Oregon Dept Of Transportion Kicks Off Workforce Development Initiative
PORTLAND, Oregon - A statewide workforce development initiative designed to boost diversity in employment, increase apprenticeship participation, and increase training resources and opportunities for highway construction jobs debuts in Portland next week.
Representatives from these groups will attend Tuesday's meeting. Speakers include Warner, Labor Commissioner Dan Gardner, ODOT Highway Division Executive Officer John Jackley, ODOT Diversity Manager Michael Cobb, and ODOT Region 1 Manager Matthew Garrett.
The Workforce Development Plan has three critical elements: (my emphasis)
* Increasing apprenticeship targets from the current 5 percent to 20 percent during the next 18 months.
* Boosting participation in transportation construction projects in the Portland tri-county area to 14 percent employment for women and 20 percent for minority workers.
* Taking steps to ensure that a qualified and diverse labor pool is ready to meet contractor needs for federally and state-funded transportation projects.
Apparently fixing cracked bridges is not as critical as increasing employment based on skin color.
So we have various ODOT managers meeting at the Oregon Association of Minority Entrepeneurs to discuss the racist plan. No word on whether Dr. King will be hired by ODOT based on his skin color rather than the content of his character.
And for those of you who are wondering why Michael Cobb has a job it's very simple, without a Diversity Manager who would supervise the "Civil Rights Liason"? I know, I know, the HR person handles all that nonsense at my work too.
But a look at the tapestry that is ODOT's management flow chart reveals all... LINK
Various jobs such as "Proccess Improvement Manager" and Bussiness Performance Analyst" could probably be eliminated since, based on roads not built and bridges not fixed, the proccess is not "improving" and neither is "performance."

"Worries"? It "worries" us? How about outraged, furious, and feeling abused!
Immigration worries Republicans
Republican congressional members' constituents care more about immigration and border security than any other issue, according to a new congressional insiders poll.
You're damn straight we do, unfortunately our elected "leaders" are dumber than rocks, rocks that are high on crack, and will continue to ignore us or insist on "dialogue" rather than fix the problem.
Seventeen of the 37 Republican House and Senate members who responded to the National Journal's survey identified immigration as the issue "most on the minds of your constituents these days." That easily topped the next closest issue, the economy, which gained 10 votes, followed by gasoline prices with four votes and terrorism with three votes.
Come time for the primaries, for any office, I intend to vote for whichever candidate takes the strongest stance against illegal immigration. Of course, knowing our politicians the "strongest" stance will probably be ecouraging "dialogue" on the issue.
Read this whole article. Then take a look at some other blogs. A few good local bloggers Gullyborg, Robin, Coyote, Sailor, and Don Diesel all do regular posts on this problem. And you certainly won't have a First Amendment Friday on Lars Larson's show without a good portion of the callers talking about this issue.
Ordinary citizens at town hall meetings talk about their outrage at illegal aliens being able to access social services, drivers licenses, and get registered to vote.
I write my elected officials all the time on this issue and generally get back the form letter about how "immigrants have a rich history of contributing to our society" which has nothing to do with people breaking our laws.
And Bush, the big cheese himself, doesn't just abdicate his responsibility to protect our country from these people, he wants to reward them for breaking the law. Unbelievable.

Another one?!?!?!?!
A couple weeks ago I got a letter in the mail from an optomotrist I see. The letter explained that their office had a break in and computers were stolen. This created the possibility of identity theft and they recommended I put out a fraud alert on my credit report. This was an easy step, you can also get an additional free copy of your credit report this way in addition the the one free report you can get a year.
Today I get another letter, this time from my tax preparer, saying that they had a break-in and identity theft was a possibility and that I should put a fraud alert on my credit report.
Ahhhhh. Is there anywhere that we can be safe? Was this burglary committed by a guy that Multnomah County just released from jail because they would rather fund public art, needle exchange programs, and pay a library director $130,000 a year?
I choose not to live in Portland. I don't even go there if I can help it. I go to the Sherwood branch of this particular tax preparer but it was a Portland office that had the burglary. What I'm saying is, we are all affected by that communist cesspool that we call Portland. I want to have a say in there elections. The electorate that is there is obviously getting nuttier as the normal people wisely move to the "evil suburbs" to get away from that mess.
Many of you have probably heard the saying: A Republican is just a Democrat who's been mugged.
Maybe when Dianne Linn has her identity stolen and has to spend 3 hours a day on the phone with financial institutions, credit bureaus, and government agencies, and then still does not have the issue resolved a year later but the guy who did it is walking the street, maybe, just maybe, we will get a change.

BussinessWeek gives a hug to lawbreakers
Embracing Illegals
Inez and Antonio Valenzuela are a marketer's dream. Young, upwardly mobile, and ready to spend on their growing family, the Los Angeles couple in many ways reflects the 42 million Hispanics in the U.S. Age 30 and 29, respectively, with two daughters, Esmeralda, 8, and Maria Luisa, 2 months, the duo puts in long hours, working 4 p.m. to 2 a.m., six days a week, at their bustling streetside taco trailer.
But Inez and Antonio aren't your typical American consumers. They're undocumented immigrants who live and work in the U.S. illegally. When the couple, along with Esmeralda, crossed the Mexican border five years ago, they had little money, no jobs, and lacked basic documents such as Social Security numbers. Guided by friends and family, the couple soon discovered how to navigate the increasingly above-ground world of illegal residency.
This is the cover story on the current issue of BussinessWeek. They point to the illegal alien "community" as a huge marketing demographic for banks and cell phone companies. To me, this is like marketing condoms to rapists.
The wishy-washy stance on enforcement of the law by BussinessWeek is almost comical. When they say "millions of people who technically have no right to be in the U.S." I wonder if they would apply the same status to bank robbers who "technically have no right to make that withdrawal."
The best part though is where they say that with an increase in the number of people breaking the law "crime could decline, too."
More undocumented immigrants paying income and property taxes would help ease the taxpayer strain for the schools, health care, roads, and other services illegals use. Crime could decline, too.
Perhaps this rag of a magazine is unfamiliar with our immigration LAWS which are being broken. And I've gone over the whole illegal aliens paying taxes so many times but let's do it again:
Illegal aliens come here to do "jobs Americans won't do" which are presumably low paying. If you make less than $30,000 a year then you pay NO federal income tax and a minimal amount of state tax. When you file your tax return you then get a child tax credit and earned income credit so that the federal government actually gives you a refund of more than what you had taken from your paycheck for taxes during the year. This is if illegal aliens bother with an ITIN. Many just use a false SSN and then claim the maximum number of dependents so that no taxes get taken out during the year. They don't care because they won't file a return anyways.
As far as I'm concerned, business who market explicitly towards illegal aliens are accepting blood money.

