Tax diversity Manager." This grows government. Now if the proposal is "revenue neutral" meaning that the state would collect the same that they do under the current plan we will simply get less service because they will be spending more on state payroll.
It would be like switching from one 40-hour a week job to two 20-hour a week jobs at the same salary. You are worse off because you now have increased commute time and generally made things more complicated.
Next I would like to point out that the proposal to lower the income tax but add a sales tax operates from a position of weakness. It says that government isn't too big. It pretends that the government has multiple revenue streams when there is really only one source of money: US!

To make sure that public art doesn't take a hit? To keep the needle exchange programs running on weekends? To make sure that we can hire more Art Therapists?

Drug user? Get out of jail free!
We should all be nervous at the cavalier way that our government puts our safety at risk with their social experiments. Take the Josephine County drug court for example: (page 4 & 5)
"In contrast to the practice in Marion County, the Josephine County program targets relatively high level offenses and the defense is continually pushing to broaden the list of eligible offenses."
"The most common reason for termination from drug court is a new person or property offense in which there is a victim."
"Participants who have dropped out and resumed drug use are not necessarily terminated."
"Some clients drop out more than once."
So let's make sure we are clear. Instead of convicting and sendign criminals to jail Josephine County tries to get as many people into their alternative "drug court" as possible. Once in this program the criminals frequently commit a new person or property crime or drop out and if you resume drug use it's ok.
And here is the kicker:
"With respect to participants who are not U.S. citizens, the current drug court attorney, Joe Maier, tries to work with the district attorney’s office to modify the charges so that the defendant’s immigration status is not negatively affected."

Wanting to send a message to the Obama administration and Congress about the need for comprehensive changes to the nation's immigration system, more than 400 people showed up Saturday to Immigrant Action Day at Chemeketa Community College in Salem.
Protesting the event were about 25 to 30 members of the Oregon Chapter of the Minutemen and Oregonians for Immigration Reform. An e-mail written to those members and forwarded to the Statesman Journal by OFIR vice president Rick Hickey about the groups' plans to protest the event read in part: "This is all about helping illegal aliens. Your college and your legislators are harboring, assisting and using your tax dollars to enable Illegal aliens. This is wrong, and you should let them know that."
The criminal aliens are tireless in their demand for amnesty. You don't need amnesty if you haven't broken the law. CAUSA can keep holding their little rallies but we all know that the general public is not on their side.

Oregon Supreme Court allows trial of accused hit men
Two men accused of hiring on as hit men for a jealous husband and drug dealer will have to stand trial after the Oregon Supreme Court overturned a lower court ruling.
The Supreme Court ruled unanimously Thursday that police were justified in making the arrests based partly on a vague description of the suspects.
The man accused of hiring them, Joel Sanchez-Jacobo, was convicted last year of aggravated murder for soliciting the killing of Rodolfo Romero-Lopez and of murder in the slaying of Alejandro Sanchez-Hernandez.
Prosecutors said Sanchez-Jacobo, 31, a Mexican citizen, considered the slain men rival drug dealers who were interested in his wife.
Nothing to see here folks. Pay no attention to the horrible violence in Mexico that seems to be spreading north. Please go back to watching American Idol and ignoring the looming danger.

Federal immigration agents raid Bellingham business
After federal agents raided Yamato Engine Specialists Ltd. and detained 28 employees Tuesday, Feb. 24, company officials expressed dismay about how U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement officers handled the matter.
Most of the workers detained were taken off in handcuffs, Dhanani said, except for three women who apparently were processed and released because they had children in local schools or daycare centers.
Makalai said the range of wages for Yamato's production workers begins at $9 and can be as high as $25 to $30 for the most skilled.
"Because these are skilled jobs, there are only limited people that can do some of these jobs," Dhanani said.
As with all the illegal aliens stories there are so many angles here. The ICE spokeswoman talked about how the criminal aliens had fake social security cards, maybe they are using your number?
The employer cried that they do their best to hire legal workers... but they don't use E-Verify. (the program that will not be reauthorized under this congress unless you call call call)
And of course the boys at CAUSA cried that these raids "victimize the very people that helped to bring change to the White House and elect President Obama."
But the angle to focus on this time is not the identity theft, the employer who does the wink and nod or the illegal alien support group that thinks ineligible voters should bring change to our country. I get so tired of trying to convince people that it is possible to have a negative tax liability, that some people not only don't pay any taxes but instead get money sent to them when they file their taxes.
However you don't get money "back" because you didn't pay it in the first place and you don't get it "from the state" you get it from your neighbors.

