What is this great job you ask? It it the job of a state trooper? Is it a teacher? Is it someone who builds roads? Silly Oregonian, this is Kulongoski's world. The job is:
The Oregon Department of Education claims to be short of money but can pay someone for... whatever it is that Karen does.
Here's how I think that this ought to be applied to the Islamonutjobs we are encountering in Iraq/Iran/Crapistan/etc.
Bottom line: I care more about American's sons and daughters than I do about Iraq/Iran/Crapistan/etc's sons and daughters. I care more about Americans interests (security, economic, moral, etc) than I do about these other backwards countries.
So put me in charge of this war and my first official order says that all terrorists (loosely defined as "anyone that even has a bad dream about looking sideways at one of our soldiers") who are captured get thrown in a 5 X 5 cell naked with feral swine as cellmates.
Any and all interogation techniques that are deemed effective by the men on the ground will be employed. (as opposed to letting the men in the suits who lie for a living and pretend to care about "the folks" while making 3.8 times the median salary of the American worker and working about 1/8 as hard decide what "feels good")
Our soldiers would be authorized to shoot/blow up/incinerate anything that even looks suspicious.
Terrorists who are killed in battle are buried with pig guts, pig heads, pig feces, etc. Crude headstones with phrases such as "Where's your Allah now?" and "If those pigs were a virgins does that count?" would be erected over these graves.
Terrorists who were identified (captured or killed) would have their families houses destroyed.
As for nation states who contribute to our boys dying in any way shape or form (Iran and co): I can't put a value on the life of an American citizen and I will not try to. So I'm just going to use a round number: one of our soldiers/citizens lives is worth 50,000 lives of your citizens.
We'll start by nuking Tehran and two or three major cities in Iran and if they still want to play after that then the 50,000 rule comes into play. WE WILL BURY YOU.
Egregious examples of rooting against America from the media would result in arrest for treason. You do not have a first amendment right to encourage bloodthirsty savages to continue fighting.
What I'm saying is that I would become more vicious than the enemy. I would attack them with their own facist religion and deny them their heaven. I would get the intestinal fortitude to use our weapons that are more powerful than their weapons. I would terrorize them until they begged us to stop.

We were able to locate an official “sanctuary” policy for only two jurisdictions that received at least $1 million in SCAAP funding, the State of Oregon, which received $3.4 million, and the City and County of San Francisco, which received $1.1 million and has designated itself as a “City and County of Refuge.”
The Oregon policy begins by stating, “No law enforcement agency of the State of Oregon or of any political subdivision of the state shall use agency moneys, equipment or personnel for the purpose of detecting or apprehending persons whose only violation of law is that they are persons of foreign citizenship present in the United States in violation of federal immigration laws.”
SCAAP is the "state criminal alien assistance program." It's purpose it to reimburse the state for costs associated with housing illegal aliens in our jails. (It most certainly doesn't cover the whole cost)
This audit makes the interesting point that Oregon asks for this "assistance" and receives quite a bit while at the same time being as friendly as possible to illegal aliens.
It's a shameful day when Oregon gets singled out, along with San Fransisco, as being criminal friendly.
NOTE: Our governor wants to have his cake and eat it too. I can't imagine him being more illegal alien friendly but then he has the nerve to call the SCAAP in Oregon "underfunded" in his budget (search term highlighted)

Illegal aliens, long a vital component of the nation's agricultural work force, are swapping hoes and spades for jackhammers and feather dusters.
A "vital component" of the ag work force? What a public relations boon for them. "Criminals are vital to our bussiness" doesn't seem like the best company slogan. In fact, it seems that every farmer you ask will insist that "some people may hire illegals but my workforce is all legal."
Uh huh. When you are fighting to support something that you can't admit to doing yourself I think that it's time to re-examine your position.
$3,287 - $4,932 MONTHLY
This position provides engineering support for project teams to establish proper project scoping, provide design services, and review plans to ensure that projects are in compliance with the bicycle and pedestrian requirements of the Oregon Bicycle and Pedestrian Plan and ORS 366.514. This position also tracks ODOT expenditures to ensure that the 1% spending requirement is met for bicycle and pedestrian facilities whenever a highway is constructed, reconstructed or relocated.
What is with all the "1% programs"? Is it our worthless official's way of institutionalizing their stupidity?

