Votes are again told to jump in a lake

Oregon judge blocks measure restricting immigrant hiring
A Columbia County judge blocked a voter-backed ballot measure that would fine employers for hiring illegal immigrants from taking effect as scheduled Monday.

The measure was challenged by a coalition of Columbia County business owners and voters represented by the American Civil Liberties Union and the Northwest Workers' Justice Project.

You can see the actual lawsuit here. The plaintiffs who need to be boycotted include:

Plaintiff Daniel R. Garrison is the proprietor of Daniel R. Garrison, CPA, PC, a business in Columbia County.

Plaintiff Gary Liao is the proprietor of whereexactly.com, a business in St. Helens.

Plaintiff Tony Mandella is a construction contractor and a voter within Columbia County, Oregon.

And most interesting to me is:

Plaintiff Jesus Ochoa-Madrueno is a resident of Columbia County and is ordinarily employed in construction work in the County. He is of Mexican national origin.

Does this mean an illegal alien is suing the voters of Columbia County? All other plaintiffs are listed as a "voter of Columbia County who own real property." What does "ordinarily employed" mean? I don't know for sure that Mr. Ochoa-Madrueno is an illegal alien but in this context the indicators sure seem to point in that direction.

It stands to reason that this measure, which simply requires the government to enforce their own laws, caused the above plaintiff to become unemployed since he was working illegaly, identifying himself illegaly, commiting perjury and probably ID theft by using your SSN or mine when he filled out his employment paperwork.

The media won't look into this because they are not reporters of the news, they are lapdogs for liberablism. The outrage that would occur if the public new that an illegal alien could sue to overturn the will of the voters would be tremedous.

It will be easier to steal elections I guess

Oregon Could Join Washington In Offering Online Voter Registration
Registering to vote in Oregon could soon be as easy as a few clicks of the mouse. State lawmakers are considering a bill that would make Oregon one of a handful of states to allow online voter registration.

You could soon be able to sign up to vote in your PJ’s in Oregon. Actually, you can do that already. But you have to print out the form, find a stamp and put it in the mail.

Rep. Ben Cannon: “What we’re envisioning here is a one-click process for voter registration, so, lowering that barrier to participation.”

Gross apathy is what lowers participation. If you can't take the time to put a stamp on an evelope then maybe you shouldn't be able to raise my property taxes to say nothing of affecting the peaceful transfer of power in the greatest country on earth.

Here's an easy one

Here's a headline I would like to see: "Hard economic times force junkies to buy their own needles."

Here is a link to a Google cache of Oregon's HIV PREVENTION COMPREHENSIVE PLAN that has the term "needle exchange" highlighed. (multiple multiple multiple times)

(first number is Oregon HIV prevention program money, the second number is money they took from your other pocket, probably your federal pocket)

Benton county
$3,167
$20,607
Needle exchange and related outreach

Dechutes county
$4,863
$1,400
Needle exchange and related outreach

Douglas county
$9,000
$32,387
Needle exchange and related outreach

Jackson county
$7,181
Needle exchange and related outreach
(state only)

Josephine county
$5,612
Needle exchange and related outreach
(state only)

Lane county
$20,000
Needle exchange and related outreach
(state only)

Multnomah county
$52,113
$286,920
Needle exchange and related outreach

I'll just stop there. How about: if you don't want to get AIDS don't stick needles full of meth into your veins? Wouldn't that work without having Multnomah County spend over $300,000 on making sure the biggest losers in society have a fresh needle?

It's time for the legislature to stop funding this program.