New Lars Larson column
Lars: Legislators took a lot of time to do ... nothing
Larson: I guess that I should be thankful that the Oregon Legislature has spent the better part of the last six months accomplishing precisely ... well, nothing. The 90-odd (and that term applies doubly so in some cases) liberals, progressives, anarchists, bomb throwers and the few remaining conservatives have arranged themselves in self-canceling coalitions incapable of increasing taxes, limiting land use rights, disarming the citizenry or otherwise making a nuisance of themselves. That's the good news.
It's about time Lars got a column in a Fishwrapper. Now I'm just waiting for that book I heard him mention once...
Lars' writing style is great, combining some biting wit, numerous stories and a mention of... me! Thanks so much for the kudos Lars!
Make sure you email Editor Bart Smith, bsmith@newsreview.info and tell him you want them to continue to publish Lars' column.

Thursday night rant
A rant about all things Oregon tonight. Cruising various government sites I can't help but notice how many agencies, commissions, departments, divisions, branches, councils etc that government has layered on us. Two that we could eliminate immediately in Multnomah County are the Public Art and Portland Multnomah Progress Board which does "important" things based on "indicators (named benchmarks)" and apparently this board then acts as a "catalyst" to improve the communities "goals."
I was under the impression that locking up meth dealers was a top priority for the community. The simplest way to accomplish that would be to fire every idiot at the progress board and give the money to the sheriff. But that's just the evaluation of a simpleton who does not have the benefit of "indicators" or a PERS pension...
Thankfully for the three stoners who are able to get out of bed before noon to go to work the ACLU is fighting to keep them employed regardless of whether or not they can pass a drug test. Unfortunately for the ACLU they are losing this fight. This incredulous statement from their website: Despite ACLU opposition, the Oregon House of Representatives approved HB 2693 A-Eng. This bill would allow employers to fire an employee because he or she is a medical marijuana patient even when there is no evidence of impairment on the job.
Can you believe that? The house acted despite ACLU opposition! Don't they know that the ACLU is in charge now? As for the "evidence" of impairment, that's called a drug test. Otherwise we would have to fire people for stuffing doritos in their face while giggling about last nights episode of Spongebob Squarepants.
Do I have to hyphenate my last name like the public editor of the Fishwrapper to get my blog listed on the Oregonlive blog list or what? Or maybe if I started advocating for the "rights" of a homeless transgender drug addict or something like that they would list me... They have never responded to my repeated requests and their list is almost exclusively liberal.
They also don't publish my letters to the editor anymore. I always enjoyed the floodgates of denunciations of my views/beliefs/character after one was published. Now I only get called "ignorant" and "racist" on my blog.
The Portland "kill us last" Peaceful Response Team is gearing up for an action packed weekend. They start with this:
Saturday, July 16th, 2005 11:00 AM - 1:00 PM - ANTI-MILITARY RECRUITING ACTION! Money for Jobs and Education, NOT FOR WAR AND OCCUPATION!
then proceed with their weekly
Friday, July 15th, 2005 5:00 PM - PPRC Friday Rally and March
Here's a rational statement from the moonbats:
ÂWe are profoundly disheartened by Tony BlairÂs speculation that the murderers in this
case carried out these crimes in the name of Islam, just as we are when the crimes of
Bush and Blair are linked to their Christian faiths or to their support for Zionism, said
Seaman. ÂWe must look beyond the superficial self-serving explanations offered by
politicians and the hate-mongers of talk radio if we are to discover the deeper roots of
these acts of violence, to understand why people commit these monstrous crimes, and
how we can act to end the violence.Â
I guess that they want to look for some nuance among the dismembered bodies. For me, anything that "profoundly disheartens" this group is something that any red-blooded American should support.
Even though the DHS Diversity Development Coordinating Council "Represent[s] DHS in all diversity development initiatives," I still think that our tax dollars would be better spent on public safety. Not that "represent[ing] DHS in all diversity development initiatives" isn't super important or anything...
The Daily Emerald makes some absurd statements in their op-ed advocating the passage of SB1000. With typical liberal denial of the fact they say "Even if the majority of Oregonians do not want gay marriage legalized (a sentiment which we hope will prove malleable)"
"If?" Was the vote not conclusive enough for you idiots? And I know that it was sooo long ago but guess what, we haven't changed our decision. I guess our minds aren't as "malleable" as a college student's is when faced with constant indoctrination.
They then talk about that "equality for EVERYONE" bill with this argument: Surely the religious right can agree that civil unions (which ensure fair benefits for certain types of life partners) are the best way to create functioning couples and families for which marriage is not an option.
At least, I thought it was for everyone. Freudian slip, but the Emerald reveals that this bill benefits only "certain type of life partners." How equal...
Challenge I issue to liberals: When you are commenting on this post try to be more creative. No use of the words "racist, ignorant, stupid, or extremist."
That is all.

New Ann Coulter column
Mission Implausible
Karl Rove was right. The real story about Joseph C. Wilson IV was not that Bush lied about Saddam seeking uranium in Africa; the story was Clown Wilson and his paper-pusher wife, Valerie Plame. By foisting their fantasies of themselves on the country, these two have instigated a massive criminal investigation, the result of which is: The only person who has demonstrably lied and possibly broken the law is Joseph Wilson.
So the obvious solution is to fire Karl Rove.
The Ann Coulter explanation for the mass hysteria by the media over Karl Rove's "crimes" or transgressions or Bush's promise or trust or whatever the moving target is at this moment.

