Oh really?

If you live in my Senate District you are currently being represented by Charles Starr. You will know this even if you aren't politically active because he is in a contested re-election race (with Larry George) and is sending out fliers in the mail almost every day.

While Senator Starr is absolutely great on family values issues and standing up to the gay mafia, he has a less than stellar record on illegal immigration, despite what his fliers say.

Starr is on the education committee and in 2005 voted to send a bill to the full Senate that would have given in-state tuition to illegal aliens.

"If we don't educate them, they'll continue to struggle in minimum-wage jobs and fail to make the contribution to the state and nation that they would if they had a college education," Starr said.
SOURCE

Starr's current fliers make note that he has "fought" to deny drivers licenses to illegal aliens (maybe he only wants them to ride bikes to college?) and he wants to have tougher penalties for employers who knowingly hire illegal aliens. (If you don't know it's only because you are lazy, see this)

On the day that Starr made his vote I vowed that he would never get mine again, however, I am willing to give him a chance to redeem himself. I have traded a few email with his campaign manager and wrote him again today with a solution for Starr to show that he recognizes the huge problem that illegal immigration is. I will keep you posted.

As Steve Forbes explained today, "better than 28% of Mexico's work force is working in the USA."

It isn't just Farm Labor any more!

With enjoying that massive return of income to Mexico there is no reason to upgrade and improve their society and economy.

Not only are we spoiling our future we are spoiling Mexico's as by allowing this to occur and giving them incentives to continue will only end up killing us both.

Daniel,
Please don't be fooled by Charles campaign staff. They will tell you anything to get your vote.

Charles had ample opportunities to get on board (co-sponsor) several bills last session and failed.

Charles never testified once in front of committees on driver license or election reforms.

It's past time for the good man to retire.

Charles Starr makes me think of the good old boy in 1942, active in the Ku Klux Klan, and living in that mindset. Seriously, have you heard the man speak? He needs to retire.

Nice blog here. It's interesting going back through the posts and seeing links to Daniel's criminal history regarding firearms and drugs, and suspected gang activity? For all of you cohorts of Daniel here, touting the illegal crap, how do you justify that? How do you, Daniel, justify your hatred within your own context of your life and your family?

Anon, in what is probably the most popular post amongst PCUN members you can see an explanation here.

Are there any other subjects on here other than illegal's?
I used to read this blog every day and had it on my "bookmarks", now I don't read it for 4 or 5 days at a time and I come back and read the same post over and over again.
What gives?

THartill,

As far as I am concerned, illegal immigration is the ONLY issue until the Federal government gets ahold of the problem. What we have going on now is basically anarchy, with Mexicans given a free pass to break the law with impunity.

While at the same time us native born americans are expected to obey all laws, pay our taxes, etc., while at the same time watching our country go down the crapper due to an unchecked influx of third world peasants. So yes, it is the ONLY issue right now.

We will VOTE for the person who is toughest on ILLEGAL Immigration.

For those that our still confused, ILLEGAL Immigration, NOT "IMMIGRANTS".
Their is a difference.

TERRORISTS take advantage of WEAK IDENTITY LAWS!

SECURE OUR LICENSES on APRIL 20th!

Ok, but there seems to be a bunch of Atkinson Blog stuff all over the place and he is the weakest, so who is everyone supporting come May?
I am more of a libertarian independent type, so I would support making labor movement more easy, since other parts of the free market equation (Capital and Corporate) moves freer today because of NAFTA and CAFTA.

So why can't we just beef up border patrol, make it easier to become an American citizen and fine the illegals that are already here through their income tax forms over a couple of years and send the ones that won't sign up back the their own country?
Doesn't that sound fair to all parties involved and we can skip all of the hate and propaganda?

You don't really follow politics much, do ya?

So, let's put a few things together:

Rasmussen indicates that Senator Atkinson has the best chance of upsetting Teddy K and/or his closest competitor, Hill.

Ever found a blog ring for Saxton, Mannix, Teddy, Hill, Sorenson? Gee...I wonder why not.

Last time I checked, we had around 30 bloggers onboard. Of course, we aren't all on the same page, because - well, we blog. We all have our own views. Messing with bloggers is probably like trying to herd cats - it's going to be a losing proposition.

How odd, then, that you can get 30 or so to go with one candidate. I mean, since most of the bloggers have never met face-to-face, there must be something in Atkinson's message that rings true to them.

Yeah, that sounds really easy.

One problem: many work "under the table" which means they pay no taxes. I talked with a guy at a "day labor" pickup site. Daniel got a lot more out of him, but the gist was: you go to a temp agency, and all they do is pay you minimum wage, and then they take taxes out.

Well, that's just not acceptable!

In Mexico, a laborer might earn $20 a week. In Oregon, around $60 per day, assuming minimum wage.

There are two problems: one, they're here illegally. Two, although many tout citizenship as some big carrot, most of these people are just here to make money and send it back home. They have no desire to assimilate and become US citizens.

Nope not at all, I don't even blog much, so getting my own site probably isn't a good idea.

None of that mumbo jumbo even remotely addresses my question. Most of the Oregon Republican sites (that are part of the JA network) dedicate much of their posts to illegal aliens. Then I see comments like "I will vote for the person who is toughest on them". But Atkinson supports Bush's plan, which is the weakest among Republicans.

Even though he might talk tougher about it at a local level, if the Bushco plan goes through, won't that be disasterous for the "lock'em up crowd" that I see so often?

Well actually no, they pay no income taxes, other taxes yes and what is the difference between "those people" and an American Citizen that does not work? (And 33% don't) They don't pay any taxes either, at least someone who is working under the table is, well....Working!

Two, although many tout citizenship as some big carrot, most of these people are just here to make money and send it back home. They have no desire to assimilate and become US citizens.

This is strictly an opinion through and through. There is no way for you to prove a word of it and no way for anyone else to prove it wrong.

In Mexico, a laborer might earn $20 a week. In Oregon, around $60 per day, assuming minimum wage.

I see you have the "might" in there for good reason, since the average hourly wage in Mexico is over $3.

Since September 11, 2001, we have also taken significant new steps to address the threat of terrorism and to enhance the security of our people.

NONE of these people have experience with politics, the Atkinson bloggers just pretend they do. AND Atkinson is their only reason for being a blogger.
Too bad they couldn't get behind someone that has raised over $1 Mil. & has public awarenesss and the best chance to get a Republican in office. SAXTON comes to everyones mind and especially the ILLEGAL ALIENS!
Atkinson is already a politican who didn't do much of anything in the last session and wants the ivory tower office so he can continue to qualify for PERS.
SAXTON does not qualify for PERS, so who do you think is most likely to change it?
(yes he will when gov. but he will just start qualifying, whereas Jasons's whole family is on board w/PERS for years)
A current politican will have a harder time changing government than a non-poltician.

Saxtons claim to fame is the Portland school district. Now thats a success!
Saxton has been involved in politics for years, as a paid employee, never elected.
His ads are lies and he is slimy
Saxton is a demon-crat every way you hold him.

Daniel:

Didn't Starr vote for that same bill in the session before?

Two sessions in a row and when the Senator faces a Republican challenger he sees the light? I don't think so.
