One headline tells the story. One headline reveals that someone was outside protesting capitialism during journalism class...
The first line (on the Google news search) is also an editorial:
"Democratic Gov. Ted Kulongoski, apparently benefiting from an angry voter mood toward President Bush and the Republican Party, now ..."
I guess this is where I could write "the author of this article, apparently suffering from a mental illness, is..."
I guess they do back up their statement with one piece of "evidence"... they interview a reporter who hates Bush.

If you don't have a drivers license because you don't have a birth certificate or other papers you should go to Oregon and get one while you still can. They may change the law next year. Currently Oregon is one of a handful of states that does not require proof of citizenship or legal residency for a license.

105. For Saxton: What are you going to do to help the Hispanic community if you are elected? I heard on the radio that you are going to take licenses from illegal immigrants. Hispanics are a big part of our community, and I don’t think they should be singled out. Illegal immigrant is anyone from a foreign nation who is inside the borders of our nation unlawfully, that is entering the United States without permission, as one would enter you home without permission. Race or ethnic background isn't the issue, it is the proof of documentation of legal status that is the issue. However people who do not speak english fluently are targeted because the English language is the primary language of the United States, and non-english speaking people are a clue that they are foreigners.

I have a funny feeling that if Oregon manages to get tough on illegal aliens they are just going to flock up here. We have enough already and a Gov that refuses to address that issue. She is too busy raising our taxes.

Landscape management ran an article in which they discussed why native-born workers will not do the jobs that immigrants are doing.
Back in 1992 I tried to apply for summer work at a nursery in Boring, but I was told by the foreman or management the position open was reserved for Hispanics. I later ended up doing summer work as housekeeping at a hotel (later becoming night auditor). I wan't fully aware of the hiring laws back then in my high school days. Gotta start somewhere.

ReplyDeletePEOPLE-There will be a huge Legislative push by Democrats to invent a Special License for Illegal Aliens (another reason for them to raise Taxes so we can pay for this special service). Tennessee tried this and after 50,000 Licenses were sold they STOPPED this. Organized Crime from other states, bringing them in for Photo Id, was the reason.

ReplyDeleteYou should consider the employers who hire under the law H-2B. They are required by law to look for native-born workers, provide substantial evidence to the government that they've attempted to hire native born workers, and then are allowed to hire immigrant workers. There have been many programs in the past that try to connect unemployed native-born workers with low skilled employers to remidy the need for migrant workers, but have been forced to stop because of lack of interest among native-born workers. They usually receive a low turnout, and the native-born workers they do receive usually work for two or three days before quitting. The reason for this is because of a lack of potential advancement these jobs have, which is not a problem for migrant workers because their expectation of life and educational background is limited.
Bryan, So you haven't read about all the FRAUD with the Hb Work Visa programs I guess?
ReplyDeleteBesides Illegal aliens being treated like dirt, because they know if fired they have to leave, but also NOT ONE Employer has every really had to prove that they tried to hire an American (or in 1 case, employer ran a $5 ad for one day and that counts).
Why do you trust that the Gov't is checking anything?
They just want to spend every dime they take from us so they can say they need more, silly boy.
Do they check Licenses, Voter cards, applicants for benefits, status before releasing from the Hospital? no no no no.
They would have to embarrass themselves (Hello Bradbury) and not get more funding, every year.
New Mexico is a recent example where the GOP is suing the State because they are allowing Illegals to Vote and the State has a list and won't turn it over for inspection.
If Ted wins, we should all demand that all Votes be checked to make sure all votes were by Citizens only.
Remember earlier this year when a Hispanic Woman was running for office in California and she said "You don't need any papers to vote"?
She lost for speaking the truth, other politicans won't tell the truth.
That would be Francine Busby, the Democratic candidate for the 50th Congressional District, was speaking before a largely Latino crowd in Escondido when she uttered these words,“You don't need papers for voting.” She said yesterday she simply misspoke.

Bryan, I think the old canard that there are jobs that Americans won't do is tired. It is used by the ones that don't value hard manual labor or maybe never have had to do any. I picked beans in the summer to buy school clothes. I had a paper route for 4 years as a teenager in order to have spending money. I never got an allowance for doing the chores I could do. It was expected as a part of my family. I worked in a sawmill for three years. I have always mowed my own lawn and washed my own car. I have dug sewer lines and replaced roofs and split a lot of firewood. I worked 30 years in the automotive parts business until I was downsized. Now I'm a custodian and I do landscaping on the weekends to pay bills. I'm not trying to make any point except that I don't know of any job that an American won't do if it offers them the ability to support their family. And if all the real costs were factored into the equation concerning cheap labor we would really see the costs are unsustainable.
ReplyDeleteThe sad part is that the whole open borders agenda has nothing to do with providing cheap labor or helping immigrants but all about removing our border and our sovereignty. Globalist versus the rest of us. Take a number.
bryan saxton: It may be that there are certain businesses which are simply not viable in Oregon today unless the wages are at some low enough level. If someone's business is not viable without illegals, then he made a bad business decision, didn't he? Salem will survive the loss of a landscaping business, but it won't survive becoming North Tijuana. As Thomas Sowell has pointed out, the employment of Latinos has a lot more to do with shifting costs onto the Anglos than it does with lowering the cost of labor overall. What's really going on is a battle for turf. The Latinos mean to take our country from us. Are you going to let them?
ReplyDeleteBobkatt, it's not about the jobs that illegal immigrants will do that Americans won't do. It's more like the jobs illegal immigrants will do that Americans aren't supposed to do. Take my example in a previous post in this thread of what happened in 1992 when I tried to apply for a summer job in Boring. My experience was an example of a company with the case of exploitation of cheap labor.

As for day-laborer, one point I made to Rick Hickey on Monday in Salem, was if any of these day-laborers have background checks, especially those with dangerous offenses such as rape and child sex offenses. Do you want a registered sex offender working in your family's yard or residence?