Oregon student wins racist pageant
Miss Teen Oregon Latina United States wins the title of Miss Teen Latina United States 2005
Vania Corona, Miss Teen Oregon Latina United States, has won the national title of Miss Teen Latina United States 2005.
Vania is currently a full time college student. She also spends her time doing volunteer work, especially in the Latino community. Although she has a busy schedule fulfilling her duties as the reigning Miss Teen Latina United States 2005, she finds time to do the things she likes best: modeling, sharing time with her friends and dancing.
Imagine if I said that I do volunteer work... especially in the white community. It's interesting how there is a pageant for one ethnicity, a television network for people with one skin color, and taxpayer funded "advocacy" groups for a specific gender, but by making a list of illegal aliens who are in jail (a list that does not single out skin color, ethnicity, gender, but judges people on their behavior) somehow I'm called the racist.

Washington County logo = bullseye
Firearms Policy for Washington County employees
Except as provided in this policy, employees are prohibited from carrying any firearms while on-duty and are prohibited from carrying firearms on County property at any time. This includes employees who have obtained a concealed weapons permit.
This Policy is designed to compliment the County’s ‘Violence in the Workplace Policy’. The intent is to minimize the risk that use of a firearm may result in accidental or intentional harm and minimize the potential for intimidation caused by the presence of firearms.
So if you are a disgruntled employee you can rest easy knowing that yours will be the only gun in the building. This is another example of government being hostile to our constitutional rights. When you allow them any power, any say in the matter, or any jurisdiction, they will take your guns.
While I have no issue with private employers saying no guns a public agency is different. Governments were instituted among men to protect our God given rights, not to limit or outright take them away and Washington County is doing just that.
This actually is a small example of a larger issue: government shoving liberal politics down citizens throats. As heard on Lars today, if Portland gets it's dirty socialist hands on PGE then we will all be buying expensive wind power. (and probably be in the dark a lot) I'm sure that PGE employees would have to leave their guns at home too.
From my cold dead hands...

The great debate: Logic & Facts VS. You Dummy
Blogs are a great way to disseminate news (read tomorrow's Fishwrapper stories today) but also to have an open dialogue. There are a regular group of people who comment here whose contributions are very much appreciated and usually I respond in the comments section, but today I am going to break down the typical liberal argument made by one reader, "Christian," regarding my post of illegal aliens that are in the Washington County Jail. Here is his comment:
Daniel, you racist son-of-bitch! Just because child-molesting kidnappers are overwhelmingly middle-aged and white, I don't go around assuming that every middle-aged white guy is a twisted fucking child molester. In parallel, an estimated 30 to 39 percent of the foreign-born in Oregon are here without proper documentation. Not all foreign born are Hispanic, and not all Hispanics are foreign born. Rather, the overwhelming majority, 96%, of undocumented immigrants participate in the labor force.

You are generalizing the bad actions of a very small proportion of a group to an entire population. Your project here is nothing more than a sad and desperate attempt to deal with your xenophobic fears. Get over it and debate the bigger issues.
What the hell do any of you care about "the efforts of people who come here legally" when you engage in such hysteric and ugly cultural stereotyping. What the fuck do you know about other cultures? Get off your asses and go experience something and stop trying to blame others for your problems. Is this non-pc enough for you?
Liberals always start their arguments with an accusation. More often than not it is an accusation that you are prejudice or racist. Liberals employ this argument because it usually puts people on the defensive. For liberals it is worse to be a "racist" than it is to be a child-molesting drug addict. I simply disregard the name-calling.
Most likely if the liberal accuses you of being racist they will follow with an irrelevant comparison using the "white male" as a potential stereotype "victim." Christian's specific argument in this case is not valid for several reasons:
First, as a father, I do assume that everyone is a child-molester. Do not have that attitude is dangerous and I am responsible for protecting my kids.
Second, my original post had nothing to do with stereotypes. I simply listed all the Washington County inmates who had an ICE (immigration and customs enforcement) hold. These are people who have broken the law, not simply rounded up because of their skin color, ethnicity, or cultural background.
So Christian's argument attempted to redefine my original point which was that illegal aliens continue to commit crimes disproportionately more than the general population. That most illegal aliens are Hispanic is a fact but did not factor into my list. I took all applicable names.
Christian then rattles off several "statistics" that did not seem to support any argument he was making. Presumably he was making the point that "only" 30 - 39% of foreign born people in the US being illegal aliens is far less that the percentage of "middle-aged white guys" who are child molesters. Even I am not so jaded as to believe we have that many perverts.
The liberal will usually realize that he must throw in a factual (and non-debatable) statement in around now so Christian makes the non-point of:
"Not all foreign born are Hispanic, and not all Hispanics are foreign born."
I would assume that the above statement goes without saying. But by saying something that is true and also keeping the argument focused on my "racism," Christian feels like he is making progress.
Christian then points out that not only have these illegal aliens broken our immigration laws but that 96% of them violate our employment laws as well. I'm not sure how this helps his case (I don't care if the illegal alien had a job when he got pulled over for that DUII) and his number is suspect anyways.
A liberal then will attempt to source his information by naming some ridiculous group/poll who agrees with them. HRC will always say that homosexuality is great and you are "born that way" while AFA will say otherwise. Both groups have various "reports" (scientific and otherwise) to back up their conclusion.
Example statement from Urban institute homepage: Broader access to public health insurance programs has kept the number of Americans without coverage from skyrocketing in this economic downturn. Urban Institute health experts explain why.
Real nonpartisan...
Since the original accusation of "racist" does not always work the liberal may follow up with a more sophisticated name, in this case "xenophobic." This is simply a change from "dummy" to "imbecile." It is basically the same thing but now Christian feels more sophisticated.
Christian leaves us with a hilarious comment referring to "any of you" in a general way (presumably referring to myself and people who read this blog) and then accusing "us" of generalizing people. This is to make me the issue rather than what we were originally talking about.
"We" are then told to go "experience something." I'm not sure what the last comment has to do with drug dealers, child-molesters, murderers, and drunk drivers who are in our county illegally but that is my point.
Any time you debate a liberal they will call names, redefine the issue or re-frame the question, make false comparisons, cite liberal groups as evidence, make more personal accusations, then make you the issue before coming up with a "get over it" or some other silly comment that they think should be the end of the conversation.
The important thing is that you realize that liberals are wrong about everything and that you don't hurt your head banging it on the wall when talking to them.

