Nissan entered the full size truck market about two years ago. All I have to say to Nissan is. . . Welcome to 1970.

Daniel, I have tons of imformation and opinion about American automotive companies, so I will stop ranting on your posting about health care with it.

What I did see on that news segment though, was that many companies have had their health insurance costs rise over 30% in one year. Even if they defer that cost to the employee some, eventually it will get to the consumer.

I like how anonymous fills his posting with deep meaning, but it is mostly just opinion. As far as asian cars go. GM owns Suzuki, Isuzu, and holds the market share of Daewoo, which is the BANKRUPT korean manufacturer. Ford owns Mazda. The reason that GM and Ford are not competitive is because of their outrageous pension plans and ridiculous union obligations (and to a lesser extent their health care costs) that are sucking the life out of them (hmmmm, reminds me of PERS...) Why do you think that when Nissan, Honda, etc build North American plants, that they do it in Tennessee and not Michigan? (Hint - cheaper labor and no union) That being said, I certainly won't deny that the imports have held serve on quality for quite a few years, although the gap is narrowing.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-11266150.post-1129633657235283172005-10-18T04:07:00.000-07:002005-10-18T04:07:00.000-07:00"Anonymous said..."I'm not going to re-quote you ..."Anonymous said..."

I'm not going to re-quote you but I more than willingly buy American vehicles. GM has ...Your healthcare is going to go up anyway. GM has worked with UAW to reduce health care costs to save them from going belly up. I can't find much fault in this, as the Unions have destroyed the big 3's ability to competitively build and sell cars in the U.S. I read an article a while back that the Healthcare costs translate into about $1200 on top of the other costs of building a car at GM. Yeah, that makes it easy to compete with Honda.Gunslingerhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07954431264355780241noreply@blogger.com