Wisdom from the internet

This year, taxpayers will receive an Economic Stimulus Payment. This is a very exciting new program that I will explain using the Q and A format:

Q. What is an Economic Stimulus Payment?

A. It is money that the federal government will send to taxpayers.

Q. Where will the government get this money?

A. From taxpayers.

Q. So the government is giving me back my own money?

A. No, they are borrowing it from China . Your children are expected to repay the Chinese.

Q. What is the purpose of this payment?

A. The plan is that you will use the money to purchase a high-definition TV set, thus stimulating the economy.

Q. But isn't that stimulating the economy of China ?

A. Shut up.

This is America, speak English

State of Oregon now hiring:
Eligibility Worker/Bilingual: English-Somali
$2,473 - $3,587 MONTHLY

This employment opportunity is with Children, Adults and Families, which is part of the Department of Human Services (DHS). There is one full-time position located in BEAVERTON. This position is represented by a union.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Assessing the needs of applicants/recipients, determines eligibility and issues benefits for the Food Stamp program, Oregon Health Plan (OHP), and programs for adult clients.

Advocating for and ensures appropriate ongoing benefits and services to participants transitioning into successful long-term employment

The taxpayers are going to hire someone to advocate for ongoing welfare benefits for someone who only speaks Somali. Would you say that those recipients are "work ready" when they can't speak any English?

I'm not sure what the Somali-speaking population of the metro area is but it apparently requires at least one full time DHS worker. Next week I'm hoping to see Sudanese.

Victory doesn't involve having working plumbing

Hamas Declares Victory, Control Over Gaza Strip
"We are in control and we are the winner," Hamas legislator Mushir al-Masri declared this week, after attending the funeral of four Hamas gunmen.

For now, most Gazans seem to rally behind Hamas, united in their anger at Israel, though there are some murmurs of discontent.

"Hamas fought the Israelis. No one else did," said Samir Summad, 66, whose four-story house was damaged during an air strike last week that killed Said Siam, a top Hamas leader.

Summad would not say whether he resented Siam for putting the neighborhood at risk. Siam was visiting a brother at the time of the strike. "If I had known he was there, I would have run away," said Summad, adding that five of his family members were wounded in the attack.

You don't resent the terrorists fighting from civilian population centers? You support Hamas? Then I don't feel bad for you when you have no running water, no food and your house gets destroyed. You want to wait for the government to hand out your cooking oil?

Hamad Abu Shamla, 24, waited for seven hours, only to leave empty-handed. The unemployed carpenter — he lost his job to the blockade — said he last had cooking gas five months ago, and that he, his wife and four children have mostly been living on canned food and bread since then.

If that's victory I'd hate to see what failure looks like.

Special Rights says a lot without saying anything

Basic Rights Oregon Statement on Mayor Adams’ Disclosure
We have been hearing from many of you since the news broke that Portland Mayor Sam Adams lied about his relationship with a young man he claimed to have mentored. It is clear that emotions are running very high and here at BRO, we feel the need to take a deep breath and step back from the fray.

The question now is whether Sam can rebuild trust with Portland voters. That will determine his path forward. He’s going to have to work hard at it, and only time will tell.

Blah blah blah, responsibility, equality, blah blah BUT SHOULD HE RESIGN? Roey Thorpe's group is simply a cesspool of left-wing blather that will not hold "their" candidate accountable.

It is telling that they no longer operate under the guise of defending people who choose homosexual behavior, but instead they openly fight for abortion, unions, amnesty for illegal aliens and racial policies.

They have "coalition partners—in the choice, labor, LGBT and immigrant rights movements alike."

Because it's just not fair

Create a White House Office on Urban Policy: President Obama and Vice President Biden will create a White House Office of Urban Policy to develop a strategy for metropolitan America and to ensure that all federal dollars targeted to urban areas are effectively spent on the highest-impact programs. The Director of Urban Policy will report directly to the president and coordinate all federal urban programs.

Lower Interest Payments by Creating a New Mortgage Interest Tax Credit: Many middle class Americans do not receive the existing mortgage interest tax deduction because they do not itemize their taxes. Obama and Biden will ensure that middle-class Americans get the financial assistance they need to purchase or keep their own home by creating a 10 percent universal mortgage credit that gives tax relief to 10 million Americans who have a home mortgage.