Cook Rosa Maria Salazar's eyes dart anxiously to the door as customers file into the Salvadoran cafe in a heavily Hispanic neighborhood near downtown Los Angeles.
"We're terrified. The police could come for us at any time and deport us," she said in Spanish earlier this week as diners fingered maize tortillas stuffed with beans and pork scratchings and chatted softly.
The 55-year-old undocumented worker from Guatemala is among many Hispanics deeply shaken by recent immigration raids at the heart of Latino communities in southern California.
This is just unacceptable. It started with the use of fingerprinting (where burglars and robbers had to worry) and moved to the use of DNA evidence (where murderers and rapists had to really worry) and now even the illegal aliens have cause for concern?
Where is this nation's compassion when our criminals have to live their lives in fear of being caught for their crimes?
On a serious note, look what the affect of some actual enforcement is. If it were sustained enforcement our illegal alien problem would be no more.
What is a "rapid refund?" It is essentially a payday loan. For an exhorbitant fee (exhorbitant is defined not by the marketplace but by democrat politicians) you get your money 2-3 weeks early.
So... since Kulongoski and co. were all so anxious to say vile things about payday lenders I am calling for him to have a press conference today where he will describe H&R Block as "predatory." Really, I want to see that. Or is Kulongoski afraid of big tax. (said in the same tone as you would say "big oil" or "big tobacco")
Come on Governor, be consistent. You know that some good Republicans in the legislature would support a bill restricting the "predatory" and "vile" practices of offering consumers choice. After all, interfering with the market and increasing government regulation is what our current crop of R's are all about.
I'm sorry to the folks who just had a pipe break, a transmission go out, etc but I'm just not willing to let you fall "victim" to the predators at big tax. You will have to wait a few weeks to get your money. I know better than you.

We can't eforce the laws unless we make crime legal!!
Oh yeah, temporary. We believe that. I am sure that you will deport these people after they have worked, started a family, and bought a house here.
Oh good, we'll "resolve the status" of the criminal aliens. If you want a civil debate then stop trying to sell us your lies!
The future of HB 2459 now lies in the hands of the committee members, especially the committee chair, Representative Diane Rosenbaum. The committee chair can schedule the bill for public hearing and a committee vote, or could delay the bill indefinitely. I encourage you all to contact the committee members, your district legislators, and the governor, to show your support for English as our official language.
You can find contact information for all legislators, plus committee assignments, on our legislative website:
"The error involved a miscalculation that allowed students not making progress to show as making progress. "
"Down" means "up", it could happen to anyone.
Anyways, considering that our public indoctrination camps can't seem to get these kids to "move up by one level of English proficiency" (meaning they go from speaking "no english" to being able to ask "where's the bathroom") I thought that maybe we need a fresh idea.
Instead of throwing tax dollars at a miserable failure of a program (or as the schools call it "the gravy train") I propose parking students in front of American television for 2 hours a day.
Seriously, I honestly believe that watching two hours of TV in English would be more likely to take these kids up one point on the five point scale than all the "let's make MEChA posters in class today" projects that they do in ELL class.

Investment in Oregon startups dropped almost 40 percent last year as the state continues to have trouble attracting venture capital since the dot-com bust.
Per capita, Oregon draws venture capital at roughly one-third the national average. "There's just a lot more money in other areas of the country than there is here," said Linda Weston, executive director of the Oregon Entrepreneurs Network, which supports startup activity in the state.
Can we please get back to our conversation about taxing and regulating ourselves to prosperity? I know, let's regulate how restraunts cook their food! That will bring in the bussiness.
Other things on the agenda today: the self-esteem of the homeless, surcharges, mass transit, fees, increasing multiculturalism, increasing taxes...

A bill that Senate Democrats have touted as a means to curb corruption in Washington could instead target some political bloggers with new regulations and even criminal penalties.
You dirty rat politicians always claiming to want to "clean" up when you are the dirty filth that has corrupted this country. You overpaid, overhyped, pampered babies. You are no better, no more important than the guy who cleans the toilet at Wal-Mart. And actually he serves a function that probably benefits more working Americans.
A convicted felon who attempted to establish an Al Qaeda terrorist training facility in Oregon will be deported in the coming days.
"ICE will not stand by and allow the United States to become a haven for those who put the safety of our citizens at risk," said Dorothy Stefan, Chief Counsel for ICE in Seattle. "Those who are convicted of serious crimes are not welcome in this country."
But wait, who will commit the terrorist acts that American's aren't willing to do? Has the WSJ approved of this deportation? Couldn't we just give him immunity and lock up the ICE agents instead? WWWAAAAHHHHH, where is the multicultural sensitivity?!?!?!?!