There are currently 302 State Job Announcements Posted
The jobs are listed by category. Guess which category is hiring the most with 52 openings: MANAGEMENT, ADMINISTRATIVE, AND SUPERVISORY. With job titles like FORMS AND TRAINING MANAGER, TRAINING COORDINATOR, AREA 3 MANAGER and PROGRAM MANAGER, SPECIAL MANAGEMENT UNIT (that last one is all one title, they need a manager for their "special management unit") it seems like they might be micromanaging things just a tad. I understand having a branch manager or a unit manager but you probably don't need 20 managers in the same department in the same building each making $6,342 a month.
And while I noted this before you will be excited to know that the state of Oregon, the same state that gives out layoff notices to state police in the forensics lab, is still hiring for a music, art or recreational therapist! So all of you out there with your art therapy degrees apply now! You certainly aren't going to find anyone else stupid enough to hire you. As for solving the latest murder or rape with DNA evidence, art therapy for drug addicts is much more important, and besides, the crime was probably committed by an illegal alien who is on his way back to Mexico right now.

Another list of those who "come here to work hard"
It has been a little over a month since the last time I made a list of all the inmates in the Washington County jail who have an immigration hold. To see the last list go HERE. Time to do it again. I take these names and then send them over to the county elections workers (some of whom are more coopertative than others) to see if any are registered to vote. You can look at this list to see the "positive contribution" that the illegal aliens are making to our society. Keep in mind that these are only people who have an ICE (immigration) hold, other illegal aliens might be incarcerated but immigration has not taken an interest in them yet. Also, since an illegal alien can probably find an attorney faster than you or I, "all suspects are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law."

Again, this is only the list of illegal aliens in one county, and only the illegals who have an immigration hold. The countless victims here did not have to have these crimes happen to them. Our country, whose main job is to provide for the common defense and public safety, chooses to do nothing while these criminals come here to break our laws. You can sign up to be a Minutemen volunteer or contribute to the cause HERE.
I can't afford the mortgage... but I have money for the fair!
House bill gives parks department the run of the Oregon State Fair
SALEM -- The Oregon State Fair, as we know it, would be abolished with a bill that passed the Oregon House on Monday.
I like fairs. They are usually good family fun. But if I can't afford to pay my bills then my family doesn't go. The state can't afford to lock up criminals, they certainly shouldn't be able to host a fair that loses money. So the first sentence of this story pleased me. But then:
Struggling with debt, the Oregon State Fair and Exposition Center would not cease to exist. But the fair and its Salem fairgrounds would get new management and access to additional funding by becoming part of the State Parks and Recreation Department.
The government shell game begins. Instead of saying, "gee, the fair keeps losing money, maybe we should discontinue it or find some private sponsors" they say "hey, let's take money from another budget."
Parks and Recreation stands to gain an additional $9 million in lottery proceeds with the new lottery line games. Yet, Rep. Jeff Barker, D-Aloha, said that additional revenue is not enough reason to saddle Parks and Recreation with the state fair.
Yet another program that gets money from the lottery. I'm surprised they haven't suggested raising the tobbacco tax to support the fair.
Gate receipts have not proven sufficient, however, to sustain the Oregon State Fair and Exposition Center without extra infusions of cash from the state's general fund.
Just like in the private sector... oh wait.
It is not government's job to entertain us, it is their job to provide for the public safety. Until they can do that we should not even consider funding these extras. (and we should all buy guns)

Educators' Union Lays Strategy to Offset Attacks on Pro-Homosexual Policies
(AgapePress) - The National Education Association (NEA) has adopted a new strategy to counter opposition to the formation of Gay-Straight Alliance clubs in public schools, and has condemned opponents of those clubs.
At its recent convention in Los Angeles, representatives of the 2.7-million-member NEA voted overwhelmingly to develop a comprehensive strategy to deal with "the new and more sophisticated attacks" against policies that create a safe environment for "gay, lesbian, bisexual, and transgender" (GLBT) students in schools. The Washington Times quotes the chairman of the Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual and Transgender Caucus of the NEA, who asserted that "extremist groups are using increasingly sophisticated and aggressive tactics to attack school districts with affirming GLBT policies, curriculum, and practices."
The NEA, or as myself and former Education Secretary Rod Paige like to call them: the "terrorist organization" insist on adopting "resolutions" on various social issues like abortion and homosexuality that have absolutely nothing to do with educating our children.
Cancel that, they have everything to do with educating our children. What kind of educational atmosphere do you have when sexual groups are meeting before, during, and after school? How is the learning environment affected by the thousands of pregnant teens who are told that there are no consequences for their actions and that "they are going to do it anyway."
For the teachers, or any union members who read this and don't subscribe to the extreme liberal orthodoxy. Might I suggest you put your union dues towards a better cause, one that you believe in.

'Good-Hearted Folks' from across Big River Continue to Add to Native American Economy
Massachusetts, July 1641 -- Councilmember Squanto put down his beans this week and raised some hay, addressing the assembled tribes on the delicate subject of continued uncontrolled immigration into America from Europe. “If we cannot even control who comes to our land and in what numbers,” he said “we are no longer an independent people, but simply a colony for outsiders to exploit.”...
...“Your words of hate and exclusion shame us!” responded the venerated and rotund Elder Councilmember Tahed Kenha-Di. “These starving migrants from across the Big River do the jobs no self-respecting Brave wants to do.” “Would you sit like squaw at a loom day and night as their weavers do, simply to trade valuable cloth for a few dozen worthless Beaver pelts?” Kenha-Di then added, “The fact is our economy is now intimately dependent upon the proud and harmless white men, many of whom now reside on my tribe’s land and pay their tribute to our council like everyone else. I’m proud to represent the humble newcomers and their valuable trading centers!”
Great satire from the Mac. Now if you'll excuse me, I'm going to go eat my maize on the cobb now.

