And good riddance!

Ex-Rep. Cunningham Gets 8 Years, 4 Months for Corruption
Former Rep. Randy "Duke" Cunningham, who collected $2.4 million in homes, yachts, antique furnishings and other bribes in a corruption scheme unmatched in the annals of Congress, was sentenced Friday to eight years and four months in prison and was immediately taken into custody.

Cunningham pleaded guilty to accepting bribes from defense contractors and others in exchange for steering government contracts their way. They included a Rolls-Royce, a yacht, homes, travel, meals, Persian rugs valued at $40,000 each and various antique furnishings.

This is not a partisan issue, if a Republican is corrupt then send him to jail! We don't need criminals to "represent" us by living a lavish lifestyle for giving out tax dollars.

It's time for government to be afraid of the people again.

This is a real tragedy. Duke Cunningham was a genuine war hero, a naval aviation ace in the Vietnamese War. What a pity he had to be brought down by a yearning for more money.

He will still be paid while he's a convicted felon? What the...?

Dchamil - 'Tis a pity, true. But as the saying goes: every man has his price.

Mine is 4 million. And I promise to never come back, though I will send the occasional post card. [From an undisclosed location, of course.]

Uhhmmm...well I hope you are saying the same thing when President Bush is investigated by an independent counsel for illegal wiretapping. If he is found guilty, Oh, what to do????? At least we can count on you Daniel.

Duke was a good man...but good men do go bad. He is a genuine war hero (as opposed to the phoney baloney, one who ran for president - John Kerry)Unlike the Liberals who always have an excuse for thier corruption, we Conservatives believe if you've broken the law, well, there are consequences...period! It doesn't matter if there is an (R) following your name. Yes it may be sad, but we don't need that kind of dishonesty. Duke is paying the price...as he should.

Don't care what a great guy he was - just what he became. The same mind that led him once to greatness also convinced him of his greatness - and thus, his exemption from the laws that apply to underlings.

I will agree that it is sad that he forgot, somewhere along the line, that we are a nation of law.

If there was an investigation [ and I don't see the need for one ] and President Bush were found innocent, what will you do????? Blame it on Halliburton? Carl Rove?

And what? You don't have the stones to leave some identifier, just pitch your leftist screed and run away? You're probobly one of the "brave" anarchists who has to wear a scarf to cover your face when you protest against the "fascist state".

That is all.

Moot point. He already admitted to it.