Do you think that English should be the official language of Oregon?
Obviously the correct answer is yes.
Thank you very much to Rep Donna Neslon for starting this dialogue by introducing a bill that would do just that.
Press 1 for English, press 2 if you don't habla the English and want to be disconnected.

Seriously, I didn't share a dirty heroin needle or have casual sex in a bathhouse here and I'm suffering. I wash my hands, take my vitamins and I'm sick. Can we please cure us productive citizens so we can get back to work before we worry about helping the heroin junkies get back to their unproductive lives?
And maybe instead of sending billions of tax dollars to Africa to help "prevent the spread of AIDS" we could instead carpet bomb them with leaflets that say:
Next time you are raiding a neighboring village, killing the Christians, burning people alive and looting the UN relief supplies would it be too much trouble to ask you to NOT gang rape the women? We appreciate the cooperation of the peace-loving Muslim community in helping us prevent the spread of HIV.
Obviously I would have enough multicultural sensitivity to print the leaflet in Arabic as well as whatever the hell other languages those savages speak.
I look forward to the hate mail guys.

The city finds itself a "petri dish" of racial and ethnic relations as a swelling Latino and Asian population puts a new face on the onetime farm community.
"We are a pretty good petri dish," says Hillsboro Police Chief Ron Louie. "This is a complicated community that struggles with its own identity and demographic change. Some see it as an invasion and others see it as an enrichment."
Nothing like a little crime to "enrich" our lives. Of course, no fishwrapper story on illegal aliens would be complete without the glowing profiles.
After years as a migrant farmworker, crossing back and forth from his home state of Oaxaca, Lopez settled in Hillsboro. He secured legal residency in 1987 through a one-time federal amnesty program.
He earns minimum wage at a Beaverton food processor. He speaks Mixteco, an Indian dialect common to southern Mexico, and a clipped Spanish -- but no English.
He got amnesty in 1987 and he still doesn't speak English. I just can't wait for Bush's amnesty.
Last summer, [Hillsboro Mayor] Hughes took heat from some residents for attending a conference hosted by the Mexican government to discuss issues Mexican nationals face abroad. And repeatedly, he has raised ire by emphasizing that the city's job is to serve all residents, whether they're in the United States legally or not.
The story focuses on race-baiting and absolutely ignores the issue: are these immigrants here legally? Do they move to Hillsboro because they want to be Americans or do they move to Hillsboro because they want to make it Little Mexico? Are the people moving in next door "Latino" or "criminal"?

Individual Taxpayer Identification Number (ITIN)
IRS issues ITINs to foreign nationals and others who have federal tax reporting or filing requirements and do not qualify for SSNs. A non-resident alien individual not eligible for an SSN, who is required to file a U.S. tax return only to claim a refund of tax under the provisions of a U.S. tax treaty, needs an ITIN.
(in so many words: illegal aliens)
ITINs are not valid identification outside the tax system. Since ITINs are strictly for tax processing, IRS does not apply the same standards as agencies that provide genuine identity certification.ITIN applicants are not required to apply in person, and IRS does not further validate the authenticity of identity documents. ITINs do not prove identity outside the tax system, and should not be offered or accepted as identification for non-tax purposes.
So it's a number that is only used by criminals... and there is absolutely no verification or authentication of the person applying. Yeah, that's not a recipie for fraud.
On the W-7 application form there is a big warning:
Applicants with a U.S. visa that is valid for employment should first apply for an SSN with the Social Security Administration (SSA). You are not eligible for an ITIN if you are eligible to obtain an SSN.
And back in 2003 the IRS revised the ITIN program saying:
“About one-quarter of the ITINs issued for tax return purposes never actually find their way onto a tax return,” said IRS Commissioner Mark W. Everson. “The steps taken today ensure ITINs will be issued only to those seeking to comply with their tax obligations.”
Federal law requires individuals with U.S. income, regardless of immigration status, to pay U.S. taxes. The ITIN, a nine-digit number that begins with the number 9, was created for use on tax returns for those taxpayers who do not qualify for a Social Security Number. The IRS has issued 7 million ITINs since 1996.
So remember, if your wages were illegal the IRS still wants to hear from you!

Remember Multnomah County looking to hire a Klingon translater? Perhapes we can help with the whole "Vulcan" problem. At least I think that's the problem... or are the Klingons themselves the problem...? We need clarification. Quick, someone call Wu and ask if our phasers should be set to "stun" or "kill."