Why do middle class Americans not itemize their taxes? BECAUSE THEIR STANDARD DEDUCTIONS ARE SUFFICIENT! Standard deductions, like your children, can be enough to completely erase your federal tax burden so there is no need to go looking for that donation receipt to Goodwill.

A mortgage credit is just another way to "spread the wealth" to people who don't pay federal income tax. A credit is different than a deduction.

A deduction is liking a 5% off coupon you use at Wal-Mart. A credit is like Wal-Mart sending you money even though you don't shop there.

Read the whole urban policy and be afraid.

The official Sam Adams tasteless joke post

Ok, it clearly has to be done because they have been flying left and right.

"This scandal has probably left a bad taste in Beau Breedlove's mouth."

"I'm not going to get behind Sam... and I'm not going to let him get behind me."

and Lars' refrain today:

"Live from Portland, the only city in Oregon where an 18 year old can enjoy a Sam Adams."

Please add you own in the comments.

The green inauguration

It's always good to see people practice what they preach. Clearly I should have to ride a bike to work today to "offset" the litter that the Obama supporters left.

The irony of it

Statesmen Journal editorial:
Interpret King's dream through action
If we want to honor King, we'll follow his path. We'll leave our chairs, our sofas, our endless meetings and strategy sessions and go into the streets.

We'll start by confronting our own prejudices that someone is different — not as good as us — because his or her skin color or dress or speech is different from our own. We'll begin to understand that Oregon, for all its surface friendliness, holds a deep undercurrent of racism.

We'll follow the lead of Willamette University, which has canceled classes this coming Friday afternoon so students, faculty and staffers can go into the streets.

But we'll do more than demand equal opportunity in our schools and businesses. We'll set that example in our hiring and teaching decisions.

When we're hiring, we'll give opportunities to the unemployed, to young people seeking their first jobs, to ex-prisoners seeking a new start, to people who don't fit the company mold.

This editorial is incoherent blather. I guess the point here is that you are all racist scum who shouldn't judge people by the content of their character but instead hire people based on superficial requirements like skin color or age.

The sad thing is that today we will likely hear an endless reference to the skin color of our new president.

Brace yourself for the shock

Shooting erupts at 'Notorious' movie
A 32-year-old man was shot twice in the abdomen during an argument and an estimated 700 people were evacuated when gunfire broke out at a Greensboro movie theater Friday night.

Up to 2,000 teens involved in disturbance at Lancaster movie theater
Five people were arrested for disorderly conduct and possession of marijuana at the Cinemark Movies 14 theater at 3250 W. Pleasant Run Road.

Many of the teens were there to try and see one of two R-rated films: Notorious and My Bloody Valentine.

4 Knifed at “Notorious” After-Party
One man is in critical condition after he and three others were stabbed at a party for the release of the Biggie Smalls biopic “Notorious” over the weekend.

The list goes on and on (and this is just opening weekend) but the real kicker for me is this one:

Notorious Movie Premiere in New York Brings B.I.G. Celebrities
...celebrities, entertainers, friends and family all came together at the ‘Notorious’ Movie Premiere.

They actually have red carpet style photos of these degenerates going to this movie. (probably a private screening where the actual thugs can shoot, stab and riot on them) Diddy is the guy who got a tour of the White House from Bush, the guy who endorsed Obama and put out this YouTube video:

How charming.

Parents of the lowest order

I'm taking a break from watching videos of terrorist's children crying in Palestine and have run across this video of an illegal alien's children crying.

Now the folks who posted the video, the blog where I found the video and the commenters on YouTube all seem to place the blame for the crying children on law enforcement. Why doesn't anyone blame the mom for commiting the crimes?

Hamas loves to hide behind children and so do the illegal aliens. It scumbaggery at it's worst. You are simply putting your selfish wants in front of doing what's best for the kids.

