Thank you Mr. Gilchrist

Border security haunts election
The most interesting thing about the race to fill a vacant U.S. House seat in Orange County -- one of the most secure Republican districts in the nation -- is not who will probably win. The party's endorsed candidate, former car dealer John Campbell, is so confident he already has a plane ticket to Washington.

Despite the likely outcome, the campaign has spotlighted an issue that could play out in races across the country next year: illegal immigration.

While Minuteman founder Jim Gilchrist lost the election, his candidacy forced the Republican party to adress his issue. He also demonstrated the huge support for meaninful reform, meaning enforcement, of our immigration laws.

The Republican candidates for Oregon Gov. must sign on to immigration reforms in Oregon!

This means they MUST support:

1. Driver's licenses for only LEGAL immigrants

2. Proof of Citizenship to register to vote

Yeah, thanks Jim. Your lame one-issue campaign may just be a boon for democrats in upcoming elections. I hope minutemen across the country will run. Hell, I'll jump on the bandwagon: Atkinson for Governor! Tancredo for President!

NOT!!!!!!!!!

So lame. *sigh*
And what do the Democrats offer as a platform? What issues are they putting forward to entice voters?
Their national platform reeks of defeatest socialism and offers no real solutions for the problems facing this country.
IMHO, the Democratic party is a hollow shell of what it once was, when they stood firmly for America and her values. Now all they have to offer are John Kerry once again dissing American soldiers, Howard Dean saying how winning in Iraq is an impossibility, and Nancy Pelosi...
Ah, what's the use?
Even if Jim Gilchrist does have only "one issue", at least it shows that he stands for something! And - if you dont stand FOR something, you'll FALL for ANYTHING.

Uh, first anonyomous, those two are coming to Oregon by 2008 thanks to the wonderful Real ID act passed by Congress. Unless the ACLU manages to get some activist judge to overtun it...

Sailor -- Keep in mind it was a special election. Gilchrist had the stage all to himself and spent a ton of money. In a regular election, Jimmy-One-Note might not have fared so well. Historically, candidates with only one plank do best in special elections.

Losing support from his own party would scare him more than a third party candidate doing well.

Get your folks into precinct committee positions, and have a non-RINO take his nomination from him next election ...

That will send a clearer message.