The state Senate on Monday passed House Bill 2365, banning the manufacture, sale and distribution of toylike or “novelty” lighters in Oregon.
The Senate vote came just 19 days after the unanimous vote from the House of Representatives. Gov. Ted Kulongoski is expected to sign the bill soon.
Frankly I question whether Oregonians should be able to have lighters or even access to fire at all. Maybe a government employee could come to my house and say "stove... HOT" over and over to me.
The innovative idea that people could govern themselves through a constitutional republic has turned into the reality of our "representatives" passing an endless amount of laws that are akin to parents dressing their kids with bubble wrap.

Amnesty Alley
I understand that being a repulican candidate in blue Oregon means that you have to be pragmatic on some of the issues. It doesn't mean you have to support amnesty or taxpayer funded goodies for illegal aliens.
Listening to Allen Alley on the Lars Larson show today brought back horrifying memories of Jason Atkinson four years ago. (Alley must not have heard it, maybe he's like Mannix: "not a regular listener")
A majority of Oregonians are dumb enough to think that if only we can surrender enough of our freedom and money to goverment we can save the planet from global warming. I get that. A serious candidate can't say "it's mother nature stupid" and get elected here.
But I can't vote for a primary candidate who also wants to help illegal aliens "earn" citizenship because certain industries enjoy the cheap criminal labor.
Oregonians do not support giving welfare, housing and non-emergency medical care to criminals aliens who shouldn't even be here. Oregonians are tired of having to compete with an underground labor force. Oregonians are tired of pressing 1 for English and paying state employees to coddle criminals.
And Daniel is tired of Republican candidates who don't get that.

Marching: the new way to get respect
Columbia County Latinos Lead Procession for Respect and Dignity
On Wednesday, February 18th, members of the Columbia County Latino community and their allies will join together for a community walk, entitled Procession for Respect and Dignity.
The walk is organized by the new group Latinos Unidos para un Futuro Mejor (LUFM, or Latinos United for a Better Future), and is a public demonstration of the faces of Columbia County's Latino Community that has been under attack for the last eighteen months by ballot measures 5-190 and 5-191. The Procession for Respect and Dignity will bring our neighbors and ourselves out of the shadows and show honest, responsible community members that work hard to support families and contribute to the local economy.
A racial group is going to march around and demand that illegal aliens be treated with respect. And it's insulting that "Latino groups" keep insinuating that illegal aliens and Hispanics are one and the same.
Racial groups don't need to unite, Hispanics don't need to come out of the shadows and illegal aliens don't deserve respect. There is no dignity in illegal work.

With cuts looming in social services and not enough money for health care, lawmakers in Salem are eyeing the frosty winter ale in Keith McCowan's pint as a possible revenue godsend.
Never before, it seems, has the climate been so ripe to raise taxes on sin. Democrats command supermajorities in both chambers, which means they can increase taxes without Republican votes.
I've said it before and I'll say it again: government has one source of revenue and that is us. They can "look" for another "leg on the stool" but it's just coming out of a different pocket in your pants.
But the Oregonian makes it sound like this is our benevolent legislators who are just trying to provide health care for the needy going up against evil lobbyists for the beer industry. At least we get a wonderful preview of things to come by looking at the Oregon Health Plan. The money pit that can never be filled.

OLYMPIA, Wash. — Illegal immigrant students could get state financial aid for college under a bill being considered by Washington state lawmakers.
The measure would expand current law to allow illegal immigrant students to be eligible for a state need grant program, which provided around $182 million in financial aid for 72,000 students in 2008.
As the circular argument goes: illegal aliens only do the jobs that Americans won't do. It seems that some of those jobs require a college education.
But the real problem is this: illegal aliens and their supporters in the Washington legislature want the taxpayers to fund job training for people WHO ARE NOT ALLOWED TO HAVE A JOB!
All of this is done to normalize illegal behavior and in anticipation of amnesty, that is the one we must stop. We did it before and we will do it again.

There is dignity in all work. There is nothing shameful about working at McDonald's. However it is shameful to think that the President of the United States should force your employer to give you something extra without you doing anything for it.

Fix the budget, use rapid REPAT
Closing prisons and releasing the criminals into our communties has been proposed as a solution to Oregon's spending problem. We could instead release them using rapid REPAT.
Rapid REPAT is a program that deports illegal aliens serving time in prison. The criminal alien who is convicted of a non-violent offense may have his sentence reduced for the purposes of deportation on the condition that if they come back to the United States they will serve a much much much longer sentence.
Let's stop giving three hots and a cot to these people, send them back where they came from.

