Most of the CAUSAnuts can't speak a lick of English which just makes it that much funnier when they write letters to the editor trying to use big words to justify lawbreaking.
“Unfortunately, extremists are less about enacting true, meaningful immigration reform and more about confusing an already complicated issue in order to push their own agenda and ideals."
Speaking as an "extremist" I am not only "less" about enacting "meaningful" immigration reform and more about enforcing the law. I know that is complicated.
Let me explain it: In America we have laws, you break them or you don't. If you break them you get punished.
I realize that this might be very different than in Mexico. There you break a law and you have the "complicated issue" of how much to bribe the law enforcement officer (there probably should be air quotes around that one) or how to breathe while lying in a puddle of your own blood.
My "agenda" and "ideals" involve DON'T BREAK OUR LAWS.

I guess I'm an extremist too, I am more about enforcing the law and protecting my family. I guess I'm so extreme I don't want my family members killed by a drunk driver, raped, or murdered. I don't want my money stolen and given to a bunch of thieves and leeches. I want the money used to educate, medicate and incarcerate Americans.
Miglavs - you are and always have been such a simpleton on this issue. This statement obviously sums up the limited extent to which you are able to seriously confront the problem of illegal immigration:
"Let me explain it: In America we have laws, you break them or you don't. If you break them you get punished."
You act as if existing immigration laws were handed down by God, to the founding fathers. Let me clarify a few things for you.
The United States did not have any immigration quotas until the late 1800s when it officially excluded immigration from China and then Japan in 1907. Pretty much all immigration was halted after WWI and remained that way until 1965 (except for the Bracero Accord with Mexico which was a program to bring temporary farm workers from Mexico to the U.S. between 1942 and 1964).
In 1965 we passed the first legislation in the history of the country setting country-specific immigration quotas, and in the interest of fairness, each country received the same number of visas.
The probelm with this is that the quotas have always been out of step with the global reality. People in certain countries are more likely to migrate to the U.S. than others. This is why a country like Mexico meets its qouta every year, while a country like Sweden never even gets close to using up all of its annual Visas. This is also the reason that there is a 15-year wait for a green card in Mexico.
There is good reason to believe that a large number of illegal Mexican workers in this country have already applied for their green card, and are working here illegally while they endure the insanely long wait-time. Also, it's probably the case that a good share of the visas go to people living and working here illegally rather than to people living in Mexico.
To say that illegal Mexican immigrants have "cut in line" in front of legal immigrants is utterly false. Each country has a different line, and the line for Mexicans is incredibly long.
One practical solution would be to adjust the nation-specific quotas so that they are more in line with reality and with the nation's labor needs. If we were to reduce the quota for countries that never fulfill them anyway and add those slots to the Mexican quota, that would immediately reduce the size of the Mexican illegal immgigrant population substantially.
Why is that not a viable solution for you? Do you just prefer to maintain this simpleton's view of how the immigration system works, and, like a child, say, "we have laws, and if you break them, there are consequences."
You act as if immigration law isn't malleable, when, our nation's history shows that it very much is.
In fact, your positioin is really a non-starter, which leads to the question:
If you are not in favor of adjusting the quotas as I've suggested in order to give more visa slots to Mexico, and thereby immediately reducing the size of our illegal immigrant population, why?
Do you have something against Mexicans?
I won't hold my breath for a response, simpleton.
You seem to delight in mockery. It makes you look small, Daniel.
I'm just sayin'...
SO LETS JUST INFORCE THE LAWS THAT ARE ON THE BOOKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Anon 11:52 AM, nice logic but is does not fly.
How have you documented a good reason large number of illegal Mexican workers in this country have already applied for their green card, and are working here illegally while they endure the insanely long wait-time. ( I would say that which is worth waiting for is very valuable).
It would make sense to make quotas based upon the makeup of our national identity, not so we can become the social economic dumping ground for every third world hellhole.
You state: To say that illegal Mexican immigrants have "cut in line" in front of legal immigrants is utterly false. Each country has a different line, and the line for Mexicans is incredibly long.
I'm sure the tens of millions of Africans, Asian and Europeans can also come in work illegally to wait for their green card. I call bullshit. We currently have a racist policy of immigration. Look at the huge numbers of hispanics that have come here in the last 20 years. They can simply walk over the border, anyone else must take a boat or plane. There is no consideration for anyone but hispanics. We do not need to adjust any quotas. We do not need 2 million a year coming in legally. Don't forget the 33 million visitors. How many visitors do not leave? Probably millions. A nation cannot stand such immigration. Ask the Romans. Fuck, the barbarians are past the gate. Ask Dani Countryman on that one. You cannot just legalize crimes by letting the mexicans have everyone else's quota. We do not need any more lettuce pickers, we have tens of millions of our own. How about the millions of unemployed Americans, where is your consideration for them? You don't give a shit, you just want cheap lettuce. Cheap lettuce is not cheap to everyone, somebody has to pay to educate, medicate and incarcerate them. Mexicans are stealing this country blind. If you are so fond of criminal aliens, why don't you donate ALL YOUR MONEY TO THEM. Stop stealing mine. Let them rape and murder your family, not mine or my friends.
Ask California how those illegal aliens are doing for them? California used to have some of the best schools in the country, they are dumps now. The illegals are sucking that state dry. Communities or states that have booted the illegals have noticed a drop in crime, better education for their children and their taxes going down. Wake up and quit smoking dope.
Tens of millions of Americans ready to pick lettuce? Really? Wow, I wish they'd show up at my uncles pear farm. He pays nearly $14 hr, more than any other orchard in the area that I know of, and not a single "American" shows up. Not a damn one.
You can talk out your ass all you want Dave, but you don't know shit about who will work in agriculture and who won't. Just because you say something doesn't make it true.
You find me bus load of those "10s of millions" of American workers willing to bust their ass to get the fruit picked on time.
Make sure they actually bother to show up every day (good luck with that) until they fulfill their obligation. You do that, and my uncle will make it well worth your while.
I'll give you directions to my uncles pear orcchard. I'll check back in a while. With "10s of millions" of Americans to easily recruit from, it shouldn't take you too long, right?
Congratulations Dave01 - you're a true conservative. Unwilling to compromise one iota in order to change the status quo, all the while, bitching incessantly about the status quo.
It's really like a childish little game, isn't it?
Dave! How's it comin' with that bus load of some of those "10s of millions" of Americans willing to show up for farm work?
My uncle is really hurting. Those pears need to be picked before the window closes! We're scrambling over here! Last year he had to leave 30% to rot because he couldn't find enough help. He wasn't alone. A lot of growers were short handed. No one showed up to pick. Not a one of those "10s of millions" of American workers, despite heavy advertising on local TV, radio, newspaper, church bulletins, and employment offices.
Looks like this year is going to be the same. Where are those "10s of millions" of American workers willing to do the job? $14 hr isn't bad when you're out of work!
Come on Dave! We don't want to have a repeat of last year!
My uncle said he'd pay you $2,000 bucks cash for 2 weeks work if you can recruit 24 American workers to show up, (every day, mind you) until the job is done. Only about 2weeks left, probably less! Surely, you can recruit 24 workers out of "10s of millions!"
It's "bust your ass" labor but $14 hr (avg) plus free lunch. Oh! And cold beer for your crew after day is done, transportation to and from included. We have a guest home just for you Dave! You can stay there until the orchard is clean.
Still waiting...limited time opportunity.
Anyone?
THAT'S WHAT I THOUGHT....