My idea of American policy towards Iraq, Iran, Syria, pretty much any camel oriented nation: we win they lose. You want to live like Tusken Raiders (seriously, you Star Wars nerds know what I'm talking about, there are some odd similarities between Middle Easterners and the "sand people" and I'm not just talking about them living in the desert and having poor hygeine) that's fine by me, but come bother us and we will bomb you back further than the stone age. (since that is where you seem to currently reside)
And can we all agree that teachers are the most overpaid workers in America? Seriously, do they actually work like 8 weeks out of the year? $30k/year doesn't sound too bad when you get summer off, spring break, Christmas (I mean "winter") break, every holiday imaginable and when it gets a little cold you get a "snow day."
But the important thing is that Randy Leonard is saving kids from the horrors of seeing adults smoke cigarettes in the park. He says that smoking isn't "role model behavior." Fine, but Portland celebrates stuff that isn't role model behavior with alarming frequency:
Where you saying something about "health risks" Randy? But I'm sure that Portlands "gay community" (they get their own community because they are so opressed) is so glad that now they only have to worry about AIDS and other STD's and not having their children (oh wait...) see adults using legal products in the public park.
On to my new hobby: I have been holding all my conversations as if I have drank the cool-aid. I've found it quite enjoyable. (especially with a certain co-worker who I will call "Gary") I simply parrot the most asinine liberal trash that I can think of. Examples:
Anyone who is friends with Dick Cheney is referred to as a "cronie."
Make statements such as "we should take the money we are spending in Iraq and instead 'invest' it in preschool nutrition programs."
Take no responsibility for your problems and instead blame them on "the white male establishment." (corporate America can also be blamed)
Mutter about "the rich" constantly.
Talk about oil as if it is snake venom.
Make fun of Christians, especially Pat Robertson.
I'm going to sign off with a link to some Reagan quotes. Boy do I wish that man was president today...

The Justice findings by department Inspector General Glenn Fine examined the criminal histories of 100 illegal immigrants arrested and then released by local and state authorities in 2004, the latest complete data available. Of the sample group of 100, according to the audit, 73 immigrants were later arrested a collective 429 times – on charges ranging from traffic tickets to weapons and drug charges.
To borrow the "how do you ask" phrase from our dove politicians: "how do you ask someone to be a crime victime for cheap labor, cheap votes and multiculturalism?"
Tomorrow, I hope that President Bush decides to take his Iraq War in a direction that brings our troops home, rather than to grasp at military straws to recover from a political error. If instead he escalates American participation in Iraq's civil war, every American who dies in Iraq from this day forward is a patriot lost because one American leader cannot admit mistakes.
Terrorists everywhere thank you for your support Mr. Wu.

How many illegal alien babies are Oregon taxpayers footing the bill for? Several notable numbers:
Medicaid Advisory Committee (search terms highlighted)
Oregon births for 2004 were 45,400. Of the 20,000 of the total births paid by Medicaid, 4,800 were in the CAWEM program.
(CAWEM stands for Citizen Alien Waived Emergency Medical, as covered by me here and here and thank you for the reminder Rick)
Just so we are clear: more than 10% of all births in Oregon in 2004 were to illegal aliens. Let me say it again, one out of every ten babies born in Oregon has an illegal alien for a mother. Of the births that were paid for by taxpayers, 24% were from illegal aliens.
The kicker here is, I don't believe that these numbers include illegal alien babies where the mother just showed up at the hospital, gave birth and left with no intention of ever paying the bill. I will ironically use the term "undocumented birth" for this.
I have to believe that many illegal alien mommies are not in the CAWEM program despite the best efforts of our folks in "public service." These numbers were from 2004, I would have to imagine that the 2006 numbers are even worse.
The economic costs are staggering but the social costs worry me as well. One in ten children born into a criminal family. A family where they don't respect the law. Scary.

A state report quietly released last spring shows illegal immigrants made up the largest single group of those giving birth at taxpayer expense in the state and in San Diego County in 2004.
The May report, "Medi-Cal Funded Deliveries," states that of the 14,350 taxpayer-funded births in the county that year, 5,814, or 40.5 percent, were to illegal immigrants. That is an 18 percent increase over the 4,916 Medi-Cal-funded deliveries to illegal immigrants in San Diego County in 2001, as shown in an earlier state report.
I'm not even going to copy and paste the part about the illegal alien who is griping about everything being covered except $35 which she thinks she shouldn't have to pay.
But the real question is: where is the report on how much illegal aliens are costing the Oregon Health Plan?
That report would be the responsibility of the Secretary of State's office. Here is the contact page with lot's of email adresses for their audit division. And here is the main contact page for the SOS's office.