Our parasitic "partner" to the south
I know that I have blogged on this before but as long as we are talking about education and all it's largesse, I just have to bring this up again.
Oregon-Mexico Education Partnership
On October 4th, 2004, members of the Mexican Government and the US government joined together to officially announce the beginning of a partnership that has been growing between the Consulate of Mexico, the Oregon Department of Education and Willamette Education Service District.
The Community Plaza's provide literacy education in Spanish, Computer Skills and Accreditation and Certification for grades complete. They are for people interested in:
*Having more education for their life and work
*Improving their home language
*Learning English "the easier way"
*Supporting their children with their own example
*Improving their self-esteem, and pride for the Mexican culture
*Obtaining official educational certificates from Mexico
I care soooo much about improving the self-esteem of criminal aliens and their pride in Mexico...
Senor Manrrique also spoke to the benefits to Mexican citizens in the US federal prison system who can get their education while incarcerated, and leave the prison system with a greater knowledge than before, ready to serve their country with positive contributions.
Mexican citizens in our prison systems? I was positive that they just came here to "work hard."
The Consulate of Mexico has developed a new division, initiated by President Fox, President, named the Institute for Mexicans Abroad. Susan Castillo welcomed the Mexican representatives, and helped them know how happy we are to be working so closely with them for the benefit of the Mexican citizens here in Oregon.
And the clincher: Susan Castillo is happy to work for the benefit of the Mexican citizens here illegaly in Oregon. I'm sorry but HEY SUSAN, ARE YOU FUCKING STUPID?!?!?!? How about working for the beneift of American citizens for a couple minutes you worthless excuse for an educator. I am so tired of you, diversity, illegal aliens, and the fact that you all are in bed together and screwing the American people. GRRRRRRRRRRRRR.
OMEP Project timeline and goals
The Consulate of Mexico represents the interest of the Federal Government of Mexico in its relations with other countries...
Funny, so does Susan Castillo...
Duties of the:THE CONSULATE OF MEXICO
*Participates in the design of the administrative politics of the server Oregon-Mexico-E-Plazas
*Will facilitates the process of communication between the educational authorities and the Spanish speaking population residing in Oregon so that both identify options resolve favorably the needs of instruction and education for the life.
Must...try...to...keep...head...from...exploding... This infuriates me to no end. It doesn't matter how many times I hear about it or read another page on it. Let me stress, IT IS NOT ENOUGH TO SIMPLY SECURE OUR BORDERS, WE MUST MAKE THE UNITED STATES (AND OREGON) UNFRIENDLY TO ILLEGAL ALIENS!!!
It is no surprisee they come here, and that Mexico encourages them to come here, when we give them first class treatmentt that we don't even give our own citizens.
Please, please, tell me this is all just a bad dream. Tell me that America's laws do mean something. Tell me that our politicians haven't sold us out. Tell me that my kids won't have to learn Spanish in order to get a job. Tell me that logic still prevails.
*heals clicking together* "there's no place like home, there's no place like home, there's no place like America..."

But HOW MUCH?
Even as class sizes grow, school districts pay high health, pension costs
PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) Â School districts across the state pay teachers, administrators and staff 55 percent more in health insurance and retirement pay than schools across the nation, according to an analysis by The Oregonian newspaper.
The paper found that if the state's school districts did conform to the national rate, schools would save about $500 million next year.
"Taxpayers in Oregon are pumping money into the public education system that doesn't benefit the learning environment in classrooms one bit," Jim Green, senior legislative advocate for the Oregon School Boards Association, told the newspaper.
It feelsrepetitivee to say it again but PERS and theCadillacc health care that Oregon teachers get is bankrupting our schools. Our lawmakers know this, our teachers know this, the unions know this, the citizens (with the exception of Multnomah County) know this, but what is being done? Nothing! The unions aren't willing to give an inch and they know they don't have to. The Dems in the legislature pee their pants when the OEA's lobbyist steps in the room.
And if you need evidence that unions don't give a damn about taxpayer dollars or the community that their "public servants" serve just look at the recent Police and Firefighters disability fund scam. The union opposes fixing that even though everyone in their right mind knows it's a fraud on the taxpayers.
The OEA's website lists this as their number one goal:
The top priority of the Oregon Education Association is to ensure that all students in Oregon receive a quality education.
That is a worthy goal for sure. How do they propose to accomplish it? Make sure that teachers are competent? Fight for a challenging curriculum? No. It's:
To meet this goal, OEA will pursue adequate and stable funding for public education.
I would love for someone to define "adequate" for me. If we currently spend $10,000 per student per year and that isn't enough then tell me what is. I'm tired of "more" or "adequate" or some other vague term to describe how much they want. Really, give me an amount. How much should we spend per student?
This works great when debating liberals because they don't really have an answer other than "more" because they just want as much as taxpayers are willing to concede. Next time you talk to one of those "we need more money for schools" people ask them how much more. They will inevitably say something about "however much it takes" or "reduce class sizes" or some nonsense but insist that they give you a dollar amount.
How much will it take to reduce class sizes? How much will it take to provide a quality education? While they are stuttering throw out $15,000 per student per year? $50,000 per student per year? How much?
The answer is they don't know. They just know that they want MORE. And the reason they want more is not because it will help them better educate our kids but so that they can continue to have pay, on average, $18,300 per employee in health care and retirement benefits.

Increasing our ranks because of Democrat stupidity
Why I'm becoming a Republican
All right, that tears it — I’m becoming a Republican.
It’s been a long time coming and I have a lot of reasons. The straw that broke the camel's back, however, was the Supreme Court vacancy announced last week...
A well written piece in the Daily Emerald of all places. It makes me smile that it's not just me, Rush Limbaugh and Ann Coulter who are pulling our hair out over the fact that even though the Democrats lost the last two elections they still think they get to have a say in picking judges, it's regular on-the-fence guys who see the ridiculousness of it all!
Read the column then drop the writer, Gabe, an email welcoming him to the Republican Party!

Saturday night rant
Does everyone remember how not too long ago the House passed an abortion restriction bill that we all knew was symbolic because it would never even get a hearing in the Senate? Remember how The Daily Dead Fishwrapper did a front page story, including a hug picture, with our legislators hugging each other and celebrating their entirely symbolic victory because they passed a bill that they believed in? I don't remember that either.
But somehow the equally symbolic civil "we don't call it gay marriage" unions bill got a front page, above the fold, headline.
The Fishwrapper did not redeem itself but did give me a chuckle when it documented Dianne "above the law" Linn's bungling of the new Blazers coach, Nate McMillan. Lars played the audio on Friday and it was pretty funny.
Washington Dems spin various conspiracy theories on how Bush and his "cronies" have conspired with Saudi Arabia (and probably various Zionists) to make you pay more for gas but at the same time have fallen in love with a gas tax. An obsessive love at that. I mean, they call every 5 minutes, send love notes all the time, tattoo it's name on their arms... or at least defend it to it's death. Orbusmax has excellent coverage.
This story, Judge: Government canÂt fund Boy Scouts event is absolutely nuts. The ACLU is worried that young men might grow up with some values and is attacking the Boy Scouts with everything they have. In unrelated news, a lesscontroversiall group, NAMBLA (North American man-boy love association) may ask the DOD if they can use the space previously reserved for the scouts. The ACLU wholeheartedly supports this.
In the wonderful forms that government has produced with your tax dollars category tonight we have the:
STATEMENT OF NO SOCIAL SECURITY NUMBER
This is for those illegal aliens who are timid aboutcommittingg ID theft and forgery. I only wish they had found that healthy respect for the law before they came hereillegallyy...