You really are a bad parent to come here illegaly and have children. You could be arrested at any moment and be deported. YOU will be responsible for uprooting your family. It is YOUR CHOICE to put yourself in a position where your kids could be left crying while you are handcuffed.

I feel bad for the kids, I am disgusted with the parents.

Don't bring a fake gun to a gunfight

Bend holdup victims pull real gun on fake gun
Three Bend men used a realistic but fake handgun to rob a southeast Bend duplex late Sunday night, police said - but a victim confronted them with a real shotgun, holding one suspect at gunpoint until officers arrived.

Mack said the robbers - Little, Lawrence and Lagutaris - planned to rob the victims, a man 19-year-old man and 20-year-old woman, of money, but one of the intended victims confronted them with a shotgun. Two fled and one was held at gunpoint until police arrived.

I get so sick of the "the robber got the money but no one was hurt" robbery stories on the local tv news. In this case the good guys refused to be victims.

Now that a citizen has rightfully defended himself we can hope that the government does it's job and locks these scumbags up for a good long time.

Legislature as a second language

For those of you who are LSL let me do a couple helpful translations that will arrise in this legislative session:

Help verb: Make you do something that you don't want to.
"We'll help you to live more green."

Invest verb: Tax and spend.
"The state of Oregon will invest in needle exchange programs."

Children noun: Union.
"It's for the children."

Revenue noun: Tax you.
"We'll have to look for another source of revenue."

Create jobs verb: Grow government.
"To get out of the recession we must creat jobs."

Cut noun: An increase.
"We'll have to cut the budget."

I hope that these translations help. Now go bury your wallet in the backyard.

Monday night pic

It's a proven fact that the homeland hasn't been attacked since Jack Bauer appeared on 24...

Chamber of illegal commerce

Follow up to below post
DHS postpones E-Verify requirement
The federal government has postponed until Feb. 20 a requirement for government contractors to use the E-Verify system to check the eligibility of their employees to work in the U.S.

The Department of Homeland Security announced Friday it would push back the date because of a federal lawsuit filed Dec. 23 by the U.S. Chamber of Commerce and other business groups. The suit contends the government doesn’t have the authority to make E-Verify mandatory for contractors.

The Chamber of Commerce is saying that the government doesn't have the authority to enforce it's own laws. They are also saying that they don't care about American workers.

From the Chamber's website:
The IP (intellectual property) of innovative industries is increasingly under assault around the globe as governments and NGOs aggressively seek to erode patent, trademark, and copyright protections; undermine international trade rules; and destroy innovation and research-based industries. Anti-IP forces are pressing their attacks in the U.S. Congress, in a growing number of key nations, and in multilateral forums like the World Trade Organization, the World Health Organization...

How come they don't call for amnesty for those who commit copyright infringment? Where is the lawsuit that says the federal government can't verify that someone has violated at patent Criminal companies who produce knockoff products unite!

We don't get to pick and choose which laws we follow. Once you enter the realm of picking and choosing it becomes anarchy.

It is good for business when we follow ALL the laws. Immigration, labor and copyright.

Support American workers

100,000 Employers Use E-Verify Program
U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) announced today that more than 100,000 employers have signed up to participate in E-Verify, a free, easy to use online system that equips participating employers with the tools to quickly and effectively verify the employment eligibility of newly-hired employees.

While participation in E-Verify is voluntary, 15 states now require certain employers to participate and comply in some manner with a federal work authorization verification program.

That's 100,000 employers who demonstrate that they want to follow the law and hire only legal workers. With a difficult job market this news should be heralded as a great victory for those who are seeking work.

When you apply for a job with an employer who uses E-Verify that means you are not competing with an illegal workforce.

Let's make sure that we patronize any business that uses E-Verify and keep our dollars away from those who don't.