Votes are again told to jump in a lake
Oregon judge blocks measure restricting immigrant hiring
A Columbia County judge blocked a voter-backed ballot measure that would fine employers for hiring illegal immigrants from taking effect as scheduled Monday.
The measure was challenged by a coalition of Columbia County business owners and voters represented by the American Civil Liberties Union and the Northwest Workers' Justice Project.
You can see the actual lawsuit here. The plaintiffs who need to be boycotted include:
Plaintiff Daniel R. Garrison is the proprietor of Daniel R. Garrison, CPA, PC, a business in Columbia County.
Plaintiff Gary Liao is the proprietor of whereexactly.com, a business in St. Helens.
Plaintiff Tony Mandella is a construction contractor and a voter within Columbia County, Oregon.
And most interesting to me is:
Plaintiff Jesus Ochoa-Madrueno is a resident of Columbia County and is ordinarily employed in construction work in the County. He is of Mexican national origin.

It stands to reason that this measure, which simply requires the government to enforce their own laws, caused the above plaintiff to become unemployed since he was working illegaly, identifying himself illegaly, commiting perjury and probably ID theft by using your SSN or mine when he filled out his employment paperwork.
The media won't look into this because they are not reporters of the news, they are lapdogs for liberablism. The outrage that would occur if the public new that an illegal alien could sue to overturn the will of the voters would be tremedous.
A Columbia County judge blocked a voter-backed ballot measure that would fine employers for hiring illegal immigrants from taking effect as scheduled Monday.
The measure was challenged by a coalition of Columbia County business owners and voters represented by the American Civil Liberties Union and the Northwest Workers' Justice Project.

Plaintiff Daniel R. Garrison is the proprietor of Daniel R. Garrison, CPA, PC, a business in Columbia County.
Plaintiff Gary Liao is the proprietor of whereexactly.com, a business in St. Helens.
Plaintiff Tony Mandella is a construction contractor and a voter within Columbia County, Oregon.
And most interesting to me is:
Plaintiff Jesus Ochoa-Madrueno is a resident of Columbia County and is ordinarily employed in construction work in the County. He is of Mexican national origin.

Registering to vote in Oregon could soon be as easy as a few clicks of the mouse. State lawmakers are considering a bill that would make Oregon one of a handful of states to allow online voter registration.
You could soon be able to sign up to vote in your PJ’s in Oregon. Actually, you can do that already. But you have to print out the form, find a stamp and put it in the mail.
Rep. Ben Cannon: “What we’re envisioning here is a one-click process for voter registration, so, lowering that barrier to participation.”
Gross apathy is what lowers participation. If you can't take the time to put a stamp on an evelope then maybe you shouldn't be able to raise my property taxes to say nothing of affecting the peaceful transfer of power in the greatest country on earth.

For now, most Gazans seem to rally behind Hamas, united in their anger at Israel, though there are some murmurs of discontent.
"Hamas fought the Israelis. No one else did," said Samir Summad, 66, whose four-story house was damaged during an air strike last week that killed Said Siam, a top Hamas leader.
Summad would not say whether he resented Siam for putting the neighborhood at risk. Siam was visiting a brother at the time of the strike. "If I had known he was there, I would have run away," said Summad, adding that five of his family members were wounded in the attack.

We have been hearing from many of you since the news broke that Portland Mayor Sam Adams lied about his relationship with a young man he claimed to have mentored. It is clear that emotions are running very high and here at BRO, we feel the need to take a deep breath and step back from the fray.
The question now is whether Sam can rebuild trust with Portland voters. That will determine his path forward. He’s going to have to work hard at it, and only time will tell.
Blah blah blah, responsibility, equality, blah blah BUT SHOULD HE RESIGN? Roey Thorpe's group is simply a cesspool of left-wing blather that will not hold "their" candidate accountable.
It is telling that they no longer operate under the guise of defending people who choose homosexual behavior, but instead they openly fight for abortion, unions, amnesty for illegal aliens and racial policies.
They have "coalition partners—in the choice, labor, LGBT and immigrant rights movements alike."

Obama and Biden will ensure that middle-class Americans get the financial assistance they need to purchase or keep their own home by creating a 10 percent universal mortgage credit that gives tax relief to 10 million Americans who have a home mortgage.
Why do middle class Americans not itemize their taxes? BECAUSE THEIR STANDARD DEDUCTIONS ARE SUFFICIENT! Standard deductions, like your children, can be enough to completely erase your federal tax burden so there is no need to go looking for that donation receipt to Goodwill.
A mortgage credit is just another way to "spread the wealth" to people who don't pay federal income tax. A credit is different than a deduction.
A deduction is liking a 5% off coupon you use at Wal-Mart. A credit is like Wal-Mart sending you money even though you don't shop there.