Friday evening rant
Big news in Oregon, at least to various news outlets, is that the senate passed special rights for gays and people who think they aren't the gender they were born with. How does this affect us? It doesn't. The bill won't even get a hearing in the House. But the gays and transgender sites are all abuzz with this "historic moment for equality." Sure. Could my straight co-worker could get health insurance for his roommate? No.
Bryan over at Gayrightswatch (an Oregon blogger) is absolutely breathless about all this and has been compulsively posting on it all day. Hey Bryan, when reality sets in and the euphoria goes away come see me, people in despair are often more receptive to evangelism. You can't hold out on me forever...
Then we have the op-ed pages of the fishwrapper where editorials and letter writers can't seem to make up their mind whether the bombings in London were because Iraq has nothing to do with terrorism or everything to do with terrorism. But everyone comes to the conclusion that it is Bush's fault. He might as well have lit the fuse. The only place you can find crazier people are places like DemocraticUnderground.com where they alternate saying that the bombings are justified or the result of some Zionist plot. Uh-huh, I refer you to the Mac Johnson Homepage where you see a DHS map showing marijuana use and the election map side by side...
Kari "the Fishwrapper calls me a media consultant and plugs my blog as often as possible" Christholm of BlueOregon is demanding an "up-or-down vote" from Karen Minnis and the House. There is no hypocrisy here because a bill restricting pay-day loans is much more serious than judges and we'll just forget about the actual rules governing our legislative bodies.
Can't go without mentioning the situation in London: I say they should bomb the shit out of somebody. Really, make a symbolic gesture. "You don't scare us speeches" are nice but you don't give a daily speech to the bully who takes your lunch money telling him how you aren't scared. You punch him in his face. At least that's what I would do...
Another judge has ruled that the partial birth abortion ban is unconstitutional. I often wonder if the next Bill Gates or Louie Pasteur has been killed before they could make their mark on this world. I am considering finding a cute cuddly animal and sucking the brains out of it's unborn baby with a tube to see if I get charged with animal abuse. Or at least sued by PETA...
Almost forgot, Thursday morning (the day of the London public transit bombs) I went past the Sherwood bus area and saw a driver sitting asleep on the bus with his feet on the steering wheel. I almost wanted to head back home for my camera to take a picture of our hardworking government employee but didn't. Only after I got to work and tuned in the morning news (KXL) did I realize the security implications.

The return of Tre Arrow
B.C. court supports extradition of U.S. environmentalist wanted in Oregon
VANCOUVER (CP) - An environmentalist who is on the FBI's 10 Most Wanted list should be extradited to the United States to face arson charges, a B.C. Supreme Court judge ruled Thursday.
Arrow is a well-known environmentalist from Oregon who fled to Canada after he was charged with conspiring to commit arson against two logging companies in the Portland area and causing $250,000 in damage.
The double standard:
A man who says that "the trees told him to" change his name uses explosive devices in the commission of multiple crimes and he is labeled an "environmentalist."
A Muslim who kills civilians is an "insurgent" or "guerilla" whose religion will not be mentioned.
A man who bombs abortion clinics is a "terrorist" who will be referred to as a Christian.

Our thoughts and prayers go out to the victims of todays terrorist attacks in London. All free people are united against these cowardly attackers who are now rotting in Hell.
Hunt Intensifies for London Terrorists
LONDON — With England's capital city reeling from Thursday's terrorist attacks on its public transportation system, the focus turned to the hunt for who was responsible.
An organization calling itself the "Secret Group of Al Qaeda's Jihad in Europe" (search) claimed it carried out the coordinated series of four explosions, three on the subway and one on a double-decker bus during the morning rush hour.

Going the extra mile for criminals
Teachers cross borders for Oregon’s migrant students
When Carmen Gamino walked into her migrant summer school classroom at Butte Creek last month she knew she had a lot of work to do to restore the cultures each child had left behind in Mexico.
This summer, seven teachers from Jalisco, Guanajuato, Oaxaca and Sonora, Mexico teamed up with Butte Creek’s migrant summer school as part of the Binational Migrant Education Program to restore identities and give migrant children a better education.
“We remind the children here about their cultures, their background and their history,” said Maria Guatalupe, an elementary teacher from Jalisco, Mexico. “I’m here because I want to exchange experiences and knowledge with the students.”
Whether in Mexico or the United States, children have the right to continue their education.
This is the slogan that drove more than two-dozen Mexican teachers, like Gamino and Guatalupe, across the border to teach in migrant summer schools throughout Oregon this month. Seven of them are teaching in the Silver Falls School District.
I have a slogan for you: If the immigration status doesn't fit... you must deport!
Ok, I'm not as smooth as a lawyer who thinks that the constitution requires him to make sure that guilty men go free but it still works. The purpose of this "program" is to help the illegal alien children retain their Mexican roots rather thank assimilate into our culture.
Some of these children are American citizens. Their parents (ok, usually a "dad" who is a sperm donor to multiple women and then takes off) came here illegally but the children were born here. But instead of teaching these kids to be Americans we are teaching them to be Mexicans. Why? Is their culture better than ours? I sure don't see thousands of Americans emigrating to Mexico...
Things like Mexican flags, the Mexican anthem, and Mexican state seal have no place in our government schools. These kids grow up thinking that they are "Mexican" when they aren't and they have a loyalty to a country other than the one that they are born in and that has given them so much opportunity.
I say that if American citizens want to identify as "Mexicans" then they can go live there for a while. Maybe then they will appreciate our shining city on a hill.