Used as a noun, not an adjective

Couple charged in Seattle with gay immigration fraud
A federal grand jury in Seattle has charged two people in an alleged immigration fraud conspiracy, saying they advised straight immigrants to claim homosexuality in applying for political asylum.

According to an indictment unsealed Tuesday, the Mahoneys in at least three cases advised immigrants to falsely claim that they feared persecution for homosexuality if they returned to their home country.

It's kind of like that office joke that says when the boss calls you into his office and you know you are about to get fired you just need to quickly blurt out "I'm gay" before he says anything.

This is the problem with treating a behavior as a civil right. How do you prove or disprove a claim? Do you demand to see a homosexual act?

They are like "guest worker" programs except they don't give amnesty to current criminals.

And do we really need the "gay visa" when we already have the following:

Visas:
B-1 Business Visitor Visa
B-2 Tourist Visitor Visa
B-1/B-2 Visa Extension
E-1 Treaty Trader Visa
E-2 Treaty Investor Visa
E-3 Visa for Australians
F-1 Student Visa
H-1B Work Visa
H-2B Work Visa
H-3 Trainee Visa
J-1 Exchange Visitor Visa
K-1 Fiancee Visa
L-1 Intracompany Visa
P Visa Athlete/Entertainer
R-1 Religious Visa
TN Nafta Work Visa

Green Cards:
Green Card Lottery
Marriage to U.S. Citizen
Through Adoption
Through Employment
Through Investment
Through Relatives
As a Special Immigrant
Green Card Renewal

The problem is not that we don't allow enough immigrants, the problem is that the reward of living in America is so desirable that people are willing to lie, cheat and steal their way in.

Criminals feel degraded

License control
PUBLISHED ON 1/7/09

Oregon was once a sanctuary for illegal immigrants from neighboring states to gain driver licences. However, with the recent addition to Senate Bill 1080, which initially passed in February 2008, Oregon is taking steps to make it more difficult for those people to obtain licenses.

Immigration Specialist Helpline Consultant Mario Hernandez believes the new law is increasingly degrading to illegal immigrants who he said are not only left without a legal means of transportation, but are also crippled in their search for jobs, many of which require licences.

The final installation of the three-part law will go into effect Jan. 1, 2010 and will allow the DMV to issue licenses for the length of an immigrant's stay, rather than issuing a license to be valid for eight years.

The Daily Emerald is reporting this story a little late but it's always fun to find a story where someone is quoted about illegal aliens being "degraded" and "unable to look for work" which they can't legally perform.

Appropriate quote

“Great danger lies in the notion that we can reason with evil.” —Doug Patton

Two pro-Hamas videos from SF rally:

The sheeple mentality is staggering.

Because only the victims should die

Oregon justice suggests death penalty review
An Oregon Supreme Court justice has recommended that the court review the constitutionality of the death penalty.

Justice Martha Walters wrote in a concurring opinion on a Portland case that the court should consider Oregon's experience with the death penalty and again examine its constitutionality.

Maybe Justice Walters is confused but the constitutionality of this issue has been settled for quite some time. But liberals seems to treat laws they don't like the same way they treat elections they don't win: keep counting until they get their way.

Let's not sentence the worst offenders in Oregon to a lifetime of cable tv, card games and walks in the yard. Let's punish and deter future crime with the death penalty.

It's a free lunch

Free electronics recycling starts up in Oregon
Heads up If you're getting rid of junk today: This is the first weekend that you can recycle your old televisions, computers and computer monitors for free in Oregon.

Electronics manufacturers are paying for the program.

I'll admit that I am going to use this new law, the difference is that I know it's not "free." I will pay for it the next time I buy a computer monitor, television, etc. Maybe someone who works for an electronics company paid for it by being laid off.

When the end user sees no cost it's not hard to convince them that something is "free." This program, like so many other "free" programs, will result in some people paying less than their share and others picking up the burden.

There may be some excellent reasons for government to force electronics companies to incur the cost of recycling these items but please, don't call it free.
