Panel urges tighter immigrant work restrictions
Biometric Social Security cards, green cards and immigration work-authorization cards should be the only documents used to verify work eligibility, a federal panel says.

The task force -- a bipartisan panel of policy experts, business leaders, public officials and some members of Congress -- said it drew up the recommendations because the current immigration system is outdated and fails to meet the nation's current and future labor market needs.

Both of Oregon's senators declined comment about the panel's recommendations, saying they weren't familiar with the report.

More like "both of Oregon's senators declined to comment because they support amnesty and it's not very smart to admit that in public."

looks as if the only way to correct this problem is to have every legal marked(implanted identity chip)

More chilling, and problematic, for our two anti-American senators is the report strongly hinting at nuclear material smuggled across our SOUTHERN border by al qaeda, supposedly bound for NYC or DC. Smith and Wyden may want to practice their 'duck and cover' drill. IF such an attack should occur, AND if the attack doesn't take them out, the electorate will certainly do so at the ballot box.

Pandering to criminal aliens is bad enough, but enabling terrorists is taking their anti-American stance to a new level....maybe they can buy villas near their buddy Hugo Chavez, and continue to help him in threatening our country. No outrage from el gordo? No surprise.....sheesh.

Start punishing employers for hiring non-citizens.

Set up a $5000 per week federal employer tax for hiring an illegal, and turn the IRS loose on them.

When the jobs for illegals disappear, so will they.

I will be having lunch w/ Mike Erickson who did not reply to the papers request for a comment, today.

I will let you all know why he did not answer such an important question.

Don't leave us hanging here Rick. What did he say? It may not matter however, I always vote against Darlene "Do Nothing" Hooley.

Mike did NOT get that call nor did anyone on his staff.
A different writer for S/J was there and would not confirm this.
Mike spoke openly & strongly about illegal immigration and border security BUT
He did not know about the Congressional Immigration Reform Caucus, now w/105 members,(Tom Tancredo started this). Said he would have to learn more about them ??????

He also said something about maybe expanding the guest worker programs we have ???????

He would be better than Darlene Hooley, she has had many years to vote properly on illegal immigration and overall, has not.

In fact, she had 3 voting opportunities to deny Mexico from selling that Matricula Consular Card, she voted for Mexico instead.
And she talks about Identity theft/fraud?

Mike said he is within 7 points of Hooley.