Senator Smith on the Lars Larson show
tomorrow Senator Smith will be on the Lars Larson show (local Oregon show) to answer questions about whether or not he would support Alberto Gonzales if he were nominated to the Supreme Court. Make sure that you tune-in and call-in so that Smith knows we don't want a judge who disagrees with parental notification for minors to have an abortion but agrees with racist groups such as the National Council for 'The Race.'

Tell Senator Smith "NO" to Gonzales
For those of you who have been living in a cave (Osama, you smell like a camel, just give it up) there is an opening on the United States Supreme Court which decides important matters such as: will the government allow you to continue to live in "your" home and how old do you have to be to kill a baby by sucking his/her brains out.
Therefore, the selection of our exalted supreme masters who serve on this court is very important. That is why I am asking Senator Smith to oppose a nomination of Alberto Gonzales. During the election President Bush pledge to appoint a "strict constructionist" to the court.
A "strict constructionist" is someone who believes that a judge interprets laws and the constitution instead of making laws. Generally speaking this type of judge would not find that the constitution guarantees a drug addict "the right" to clean needles paid for by your tax dollars.
Alberto Gonzales is not constructionist.
While serving on the Texas Supreme Court Gonzales delivered an opinion for the majority finding the "right" of a minor child to have an abortion because she was "mature" enough to kill her baby. Dissenting judge Priscilla Owens was recently confirmed to the 5th Circuit Court of Appeals.
See case: IN RE JANE DOE
While I disagree with conferring an adult status on minor children because of perceived "maturity" I think that it is absolutely reprehensible to allow a minor to make a decision to abort a baby without having to discuss it with her parents and legal guardians. I do not believe that the United States Constitution or the Texas law requiring parental notification required Gonzales to allow this child to have an abortion but that it was his personal opinion on the matter that guided his decision. We do not need that on the Supreme Court.
Gonzales also supports affirmative action (the practice of promoting one race over another) and has garnered the support of racist groups such as the National Council for 'The Race' and has wholeheartedly accepted their support. NCLR chose to endorse Gonzales for AG because he "agreed to review the Administration's positions on sentencing reform" which is a fancy way of saying that they would allow criminals to get out of prison sooner and he "articulated some reservations about the practice of 'deputizing' local police to enforce immigration laws."
Clearly illegal immigration is a problem in this country (I won't go over all the reasons why right now, feel free to see previous posts) and Gonzales wants to deny law enforcement a tool to combat these criminals.
See: NCLR ENDORSES NOMINATION OF ALBERTO GONZALES FOR ATTORNEY GENERAL
On March 8, 2005 Gonzales gave a speech to his "people" at the National Council of 'The RaCapitolitol Awards Gala. During this speech Gonzales said that "I am humbled and grateful to stand on the shoulders of groups like La Raza." (La Raza = The Race) At this same event Chairwomen Janet Murguia said that: "We are going to put our people first."
See: Remarks of Attorney General Alberto Gonzales at NCLR Capital Awards Gala on March 8, 2005
The issues relating to the above subject that could come before the Supreme Court are numerous. From affirmative action to English-only legislationtion and the rights of illegal immigrants. We do not need a judge who considers a single race to be his "people" sitting on the court.
It is for these reasons that I am urging you to immediatelyatly contact Senator Gordon Smith and tell him to oppose Alberto Gonzales if nominated to the high court. Don't be afraid to call/email him multiple times, you are his boss and you pay his salary. His job is to listen to YOU!

New Mac Johnson column
Tax the Poor
When you buy a toaster, or socks, or lettuce, or a car, you pay corporate taxes. No corporation has ever paid taxes, they just collect the money from you, and pass it along to government, the members of which will proudly hail the funds as a form of justice collected from the powerful to spare you, the powerless. Meanwhile you can’t figure out why everything is so darn expensive. It’s all just bookkeeping nonsense: the receipt says “socks: $2.49”, not –as it should- “socks $1.97, hidden tax scam $0.52.” Since you never see the breakdown, and the money is not paid directly to the government, you never swat at the mosquito you should.
Mac starts with this simple edict that we are all familiar with and then goes a step further. Read it, know it, recite it to your friends.

They care... about themselves
If anyone needed yet another example that government does not care about taxpayers, tax dollars, or efficiency then you just needed to look at today's Fishwrapper article:
Paid not to work
A disabled police officer stands guard over Portland Trail Blazers owner Paul Allen at the Rose Garden.
An injured firefighter scrambles up mountains and through woods on his TV show, "Northwest Hunter."
Another disabled firefighter owns an upscale Portland restaurant, aided by city taxpayers who subsidized his training at the prestigious French Culinary Institute in New York.
All have one thing in common: Though clearly able to work, they continue to collect thousands of dollars in benefits each month from the Portland Fire and Police Disability and Retirement Fund.
City Commissioner Randy Leonard, a former fire union president and past trustee of the fund, says police and firefighters have come to depend upon a system that has proven to be stable, predictable and professional.
"If every bureau in the city ran as well as (the fund), we'd be a very well-run city," Leonard said. "They take caring for taxpayer dollars very seriously."
The fund is exempted from property tax limits, which means its tax rate can rise automatically to cover all of its costs. Other government services -- still subject to tax limits -- get what's left. As a result, the fund consumed $14 million that otherwise would have flowed to schools, libraries and parks over the past eight years.
I notice that the online version of this story is different than the print version and does not contain this:
The incentive is missing because money for the disability system doesn't come out of the budget the City Council and Police and Fire Bureaus control. Instead, the system is paid for directly by property taxes.
So reducing property taxes is not an "incentive" enough for government to be efficient. But wait, they have all kinds of government programs to help "create" affordable housing don't they? Yes, kind of like a crack dealer gives the first hit away free, government creates "clients" by screwing them and then coming to the rescue.
This story makes me sick. It sounds like a real "good ol' boys club" that knows it has a sweet deal on someone else's dime and doesn't want anyone to burst that bubble. The online version does have example after example (with dollar amounts) that show what these people were getting paid while they were doing other, very physically demanding, work. It also sounds like these people want to continue with their gravy train while at the same time their union is crying about the schools not having enough money.
How the residents of Portland and Multnomah County can continue to vote themselves higher taxes when it is clear to anyone with half a brain... oh, I just answered my own question. Silly me.
Bottom line: they just don't care how they spend your money.