Shooting erupts at 'Notorious' movie
A 32-year-old man was shot twice in the abdomen during an argument and an estimated 700 people were evacuated when gunfire broke out at a Greensboro movie theater Friday night.
Up to 2,000 teens involved in disturbance at Lancaster movie theater
Five people were arrested for disorderly conduct and possession of marijuana at the Cinemark Movies 14 theater at 3250 W. Pleasant Run Road.
Many of the teens were there to try and see one of two R-rated films: Notorious and My Bloody Valentine.
4 Knifed at “Notorious” After-Party
One man is in critical condition after he and three others were stabbed at a party for the release of the Biggie Smalls biopic “Notorious” over the weekend.
The list goes on and on (and this is just opening weekend) but the real kicker for me is this one:
Notorious Movie Premiere in New York Brings B.I.G. Celebrities
...celebrities, entertainers, friends and family all came together at the ‘Notorious’ Movie Premiere.
They actually have red carpet style photos of these degenerates going to this movie. (probably a private screening where the actual thugs can shoot, stab and riot on them) Diddy is the guy who got a tour of the White House from Bush, the guy who endorsed Obama and put out this YouTube video:

Parents of the lowest order
I'm taking a break from watching videos of terrorist's children crying in Palestine and have run across this video of an illegal alien's children crying.
Now the folks who posted the video, the blog where I found the video and the commenters on YouTube all seem to place the blame for the crying children on law enforcement. Why doesn't anyone blame the mom for commiting the crimes?
Hamas loves to hide behind children and so do the illegal aliens. It scumbaggery at it's worst. You are simply putting your selfish wants in front of doing what's best for the kids.
You really are a bad parent to come here illegaly and have children. You could be arrested at any moment and be deported. YOU will be responsible for uprooting your family. It is YOUR CHOICE to put yourself in a position where your kids could be left crying while you are handcuffed.
I feel bad for the kids, I am disgusted with the parents.

Bend holdup victims pull real gun on fake gun
Three Bend men used a realistic but fake handgun to rob a southeast Bend duplex late Sunday night, police said - but a victim confronted them with a real shotgun, holding one suspect at gunpoint until officers arrived.
Mack said the robbers - Little, Lawrence and Lagutaris - planned to rob the victims, a man 19-year-old man and 20-year-old woman, of money, but one of the intended victims confronted them with a shotgun. Two fled and one was held at gunpoint until police arrived.
I get so sick of the "the robber got the money but no one was hurt" robbery stories on the local tv news. In this case the good guys refused to be victims.
Now that a citizen has rightfully defended himself we can hope that the government does it's job and locks these scumbags up for a good long time.

Legislature as a second language
For those of you who are LSL let me do a couple helpful translations that will arrise in this legislative session:
Help verb: Make you do something that you don't want to.
"We'll help you to live more green."
Invest verb: Tax and spend.
"The state of Oregon will invest in needle exchange programs."
Children noun: Union.
"It's for the children."
Revenue noun: Tax you.
"We'll have to look for another source of revenue."
Create jobs verb: Grow government.
"To get out of the recession we must creat jobs."
Cut noun: An increase.
"We'll have to cut the budget."
I hope that these translations help. Now go bury your wallet in the backyard.

DHS postpones E-Verify requirement
The federal government has postponed until Feb. 20 a requirement for government contractors to use the E-Verify system to check the eligibility of their employees to work in the U.S.
The Department of Homeland Security announced Friday it would push back the date because of a federal lawsuit filed Dec. 23 by the U.S. Chamber of Commerce and other business groups. The suit contends the government doesn’t have the authority to make E-Verify mandatory for contractors.
The Chamber of Commerce is saying that the government doesn't have the authority to enforce it's own laws. They are also saying that they don't care about American workers.

The IP (intellectual property) of innovative industries is increasingly under assault around the globe as governments and NGOs aggressively seek to erode patent, trademark, and copyright protections; undermine international trade rules; and destroy innovation and research-based industries. Anti-IP forces are pressing their attacks in the U.S. Congress, in a growing number of key nations, and in multilateral forums like the World Trade Organization, the World Health Organization...
How come they don't call for amnesty for those who commit copyright infringment? Where is the lawsuit that says the federal government can't verify that someone has violated at patent Criminal companies who produce knockoff products unite!
We don't get to pick and choose which laws we follow. Once you enter the realm of picking and choosing it becomes anarchy.
It is good for business when we follow ALL the laws. Immigration, labor and copyright.

Support American workers
100,000 Employers Use E-Verify Program
U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) announced today that more than 100,000 employers have signed up to participate in E-Verify, a free, easy to use online system that equips participating employers with the tools to quickly and effectively verify the employment eligibility of newly-hired employees.
While participation in E-Verify is voluntary, 15 states now require certain employers to participate and comply in some manner with a federal work authorization verification program.
That's 100,000 employers who demonstrate that they want to follow the law and hire only legal workers. With a difficult job market this news should be heralded as a great victory for those who are seeking work.
When you apply for a job with an employer who uses E-Verify that means you are not competing with an illegal workforce.
Let's make sure that we patronize any business that uses E-Verify and keep our dollars away from those who don't.