Hah, there is no intention of this. Instead we have...
McLoughlin Blvd. Enhancement Project in Oregon City, Oregon. The City of Oregon City, the county seat of Clackamas County, Oregon, and the Regional Arts & Culture Council in Portland, Oregon, invite artists/teams residing in Oregon or Washington to submit qualifications for a public art design team opportunity in Oregon City. The total art budget is $160,000.
Maybe you are an aspiring artist. Maybe you could use $160,000. Unfortunately there is another requirement for this project: you must HATE cars.
You see Oregon City and ODOT are very concered that this area is "designed primarily to accommodate motorized vehicles moving through the area" so this "project seeks to reduce barriers for pedestrians and cyclists."
So who is paying for this public art whose purpose is to make it harder for you to drive through the area?
"The project has been funded through Federal transportation allocations and Oregon City Urban Renewal funds. "
Urban Renewal is money that should go to local schools and police but thankfully will instead help build a "skatepark."
Hold onto your wallets update:
Wonderful how the next morning after the call for the public artist(s) for the above project we have the Fishwrapper telling us a worthless story about artists "looking for a home" in Oregon City. But the best paragraph is this:
""There was a big interest in having a gallery," said Orzen, who coordinates the city's annual First City Arts Faire. The problem now is how the venture would pay its bills, she said."
Ooooh, ooooh, pick me, pick me, I know how they could pay their bills!!! Use tax dollars!
Using six cameras, the Oregon Channel will provide live, gavel-to-gavel, unedited coverage from the legislative floor in Salem.
Programming will include coverage of Senate and House floor sessions, committee hearings, Oregon Supreme Court hearings, state agency hearings, capitol news conferences and other government and public affairs events of statewide interest.
Watch these folks decided what to do with your money, your wages, your healthcare, your property, your guns, your cars, your water, your yard debris, your dogs, your neighborhood and possibly your very dignity.

...When asked directly about the issue by pollsters, voters of all major ideologies consistently oppose its continued tolerance by government. Republicans, Independents and Democrats alike want it stopped. This result is much too clear and direct for many politicians and pundits to find useful, so instead an assemblage as diverse as George W. Bush, Robert Novak, Teddy Kennedy and Nancy Pelosi are claiming that voters in the last election demanded amnesty for illegal aliens.
A good deal of propaganda has been spun over the last two months in support of that notion, as Democrats prepare to move forward on legalizing 15 million to 30 million future clients of the welfare state; while the Bush wing of the GOP, by contrast, prepares to move forward on legalizing 15 million to 30 million current workers of the corporate state.
...In other words, the bipartisan open-borders lobby would have voters believe that the root cause of crime is law. After all, if there were no laws or limits, no one could violate them. Crime would be zero. So they propose to solve the illegal alien problem by simply attacking the fact that they are illegal. In this way, terrible anarchy will be replaced by a healthy lawlessness on the border. This will reduce future illegal crossings about as well as giving car thieves a “path to ownership” would reduce future car theft.
I just cherrypicked a few paragraphs. Go read the whole article and see the rest of Mac's stuff at his page.
In case you think that this couldn't happen there was actually a bill that created this illlegal alien card in the 2005 session.
House Bill 3473
"Establishes driving privilege card for persons not able topresent verified Social Security number or verified identifyingnumber issued by United States Department of Homeland Securityindicating that person is legally present in United States.Provides that driving privilege card grants same drivingprivileges as driver license but cannot be used foridentification purposes."
And a serious discussion was had about the illegal alien drivers license in a House Transportation Comittee meeting. While I think that Kim Thatcher is one of the best voices we have in Salem it is disheartening to see the concessions that our side is willing to make:
Expresses concern about a driving privilege card that expires after eight years. Recommends a one-year renewal.
How about a NO YEAR RENEWAL! Even Kropf makes a concession:
Acknowledges that economic hardship is a valid point. Relates his experiences riding with a state trooper in his district. Argues the driving privilege card is a disincentive to those wishing to stay hidden.
It's like worrying about the economic hardship on meth dealers when you cut off their source of precursor ingrediants. Who cares?
My point is that we need to really call/email/visit not just the people that we know are on the wrong side of this issue but also our friends and allies in Salem to tell them we want NO COMPROMISE on this issue.
Monday, January 01, 2007
Should be back in the blogging saddle this week. Look for regular legislative updates on who is on our side, who is a moron and who is on meth in the capital building. (so far the record is for most meth addicted members of the legislature belongs to the democrats)
Don't forget that this is what we are up against...