Gays are all about the "family"
COALITION URGES TWO SAN DIEGO SEX OFFENDERS: SURRENDER TO AUTHORITIES
Washington, DC – The Traditional Values Coalition urged two convicted child molesters who are officials of the upcoming San Diego ”Gay Pride” celebration to surrender to authorities for violating the federal Megan’s law.
The two men, Warren Patrick Derichsweiler also known as Ric Derichsweiler and Daniel Reiger, are both listed as supervisors or coordinators in the official program of the July 29-31 San Diego Gay Pride Parade and Festival, according to the James Hartline Report.
The San Diego Gay Pride organization is also the sponsor of the recent San Diego Gay Youth Pride event.
But groups like "love makes a family" has been insiting that gays are now all about raising children rather than the bathhouse lifestyle. This is made very apparent HERE and HERE at the official "parties" of the gay pride event. (explicit)
The gay movement can't seem to get away from the "we are sluts" theme that involves topless women and men in G-strings. Unfortunately they try to include children at these same events to give the appearance of the normal American family. But instead of demonstrating that gays would make good parents they just show that they are willing to let their children observe sexual degenerates acting out fetishes in public.
Bottom line: Kids need a mommy and a daddy to grow up healthy, gay pride events are just The Rocky Horror Picture Show disguised as a "civil rights" movement, and I'm tired of hearing the juvenille arguments made in their defense.
Try this on for size. Many "gays" spent years "in denial" while being with people of the opposite sex. Then they "come out" as being gay insisting that they were that way all along. Now, I for one couldn't "be in denial" and be gay for 24 years of my life and be with men before I decided to then be with women. That would be repulsive to me. The fact that "gays" are able to be with someone of the opposite sex for a period of time, I think, demostrates that they then choose to be gay. But hey, I guess the gays are counting on the fruit flies to prove me wrong...

Just me ranting
No link to a news story here, just a grumpy rant from me. Last night the wife and I borrowed a movie from a neighbor, "Napoleon Dynamite," this was an "MTV Films" movie and would arguably constitute "torture" if people who cut heads off and fly planes into buildings were forced to watch it at Guantanamo Bay. Really, this was the worst movie I have ever seen. (I have not yet watched Fahrenheit 9/11) I kept waiting for something to make sense but no plot ever materialized.
So after staying up pretty late watching that piece of garbage I woke up early on my Saturday morning to head to the local DMV. My wife had spoken to a DMV employee on Thursday who had said that Saturday morning would be a great time to come in. Pull into the DMV parking lot and it's empty. Walk up to the door (the one that says "Hours: Saturday 8:00am - 12:30pm") and it has a "closed" sign on it. No explanation, just a closed sign next to the print that indicates the place should be open.
Obviously I am an angry consumer at this point so I decide to take my business elsewhere... oh wait. Dammit!
So I come back home to have my breakfast and read the Daily Dead Fishwrapper. For those of you not keeping score, the new baby killing terminology is out: "Reproductive Rights." This is not a new term but since the O' Connor retirement the phrase seems to be all over the place.
I guess that "reproductive rights" does sound a little more palatable than "inserting a needle and sucking out the babies brains."
Then I read the disgusting news item HERE about those poor terrorists who defiantly stand up to the imperialist Americans by throwing urine and feces at them. The AP breathlessly reported that "one soldier delivered two blows to the inmate's head with a handheld radio," that the "inmate was covered in blood" and the soldier was dropped in rank. Of course the blows to the head were because the inmate knocked a guards tooth out and was biting and resisting.
I'm getting pretty sick of the media and democrats always taking the position that is least favorable to America. Who thinks we should search grandma instead of Mohammed at the airport? Terrorists, democrats and the media. Who thinks that "yelling" is torture at Gitmo? Terrorists, democrats, and the media. Who wants to give lawyers to people who kill civilians, don't wear a uniform, don't fight for a country, and cut peoples heads off? Terrorists, democrats, and the media. Who thinks that we should cut and run in Iraq? Terrorists, democrats and the media.
What do I think? I think that a conflict can be won by the guy who is willing to take it further. If I'm in charge then all dead terrorists are buried with pig intestines. All captured terrorists and housed at Gitmo except they are in a 5 X 4 cell, naked, and roomates with a pig. The pigs will be fed shredded Koran. (The religion of peace says that since pigs are unclean you might not get those 72 virgins if you come into contact with them) Terrorists who throw urine and feces would get two extra pigs in their cell while the guard would taunt them will calls of "where's your Allah now, bitch?"
All those thoughts went through my head during breakfast. (cheese omelet and toast, could have used some bacon though...)
Then I came across the "NewsFocus" section of the paper. I thought that this page, of all pages, would focus on "news" as opposed to the editorial position of the Fishwrapper. (did you know that measure 37 needs to be "fixed") But alas the story on the gods, err, supreme court justices, let loose the Freudian slip. According to the Fishwrapper, Anthony Kennedy's "shift on abortion saved Roe v. Wade" therefore doing women the favor of trading chastity, virtue, and chivalry for the ability to kill their babies.
Kennedy didn't "decide" or "swing" the vote on Roe, he "saved" it. I say he has blood on his hands.
Goodnight.

Too far left for academia?
Diversity plan sparks controversy with faculty
The controversy surrounding the University's Five Year Diversity Plan shows no signs of dissipating, as professors threaten to leave the University if the current draft is approved...
President Frohnmayer,” in which they called the Diversity Plan “Orwellian” and “frightening.”
“As for faculty thinking of leaving: I am,” said N. Chris Phillips, a math professor and co-signer of the open letter.
Kleshchev, a Russian immigrant, says the plan conjures up memories of his former homeland.
“Look, I am personally not going to be interrogated about my thoughts, and I am not going to go to reeducation camps either,” said Kleshchev, alluding to the Five Year Diversity Plan's requirement that faculty participate in a summer diversity seminar.
Wow, this has been going on for some time now but it seems as if the situation is heating up. I for one, am glad that these proffessors are getting a taste of what the real world has been putting up with for a while with things like affirmative action, diversity training, etc.
I think this might really represent a change in thinking at the campus when terms like "Orwellian" and "Soviet Union" are being used. Don't get me wrong, those words are definitely appropriate to describe this multicultural nonsense but you don't usually see this kind of push-back from our university proffessors. I guess it's one thing to preach it to others but when your own job is on the line it makes you think different...
